to anyone who mods their g502 x plus, DO NOT remove the rgb. the mouse will not power on if you do. mega weird

yea why would u remove the rgb if u bought the rgb version which is the g502 x plus model for that just buy the lighspeed version that doesnt have rgb what a braindead move

@@ikillyaksara1147 this was back when the 502x was fairly new and when you could find the rgb for less money than the non rgb variant.

Thanks for writing this...thought I broke it. Yes I know ''WhY DiD I buY tHe RgB VeRsIOn''....but I rather leave the cable out and save power then Ghub decided to force lights on....
I think its those 2 chips on the board I wondeer if you could cut the lights and leave the chips....I did break 1 rgb light off and it still works.

BOB! Love your videos man, super informative. I got the g502x plus and did the same weight reduction you outlined and got it down to 84 grams! My first mouse mod, I am super happy. I have a question I can’t find the answer to anywhere:
Is it possible to remove the RGB strip and have the mouse still work?
You mention something about removing the rgb on another mouse, but when I pulled the strip out of the PCB the mouse would t start. Can I clip the strip down to the control chip?
If anybody in the comments has any thought, let me know.
    Thank you!

how much weight do you reduce from the battery replacement? I got it down to 88g just by removing the plastic. Mine is the lightspeed one btw

do you think it's possible to remove the transparent plastic part which is in the middle between the clickers without damaging it? I think it would look cooler and make it even lighter

Makes you wonder why they didnt release it like that in the first place. Some people seem to love bricks lol

My guess is it's built like that to make it as robust as possible to avoid any QC complaints.

@@dooogfellathey are more people who think heavy weight is good than people who think light weight is important^^ Don't get me wrong. Light weight is always better but most people don't know it and in the end it is way easier to control higher weight with the first touch since u need a little but of practise with light weight.

@@Beardedbob Thanks for the tear down....I feel I cut more out then you did but still ended up with 89.3g...Took out the RBG grey plastic area and just have the lights floating, I also drilled holes everywhere that was a sold area. Only thing I didn't take off was the plastic clips that connect the top and bottom housing. And got rid of the stock feet and used my own PTFE stickers. And added a usbC magnetic cable to make charging easier to total 90g in the end.
If I can find a good set of grip tape I would consider drilling holes all over the top panels and clickers but for now its fine.
