Honestly, I think it looks fine. It does not mess up the mean look. What if you used a decal insert from the vent to the windshield, creating a black insert / strip. Dude don’t fret over it, your car looks awesome. Just lightly touch up the bare metal, you will notice more than anyone.
Why not get motor mounts that lower the engine 3/4"? Feather out the cuts that you made into the vents so it's not hugging the head unit and respray it with a satin black. It'll look like a million bucks again. The Trackspec vents are amazing for helping airflow for both cooling and hood lift. I would put the cover back on your airbox though. High speeds can create turbulent airflow into your filter. The vents aren't designed to push air into the air box, they are designed to let out air. :) Beautiful cars.
You could switch it over to a plastic cover to expose and show off the whipple or I suggest a tiger racing hood or a hcm carbon hood if you’re going for the vent functionality
You wouldn't want the vent at the back of the bonnet anyway! Big high pressure zone and it will make your cooling even worse. Vent HAS to be in the low pressure zone at the front of the bonnet.
I put in real louvers in the hood (cut in old school way) ( after my SBF 302 engine swap into my 1984 Datsun.....they do help and move air out from under the hood (heck they work faster to defog windshield than my defroster on colder days) I like to keep my engine very clean...the louvers allow water spots on my polished aluminum intake......so keep that in mind with real hood vents/ventilation...water stains will show up after rain/wash
First of all you didn't need to cut that much off those fins. Second why did you cut them so horribly? Here's a cheaper solution, first off take some paint and paint the cut edges of those fins so they don't stand out so much with the lighter materials that you exposed when you cut. Second you take the cheaper rout and paint the top of that supercharger/ intake black so that it don't stick it as bad n you'll feel allot better
I know this is a 3 year old video, but maybe someone else will benefit. I think i would have raised the vent slightly with some molding or even double sided tape then rivet it back down.
possibly but thats just more money and time into it. Im just not a fan of the overall look on my car :\ I was pretty hyped on moving the vent towards the rear more.
Actually, it wouldn't be terrible if the cuts were cleaned up and painted black. I'd drive it with pride. Someone could've done a better job on those cuts, made them smoother. Hell, even some flat black Testor's model paint would touch it up and no one would be the wiser. If concerned about it rubbing the blower, just make the cuts a little larger, smooth them and paint them. I'm a sheet metal mechanic on aircraft, I would not be satisfied with how those cuts turned out.
Just in case you haven't seen it yet - have you taken a look at KohR Motorsports S550 street hood? I think it looks similar to what you were going for, maybe. Price isn't bad either. CF $1095 (includes removable under tray and is already clear coated for UV protection. Fiberglass $ 599 Take care
It looks off and the extra cuts make it look worse :/ , get a new hood. The vent needs to be further back or further towards the front, right in the center is what makes it look bad. Thanks for the video tho.
Beaver man... I’m installing my hood tomorrow. I bought my AMS fiberglass hood from CarID and my vents are mental mesh. Not sure 🤔 if I’m going to like it install since it’s unpainted and I’m going with gloss carbo fiber
I have hood vents on my 04 Lightning. But, I would NEVER drive iti in the rain. Know what a beater is? I daily a beat up old 98 Ranger, it also has vents in the hood. Rain doesn't bother it in the slightest. Also have vents on my Mustang, drive it in the rain, only if caught out in the rain. Rain doesn't bother it either.
Sorry it turned out that way. Have you looked at the aggressive VIS terminator? It looks mean. Not too sure if it's any lighter that stock though. Doesn't Anderson's, Trufiber, and some others clear coat their CF hoods? I thought they did. Good luck man. I hope you remedy the hood situation sooner than later. Take care
Looks nice tho 👌 could you do it where you could close those vents if u want to keep heavy rain out🤔i know the engine bay is pretty insulated but like that heavy scary rain😏
Whomever cut the center vent and actually let the car leave the shop looking like a fourth grader went to town on it. Sorry mate, that person/s should NEVER be allowed to work on any customer vehicles!! They didn't even take the time to repaint the part. If you're going to give the shop a bad reputation, at least take a permanent marker to the bare metal. I just can't stand half ass workmanship! I hate for you bud!!
