I’m glad Tim May pushed back against this ‘Lincoln Keinholz was unprepared’ narrative. No QB is ‘prepared’ to play behind an O-line that sucks ass.

Ryan Day knew for a month that Devon Brown would be the starting quarterback and Lincoln Keinholz would be the backup. This should not have been a surprise. It appeared as if it never occurred to the coaching staff that this could happen. They had a month! How on earth could that never have occurred to them? I have resisted being overly critical of Ryan Day but we now have a rather abysmal track record against *ichigan and now we have last night on his increasingly troubling resume. I thought Ohio State was next man up university. Apparently not under Ryan Day. Urban Meyer had one week with third string quarterback Cardale Jones and he led us to a national championship. I don't expect that level of success but come on. This was a joke. The entire offense looked unprepared and we had very few who opted out. That has to be on the coaching staff. I saw one person criticizing the defense. How on earth could you criticize the defense? They played lights out through most of the game until it was basically over in the fourth quarter. They got no support from the offense. The defensive coaching and play were stellar. The offense was abysmal. That is on Ryan Day.

When tOSU lost to Bama about 3 years ago, maybe 4, in the NC game, Coach Saban was asked what was next. He said he would celebrate 1 day, then start recruiting.
Ryan Day was asked the same question.

    tOSU’s problem is the HC

Buckeyes major problem is bad Offense coaching. A bad QB coach, a below-average Offensive Line coach. Bad Play Calling. For a change try to talk about bad coaching instead of always dissecting players only. Ryan Day's ceiling is this, and things will get worse with him at the helm.

Why does everyone spare the OC Brian Hartline when criticizing the offensive?? He’s the coordinator of the ENTIRE offense!! What is he doing? If Day is running the ENTIRE offense, why is he paying Hartline to occupy space. Hartline should be “learning” to OC at Akron or something. The offense didn’t look this bad when Kevin Wilson was here! Day’s coaching staff choices/the way he runs the team is a problem. Fire Hartline or get a co-coordinator to cover for him (while he learns). He’s useless come gameday. & preparing for it too! What does he know bout anything other than WRs? Day gotta man-up and make “adult” decisions about his staff.

I do not get how the Buckeyes can crush most big ten teams,
and a few non-conference teams as well, and then muster only
three points in their bowl game. They go undefeated until the
last game of the season, and fold like an accordion. Still, they
did beat some good teams in 2023.This loss will knock them
out of the top ten, and that is something one would not expect
with all their great recruiting skills. That DC of Missouri threw
everything but the kitchen sink at the line of OSU, and that
is probably why OSU does not score more then 14 points.
OSU will make the necessary adjustment for next year, and they
still get those good recruits coming in.

    • @greatwhyteshark

The fact you said all of that and probably still should've beat Michigan just proves how overrated the big ten is and has been. You're a two team conference and Washington and Oregon gonna pull a lot of trains next year. Choo-choo

To a lesser extent, we lost a few of our own best players. But, we, as Mizzou fans, know as well as anybody, that you go into battle with the army that you have, not the army that you wish you have. I was talking with my wife about this, Ohio state DB wanted to talk all week about a game that ended more than a month ago and specifically the refs. But if mizzou gets the ball there at that point in the game keinholz likely comes in earlier because mizzou scores quick and they don’t have time to tape brown up, mizzou takes a lead into the half and pours it on. Ohio State is VERY lucky they “missed” that call. Just like the fumble that stroud had in 2022.

It didn't matter who was at QB. Lincoln is a true freshman who is not going to be as prepared to play 3 quarters in a bowl game like someone who has been there for 2-3 years. More importantly, he wasn't going to be able to do squat with that offensive line. Yes, special teams made too many mistakes and Meyer's son-in-law needs to be removed from that position. However, let's be clear, it starts and ends with that O line and their piss poor pathetic showing. Justin Frye, who has also not been the greatest recruiter, is one who also needs to be removed.

