Here is a perfect example of what NOT to do with your underground buried downspouts.
I want to show you guys why you do not just run a gutter out 10 feet. Fifteen years ago this buried downspout was done by a landscaper. First of all, they did not use a pop-up with a turf restrictor plate so the grass is always growing over the discharge and then when there's a really hard rain it'll actually blow water up out of the grass. The problem is, this should never have been discharged this close to the home. 10 feet? That's too close.
Now actually this downspout should have been ran towards the street and ran another 20-25 feet away from the home. I'm going to show you what this costs the homeowner. When it dumps water in this area the water ends up just collecting on the walk and the area stays saturated .The beautiful brick veneering it's only 15 years old and it's already separating because of this.

Thank you for your videos!I watched a lot of your videos. Ive been having very bad flooding driveway issues, really massive, when water stands for 5 days to the ankle. Finally I was able to find drainage specialists. they sound like they know what they doing. also Ive watched many videos of yours, so I could get an idea of their plan. I got estimate for job and I really want to make sure Im not getting overcharged lol. is there a way you could briefly look at the estimate somehow? Id totally understand if you cant. its large area and they quoted me 8200$ for a bnuch of stuff. thank you in advance.

Landscapers seem to botch these drain installations quite frequently

No it's a 2 hour drive loaded with equipment one way. I don't have anyone I would recommend. DIY the project we can sell you what you need.

i am so worried about my drainage at my house. Have been in here 13 years, and for some reason it is just occurring to me that these downspouts that go straight into the ground are very concerning. My floor moves more than I think it should in both corners where the gutters go underground. From my brief searching here today, I think i need to start digging up the drainage. Ugh. I tried to hire someone to crawl under my house and check my foundation, but because the space is less than 2 feet from ground to base of house, they won't do any work. But hey, I got a house in a location that i wanted.

At 1:28 you mentioned that the landscape bed acts like a French drain. Will the water get under the foundation if there’s no pipe?
