I just wanted to say a massive thank you to all you crazies that helped me reach 100,000 subs. This is far from my first attempt at TH-cam -- it’s more like the 5th (a story for another time) -- and it’s all a little unbelievable. But, truly, thank you. Also, check out DailyDunkaccino if you can. They’re planning on closing the account in a month (mid July 2021), so show ‘em some love before it’s too late.
I'm one of the newcomers with your most recent video, but I'm excited to check out the rest of the videos and see what's to come, they're very well made!
This was seriously well-produced. High-quality eye candy right there.Speaking of candy, I am loving my Nestle'TM' Nesquik chocolate goodness drink right now.
@@kulvirkang7953 He's talking about the air conditioning unit from the end of the video where he's watching the projected video on his wall with the mini split's evaporator/blower. I guess it's a Mitsubishi, I didn't really pay it any mind so Idk if the brand is that or if it's even visible or not but I'm pretty sure that's what he's referring to.
It’s really interesting, because although you can certainly see movies selling out artistic merit with product placement, with the James Bond franchise it’s actually always been a part of it - the Ian Fleming novels would always mention Bond’s choice of Gordon’s gin, his Bentley 4 1/2 litre and his brand of cigarettes. It’s actually very immersive, maybe a little hammier in the films but still interesting nonetheless.
Walther must be paying by the truckload. _Casino Royale_ (2006) has a tonne of product placements: Sony (owners of Columbia Pictures) had it's phones, laptops, cameras, Blu-ray players in the film. Omega watches, Virgin Airlines, Ford (Aston Martin, Jaguar, Volvo) just to name a few more.
As a motion designer myself, I really appreciate how much you give attention to the animations, title sequences and overall editing of your videos! I can't get my head round the prices that some companies were paying for like a half second glimpse of their logo, like does that actually pay off? Because it seems to me that it would just go over everyone's heads, especially seeing as were all always bathing in marketing so we've developped thicker skin...
Never heard of 'subliminal advertising'? That's what modern pp is, and could give a masterclass in it. Always subtle, always classy. wouldn't do it if it didn't work.
@@greebo7857 Actually, there is no actual scientific evidence that subliminal advertising actually works (and advertising that is directly subliminal is banned, here in the US at least). The problem with a lot of this advertising is that the brain isn’t even processing most of it on a subconscious level, often times it’s so off the center of attention people don’t even see the object in question, much less the brand associated with it. Subliminal advertising and advertising in general is not very useful for very expensive and life changing products (cars, mortgage companies, etc.) as MOST people don’t buy these products on a whim, they do so after intrinsically evaluating the reasons behind these particular decisions. Advertising only really is useful when it tackles immediate biological wants and needs (such as food, its one of the few kinds of TV advertisements that actually work).
Just discovering your channel - I am blown away. As someone who's relatively new to editing, the graphics on this video (especially the Jules Verne part) are so clean and well done. Subscribed!
I'm actually writing my bachelor thesis on product placement, so the most amazing part of the video is that you dug up actual sums on how much companies paid^^ That seems to be rather difficult. And usually there is no payment.
I was saying the EXACT same thing in my head! "Does this ad exist in some parallel universe??" Paccino must've gotten paid a movies-worth for that commercial.
Can I just say, small detail but your choice of background music is great, combined with the listing of all tracks used so I can find the full version. Not a lot of youtubers go through the trouble for that, but I appreciate it and I am sure others do too.
I am now in binge watching mode - do you use After Effects, Motion or Fusion for these motion graphics? They are so smooth it’s ridiculous and the way they are integrated into the video is just outstanding.
lol love the subtle Inside reference. probably one of my favorite pieces of comedy to come out recently and it’s great to see it appreciated, especially in such a funny and appropriate way.
First video I've seen of yours, instantly subbed. Product placement is weird. It takes me out of a movie if I see fake brands, but it also takes me out of a movie if a product placement is too obvious. If it's done right (like that E. T. scene) I don't mind it. If it's done bad (Dunkaccino), it's REALLY bad.
Everything is an ad though. The music you listen to is an ad for that artist. The show you watch is an ad for that actor. And celebrities are paid to wear certain clothes in public. The sneakers you see a rapper wearing, a company paid them thousands of dollars to wear them. I found this out when I heard that Reebok had fired and sued Rick Ross for wearing Nikes. I had no idea that Rick Ross even worked for Reebok, as he was never in any of their ads, and campaigns. Heck, the stuff they show on the TVs at bars and restaurants are paid for. I once asked a guy at a restaurant if he could change to channel, because I had wanted to see a particular program, and he said that they couldn't, because the channel they had it on paid the restaurant to keep it on that channel.
Some ads are so effective, they have adverse effects. There are some things I refuse to buy, because I have a negative connotation to an ad that they play over, and over, and over again. Or even worse, you become the Nationwide Insurance superbowl ad. The one where the kid never has his first kiss because he died. That was bad for them. Or the Kendall Jenner Pepsi ad.
But also, if a company doesn't pay, and their product is used (particularly in an unsavory fashion) that company will sue. Which is why you have so many fake brands in movies and TV. and its getting even crazier now with NFTs, because then they will sue over copyright infringement. So it's either, you have the company pay, or create a fake parody brand.
I love these videos! So well done with charm and a bit of hilarity. I don’t even care about product placement but I still click knowing I’ll have a good time watching. Thank you!