That poor utilization led directly to John Cooper earning the moniker "Mr. 2-10-1".
I honestly thought that, with the Notre Dame game, Ryan Day had finally come into his own and became part of Ohio State lore. I'm ashamed to say that last night he made me look like a fool. Edit: Watching this video, I realized how bad ST were and I agree ST needs serious changes. The coaches did an awful job preparing Lincoln in case he had to play. I also think this isn't on Lincoln and this isn't a fare evaluation of him. Day also needs to not save all his trick plays (example wildcat and ebuka attempting a pass) until the last game of the year we should have seen this against UM. O-line needs to be attacked in the portal and day has to stop calling plays. I think an OC needs to come in to start calling plays until brian is ready or for awhile if he proves he can be a good OC

POOR showing is an understatement! The fact that a walk-on RB at Missouri impacted the game with 128 yards of tough, hard-nosed, smash-mouth running, because Missou's coach was persistent to stick with the run game, while one of the best RB's in college football, TreVeyon Henderson DOES NOT go over 100 yards (19 carries, 72 yards) because HC Ryan Day ABANDONED the run like he always does in his pass every down, run occasionally offense, ought to tell Buckeye fans that Ryan Day IS NOT the coach for Ohio State Buckeye football. The sooner the Buckeyes FIRE him, the better. Jim Harbaugh and TTUN have told you the truth, "you are not a tough" football team under Ryan Day! The Buckeyes needed to be establishing the run, especially with QB Devin Brown's first start and a freshman QB tonight. The fact that Missouri was able to run the ball effectively, setting up their passing game, and Ohio State's stellar defense COULD NOT STOP the run in the 2nd half and eventually got worn down because Ryan Day DID NOT commit to the run to control clock, maximize possessions, and keep the defense fresh, ought to tell Buckeye fans that it is time to move on from Ryan Day. The sooner, the better! WHAT good does it do to get top recruits at Ohio State and to not utilize them properly? HC Ryan Day had over a month to prepare this football team, the OL looked pathetic, the players were flat and unmotivated, and he got COMPLETELY out-coached in the 2nd half!

Urban would been prepared.,Also until we address the Q.B. situation Ohio state will be lucky to ever play in another bowl game. I think a new head coach is an excellent start

This team has fallen into complete disarray. It is obvious that Ryan day should be relieved of his duties as head coach. The recruiting program has suffered under him as well as star players, decommitting and entering the transfer portal. It's time for the madness to stop.

Recruiting has suffered? Michigan can’t even dream about getting all those 5 star athletes. They got none this year.

@sheneedsme Then explain the total meltdown that we witnessed this past Friday. Why does he not have another 5 star recruit at quarterback waiting to step in from the one who jumps ship, why are players entering the transfer portal and de-comitting????

O-line and Ryan day the reason we loss these things don’t happen at Alabama Georgia even Michigan I just don’t understand why osu keeps underachieving with all the talent it’s has 5 stars after 5 stars and can’t even win our own conference

Man, Brown is ALWAYS hurt! Every time we get a chance to: "see what he can do" he gets (or is) injured.

Agree. He's proved to be injury prone so I don't see how he can be even considered to be the starter in 2024.

He is too fragile to play QB at OSU. He is Bubble Boy Brown.

Exactly. He's already showed me enough. Cut him. I don't want him either, he's not good enough.

Mizzou fan. OSU’s defense was outstanding. No one shuts down Mizzou offense like they did for 3 quarters. It’s tough to say if Harrison and McCord play OSU wins the game. Mizzou was w/o both starting LBs and a starting CB. Even if they play McCord wouldn’t have time to throw and allow routes to develop. I think if everyone on both sides play Mizzou likely still wins. Talk about being unprepared but from my perspective the entire OSU program lacked respect for Mizzou and thought they were a 2nd tier team.

Yes Missouri put pressure on them and loaded the box you’re getting paid $10 million a year to figure out how to run a couple screens or do something different they made you want to on dimensional it was embarrassing

Tim, you response to Andy's comment about the qb's not being prepared, says it all. You're as lost as the coaching staff. Andy is 100%. When the rb has to tell the qb and ol whats going on and what coverage they're the other team is in, its clear the qb is unprepared. ALL they're problems are coaching. Sad. A waste of talent

If your head coach is an offensive coach, and the offense sucks, then why is he still the head coach?
