I really like how you chose these raw and most deeply human moments of the books! In the midst of all the magic and the fascinating lore, people often forget what makes these stories so incredible captivating for people even at older ages, I did too tbh, since I barely remember any of these portions anymore! Thank you so much for putting them out there:D
No problem at all thanks and glad you liked my picks! 100% the heart of the books is the great characters and I love those understated, emotional moments between them.
16:22, “then I don’t want to be human” might very well be the best Harry line in the entire series. It’s both how he’s similar to Voldemort and how he’s different from him. Neither one of them likes being human but Voldemort does something about it whereas Harry doesn’t like being human but he cares too much about other people to strip himself of his humanity
As a smaller thinker, I have two smaller moments that stand out to me. One is the war memorial in Godric's Hollow that transforms into a statue of the Potters, and the pictures on Luna's bedroom ceiling bound by the infinite "friends" chain.
@@MediaRetrospective-sb2pt I also agree with you when you say Harry and Luna are a better match than Harry and Ginny. I suspect this may have been JK Rowling's thinking when she named Luna, since so many other names are so obvious, such as Remus (a boy raised by wolves) Lupin (meaning "wolf") and Sirius (the Dog Star) Black, a black dog. Luna Lovegood was still a good name for that character, though.
@@arinerm1331 Yeah, I feel like JKR kind of invented Ginny's character near the end of the series to give Harry a ready-made love interest. Because she really just came out of nowhere and Harry didn't have much reason to fall for her as hard as he did. I don't really like her later cool girl personality either.
Nice idea for a video! I agree with the one about Sirius definitely, i feel like i also prefer the darker or sadder/heart wrenching moments. The bit where Harry and Hermione visit his parents' grave for example. Also the scene where Harry uses the resurrection stone and speaks to his parents, Sirius and Lupin. When James says they'll be with him until the very end.
Thanks! Yeah I feel like those darker moments have the most impact. Your two scenes are great as well, the one where Harry uses the stone to talk to his parents and Sirius was on this list originally, but I ended up bumping it off when I went down to 7 items.
Personally the best moment in the book is probably the final battle between Harry and Voldemort, when they are walking in circles and Harry explains why he will come victorious but Voldemort's arrogance won't let him understand. Another moment that I always found very captivating and breathtaking was in book four when Harry got his leg stuck in the stairs and is almost catch if it wasn't for Moody's help.
Despite being a huge Harry Potter fan I didn't know all the connections about the no 7!! I have my own favorite moments, mostly reveals, but I love the parts where Harry goes into the penseive, most of all when they explore Voldemort's past which I would have loved to read more about
It's a nice bit of trivia! Ah yes those are great moments I do love those too, it's such a shame they were mostly cut from the movie. Voldemort is such an interesting character, I hope one day we might get a side story about his early years from his perspective.
I am glad that you made a Top List Video 'cause i would want to see more positivity from your channel. My favorite moment is Harry vs Voldemort because of the buildup in the fourth book where Voldemort made his comeback.
Thank you for the feedback! My only worry with the more positive content is I feel like people aren't generally as interested in watching it. So it's nice to see someone who does like it. And yep great moment, their final confrontation right?
@@MediaRetrospective-sb2pt What do you think are some of the best aspects of Rowling's writing besides the use of emotive language as referred in the later books?
@@TheLazyFusspot_3428 I think her greatest strengths as a writer are: 1. Mysteries, as we mentioned. 2. Giving each character realistic and significant flaws. 3. Associating key characteristics with her characters, so you have a strong association with their defining traits. Like Snape's greasy hair, or Dumbledore's twinkling eyes.
@MediaRetrospective-sb2pt Hello! I recently discovered your channel and I’m really enjoying your videos! Harry Potter is my favorite series so I was wondering, how would you rank the books and why?
Thanks very much! Good to see you here and I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. That's a very good question, I really need to think about that as it's very tough to rank them. I may have to come back to you on this!
I think that stuff like that umbridge sent the dementors or that the reason that harry survived was that voldemort taking harrys blood anchored harrys life to voldemort should have been in the movies
Yeah unfortunately they cut a ton of good scenes from the movies. I get they can't fit everything in, but then they replaced them with cringey or unimportant new scenes.

I actually forgot about Luna's friends chain, it's a very nice heartwarming moment.

Have u read the books or only the movies
@@Zach-fu8wn Please reread my OP and ask yourself whether the scenes I described might have come from the books or the movies. What a lame question...
The #7 spot is one that I dont even remember.
Really should start a re-read soon.

Good two moments! Your first one I also love, great final confrontation between the two of them.
I have to agree that the changing dynamic between Harry and Dumbledore is one of the most powerful parts in all seven books.
Yeah I really love it, I can't think of another comparable relationship in another story to be honest.

You should also discuss about how Rowling handles and integrates mystery into her books at some point
Funnily enough that's actually an idea I have in my backlog! Thanks though I may bump it up the list.