Dude. That car sounds BAD TO THE BONE. Looks great inside too. Spaceship. Too bad the white showing thru, wasn’t black. That would cover that up. Hate that for u man. Money money money
The vibration ain't gonna hurt the whipple why don't you space the vent higher you are being way too sensitive saying your not gonna drive your car the vibration can't hurt the charger you are reminding me of high school kids who didn't know about cars they would say my car is over the oil change mileage I can't drive it tape some rubber to the bottom of the vent so it don't scratch the charger an drive it or cut the fins where it could touch
Dude! You sound like your man-Gina is killing you. Black wrap the top of the whipple where it shows then drive it to Walgreens and get yourself some Vagasil!
You hear so many stories off guy’s pursuit of having scoops on bonnets, theses car companies spend big dollars on airflows and heating problems, if your not having any of those problems most of the time your really better of leaving it alone, goes to the old saying if it’s not broke leave it alone. Ps. Beautiful car...✌️
Pffft looks stupid if it doesn’t clear the whipple.could’ve gotten a much better job done or aftermarket hood to clear the top but also look really mean
That car is the nicest 5.0 I’ve ever seen in my life. Holy fack
Paint the top of the charger.
Exactly..then it wont stick out like sore thumb.
Honestly, I think it looks fine. It does not mess up the mean look. What if you used a decal insert from the vent to the windshield, creating a black insert / strip. Dude don’t fret over it, your car looks awesome. Just lightly touch up the bare metal, you will notice more than anyone.
Just paint that white visible part in black. Can we get an update on the heat-venting properties?
I've got a solution for you, give me the Whipple lol
But, does it work at extracting heat?
Put a Roush hood scoop on it it'll cover up the vents make the hood look like one piece on top again
Why not get motor mounts that lower the engine 3/4"? Feather out the cuts that you made into the vents so it's not hugging the head unit and respray it with a satin black. This exactly what I did before installing my Trackspec vent. Installed adjustable motor mounts because I knew it was going to interfere.
Yup, what he said.
Dude. It still looks good. Your car is one of a kind. You can massage that in to look better, but even if you did nothing it still looks great!
I hear ya, but that guy just f*cked up his hood (and he knows it) - I feel sorry him, seriously
You could switch it over to a plastic cover to expose and show off the whipple or I suggest a tiger racing hood or a hcm carbon hood if you’re going for the vent functionality
You could try washers between the hood hinge and hood to shim it up slightly.
You could change it to plexi to show off or to a forward intake vent
I agree on your looks and thought on this.. May need to add a shaker style instead.
Where did you get the square vent in the middle of the hood?
For looks a flat insert wouldn't look totally out of place after just taking the cut pieces out.
You wouldn't want the vent at the back of the bonnet anyway! Big high pressure zone and it will make your cooling even worse.
Vent HAS to be in the low pressure zone at the front of the bonnet.

why can't you just paint the top part of the Whipple supercharger and it will blend and you won't even see it
Do you think this would clear a roush supercharger? It's a little smaller
possibly
Adjustable motor mounts man. Will go a long way to help you get that extra .5 inches you need
Honestly doesnt look bad man, even though you may not be a fan of it, I wouldent say its an eyesore at all.
What did you end up doing with it?
sell it and get a vette - it's a win win
Thumbs up for one of the nicest looking 5.0 I have seen and I'm a 'Vette guy :) Did you paint it black? Any difference in cooling?
First of all you didn't need to cut that much off those fins. Second why did you cut them so horribly? Here's a cheaper solution, first off take some paint and paint the cut edges of those fins so they don't stand out so much with the lighter materials that you exposed when you cut. You may not like the style but hood spacers could eliminate the potential rubbing
I know this is a 3 year old video, but maybe someone else will benefit. I think i would have raised the vent slightly with some molding or even double sided tape then rivet it back down.
Paint the cut edges black. So you can’t see the chopped up vents. Round all corneas off also. And transition the cuts.
Just paint that cover black or red so you wont notice it
You do know you can get motor mounts that lower your engine right? Probably wouldn’t have had to modify the vents.
