    Watching your videos brings back fond memories of customizing toys as a kid. Mego large figures were always more fun when the characters were existing comicbook heroes, villains and supporting that had no figures that I then could step back afterwards and know they didn't exist before I created them and that they were one of a kind. And the best part was when the accessories were taken from either some unrelated line or, even better, from something that wasn't even a toy. From then on I could spot "hidden toys" among everything from ladies' hats to simple everyday kitchen items. Great job as always with the fixing and improving the playset.

    This is for sure one of the most interesting builds and fixes you have done for one of your videos, very interesting, even inspiring and a bit motivational. Well done, it turned out really good, thanks for a great video!

    The Fortress of Fangs is a playset that I have always admired from afar. I am continually impressed by its striking appearance and abundant play features...and with this video i remain continually impressed by your ingenuity and artistry. Thanks for everything, Dave!

    Great repair Dave! Surprised you didn't mold the skull with blue stuff a fill it with white milliput to make a duplicate

  • @RandiRain
    @RandiRain ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You're not kidding on the price they want for these pieces. If you want... You could send me the skull, and any other piece, and I can mold and cast some for you. I could do a video on in it on my channel.

    There's a variety of Playmobil skulls with that might could replace the one on the gate. 30 20 5210 is one that looks the part and they have a similar construction to the bottom. It is probably slightly larger (they measure approx. 14 mm wide (there's also 30 07 7072 that looks bigger, but is actually slightly narrower, with open eye sockets and same underside)) The hole in the underside is larger as well (approx. 4 mm, which seems to be the standard Playmobil rod size), but some tube or electrical tape can maybe make that fit as replacements. Hope that helps!

      Great idea, but eBay is notorious for asking top dollar for like-new items. Let’s hope Dave gets lucky in that regard.

    • @brentbanks8021
      @brentbanks8021 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those Playmobil skulls wouldn't be identical to the original playset skulls, but they could be used as orc or hobgoblin skills for a personalized Fortress of Fangs...
      Thank you for recommending them!
      As I wasn't even thinking along that route...

    It's such a pleasure watching you restore these vintage toys Dave, I know you'd be doing this stuff even if you wasn't filming it for TH-cam as its clear to see you genuinely love what you do, but it would be such a shame if no one could see you at work as you are so damn good at it mate - it's really satisfying seeing an old toy brought back to it's former glory with a few nifty tricks. Thanks Dave.

    Excellent video as always. I've been trying to restore my Fortress of Fangs for going on four years now. I'm going to have to upgrade a few things after seeing what you've done with yours. The arch over the gate looks so much nicer than the 3-D printed one I've been using.

      @@toypolloi After 2018 parts for the Fortress of Fangs just seemed to skyrocket. And then got even more insane after a certain thing that made most of us stay home happened...

    I'm surprised there's no one out there who offers 70s Spider-Man conversion/customizing kits for all the major figure lines. It seems like it'd be easy enough; the belt and wristbands should be simple enough and maybe even the eye lenses (gluables with a little bit of border for covering of the figures original eyes.

    Cool playset & great fixes. If it was Me, though, I'd have glued the arch of pipe onto the flat piece first, then cut our the centre piece. It would have taken an element of faff out of the process and be easier to keep everything straight.

While it's probably a whole other thing, you might be able to cast the skull on the gate and the extra stones for that catapult panel in the front.
