The wild part of this that gets me is that throughout all these interviews Danny does, the interviewers (and I don’t completely blame all these interviewers to know Danny’s personal lifestyle & health then) continue to entertain Danny’s confessing of his problems. Like “Oh you did coke today & you’re in Amsterdam? Well you know what Amsterdam is known for right?”/“Oh you’re drunk? How much do you like to drink?”
I get they’re not thinking “I’m interviewing someone with a serious problem” but I would at least think someone would try to change topics after someone tells you they’re straight up abusing drugs & alcohol

I remember the Seattle incident like it was yesterday and Ben's damage control was incredible. Although Danny was absolutely shit housed you need to give him and the band credit for finishing out the tour where most others would have called it quits. This era was a weird time and I completely agree Danny completely changed after that incident. We did get some wild interviews that I loved though. What's wild to me is he had and still does...the vocals to have gone absurdly heavy if they wanted to (see the mitch lucker performance). I still hold out hope that we'll get a song heavier than Morte Et Dabo.

I went to the Still Reckless tour back in my prime scene kid days - Trivium didn't play that date (Charleston, SC) and Dir En Grey had dropped off the tour at that point because their singer needed surgery I think, so it was the hypest scene band lineup you could think of: Asking Alexandria, Motionless In White, I See Stars, and The Amity Affliction right as they were becoming prominent stateside. And it was a truly great show, I remember Danny in particular being really on point during Asking's set.

that switch to his "hard rock" vocals from the screams was because he couldn't do that high pitched screech the way he was and how often. thats also why Oli Sykes went from the demonic screeching on This Is What The Edge Of Your Seats For and Count Your Blessings to a more heavy growl and more hardcore tone on Suicide Season and thereafter going forward. that high pitched screeching sounds so amazing but it is so bad for your throat if you're doing it too long and too much. both Danny and Oli can still do it, they just know better than to do it on every song I think

@@brendangibson8200 exactly, which is why they damaged their vocal chords and can't do it anymore lol they were doing it wrong in the beginning until both of them blew out their chords. I don't think you can do that shrill high pitched stuff long term period. like 5 years of touring and it's either switch it or stop it seems from what I've seen. there's still high pitched stuff out there, but I feel like early bmth and early AA both stand out as the best sounding but unsustainable growls lol jeez sorry for the book

I was at the FDTD album release show and this was my favorite era of AA. It resonated with me. But in general, AA resonated with me the most because Danny did. I didn't get into this emo, scene stuff very hard but was interested in a lot of the heavier bands that were a part of the warped tour scene and when AA came out, somewhere in the beginning of 2010 or so, I became enthralled with Danny because he was so relatable and he was the only "scene" vocalist who really was the essence of rock n roll in the warped tour scene. Way more than Radke and Biersack. Like in his interviews when he would say that WASP, Winger, Tesla, and RATT were his influences, I thought that was so cool because those were the type of bands my parents raised me on and you would get all these sceny, whiny, fanboys and fangirls being like, "Ewwww, he likes rock, ewwww, he's not a cute emo boy anymore." He really trolled that scene and I loved every moment of it.

what’s interesting about Danny’s rock n roll/metal duality is that meanwhile, Andy biersack was starting to be cast typed as the hair metal party guy that danny wanted to probably be. However, Andy’s influences were much more rooted in punk bands and his intention was to be more of a lyricist who spoke about what mattered to him rather than write songs about partying and typical rock and roll cliches.

i didn't know that I needed this but damn, such a good video. FDTD 'til the moment it's their best album. good lyrics, good sound, good vocal. I know that has some songs that aren't that good, but the ones that are, kick other's song asses. for me 2013 album was the way from danny to say goodbye. even though that the album with dennis it has the old sound of AA, FDTD their best job.

From Death To Destiny is the most mature Asking Alexandria album by a mile.
Self-Titled and beyond may be classed as "mature" but they are just bland.
This was where they were at a mature stage but also still interesting and powerful and real.
Danny sounded and looked like he genuinely went through the wars around this time.