Dam, I really feel sorry for this dude
I'd just paint that supercharger flat black and call it a day
could you get adjustable motor mounts to lower the Whipple a tad?
possibly but thats just more money and time into it. Im just not a fan of the overall look on my car :\ I was pretty hyped on moving the vent towards the rear more.
@@NemesisDigitalMedia gotcha. that's a bummer that it turned out that way.
line the chopped open holes with black rubber gasket or trim line gasket make it look edgeless
Actually, it wouldn't be terrible if the cuts were cleaned up and painted black. I'd drive it with pride. Someone could've done a better job on those cuts, made them smoother. CF $1095 (includes removable under tray and is already clear coated for UV protection.
Fiberglass $ 599
Take care
Hood spacers lol
Fr 🤦🏽♂️ and they have adjustable engine mounts too. 😂
hey man not sure if you fixed your problem yet, vicrez has an amazing aluminum GT500 style hood
maybe put a little bit of carbon fiber wrap over the supercharger
Biggest mistake is buying a ford
Put a reverse cowl on it, to replace the middle bonnet vent
Car looks awesome 👌🏾
It looks off and the extra cuts make it look worse :/ , get a new hood. The vent needs to be further back or further towards the front, right in the center is what makes it look bad. Thanks for the video tho.
Beaver man... I’m installing my hood tomorrow. I bought my AMS fiberglass hood from CarID and my vents are mental mesh. Not sure 🤔 if I’m going to like it install since it’s unpainted and I’m going with gloss carbo fiber
Black Hood scoop then put louvers on the hood scoop
Would never of made holes that big
Big question is : Did the IAT's see any kind of drops?
What PMPerformance said, any drops in IATs?
It looks good to me. Just put silicone or rubber bushings.
I have hood vents on my 04 Lightning. But, I would NEVER drive iti in the rain. Know what a beater is? I daily a beat up old 98 Ranger, it also has vents in the hood. Rain all in the motor 🤦🏾♂️
Agree, that sucks 👎 Side Vents look 👍👍
Make a Spacer and raise the Vent.
Looks nice tho 👌 could you do it where you could close those vents if u want to keep heavy rain out🤔i know the engine bay is pretty insulated but like that heavy scary rain😏
Reverse cowl vent will fix that
Just drive without the hood. Best heat extraction
It does look bad, it makes it look like pieces broke off
Paint that whipple gloss black.. won’t even know it’s there
Bro it looks even more mean like this. I'd leave it honestly
Yeah I wouldn’t drive it....that’s a little sketch I’d be afraid it just destroy the paint of the whipple
Measure twice cut once
Just paint it black
First world problems...
Id just paint the whipple black
Whomever cut the center vent and actually let the car leave the shop looking like a fourth grader went to town on it. Who did that JENK ass install? @1:40 OMG bro get your money back
so you don't drive the car so you don't scratch the supercharger? hahahahahahaha so sad
Whipple probs 😂
Clean car but I wouldn’t call an sc kit and tune heavily modified though
lol you obviously have no clue, but thanks for visiting my channel
Paint the supercharger.
Race car problems
Honestly i dont like the way the hood looks Eder
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 you could have made a .500 inch riser on a 3d printer
Dude! You sound like your man-Gina is killing you. Black wrap the top of the whipple where it shows then drive it to Walgreens and get yourself some Vagasil!
It looks so aggressive
Hahahahahahah why the FUCK would you do that. 😆
Shoulda just got a fake one
You hear so many stories off guy’s pursuit of having scoops on bonnets, theses car companies spend big dollars on airflows and heating problems, if your not having any of those problems most of the time your really better of leaving it alone, goes to the old saying if it’s not broke leave it alone. Sometimes people get them for the cosmetic looks, especially if you do car shows as well...
nice car
Sh** 🔥 🔥 🔥
Just take off the hood and send it lol
Get a knew hood.
Flip it
Yeppers
This guy😂😂😂
Bla..bla..bla
Ahahaha
Loose the stickers, it looks like a ricer. From a fellow Mustang owner.
Louvers belong on Jeeps.
Pffft looks stupid if it doesn’t clear the whipple.could’ve gotten a much better job done or aftermarket hood to clear the top but also look really mean
