- Running one of the biggest orienteering races 10Mila. Orienteering is my favorite sport so it's so fun to finally share an orienteering video again on my channel.

Please do more orienteering content, I would love to more about it!
Glad to hear, yeah will probably make some more orienteering content in the future 😊
Night orienteering is just something else! I love that discipline! This year, I even managed to become national champion in Denmark in M35! :D
I really love this type of content!!! Please continue!!!
Glad to hear 😁
great job explaining everything. Goran is a great teacher.
Thanks 😊
Great video! Would love a future video on how an average runner can get started on orienteering
I returned to orienteering after 18 years, I ended my then career at the doctor's request because I had a nasty fatigue fracture. As the national champion in the categories M16, M18 and M20, I dreamed of performances at the world championships for seniors, jukla and 10 mila. When I started watching your videos I didn't even know you were into orienteering, I came here because I was looking for better guidance on how to improve my running and deal with injuries that have been holding me back since I got back into this sport, after a few vidios back then u mentioned orienteerig.
I really love this type of orienteering content! Please continue more about orienteering! Very nice video!
Thank you! Will probably do some more orienteering content in the future!
I have never heard of this sport but it seems awesome! Very cool video.
Thanks glad to hear, you should try it out 😁
Wow! First time hearing about this type of race. Thanks for exposing us to it! Looks really fun!
Nothing compares to running 10mila or Jukola! Especially when running with the pressure & excitement of a top team. 🤩
Very good video! Would love to see more orienteering videos. It was great how you explained your route choices.
Great comeback to orienteering relays, grattis Göran! And very nice that you posted this orienteering video :) Will we see you Jukola?
Thanks! No Jukola this year but hopefully next year 😊
@@goranwinbladThen Oringen 😁
You should definetely make more orienteering videos. I myself used to do orienteering but watching this made me want to start again.
Fun that you're uploading orienteering videos again😊 I ran for Alfta Ösa OK on 10mila🏃♂️
Nice video as always. I started orienteering 50 years ago in the UK, tried night events when I carried my bicycle front lamp in one hand! Things have changed since then. I found night races were not for me, it was too disconcerting not seeing where my feet were landing. So when I did a night relay with my club I ran a late leg in the early morning light. Still competing 50 years later, now in the US. Look forward to any more orienteering videos you make.
I loved this video! Congrats for the great race to the whole team! More orienteering content, please!!😊
Thanks! 😊
First time watching a race like this, it's more like navigation test than a running race🧭
Well it’s both that’s what makes it so fun and challenging. To be amongst the best you need to be an elite level runner as well and then manage to run close to your max heart rate while navigating 😁
@@goranwinblad I could imagine running so hard would make it easier to make mistakes. Focusing becomes a much greater challenge. Just from watching this makes me want to do some orienteering. I will have to see what there is in my area 😊
I have been waiting for you to do orienteering content! I think with your audience you can bring a lot of new pairs of eyes to the most beautiful sport on earth!❤
How did I miss this upload! My home town and home trails for running and biking. Hope you enjoyed your visit, Ill do a 20k run with the dog tomorrow and will pass that area!
First time commenting, discovered your channel couple of years ago because of the previous orienteering content, love the great running advice, and super happy to see this new orienteering video! It gives a great impression of the race and atmosphere. I usually run city sprint races in Belgium but would love to experience the 10mila or jukola one day 😊
The GOAT of orienteering videos is back!
Sorry about your team DSQ! I ran the same leg on Nydalen's Old Boys team, we had the same forkings for the first 8 controls and you executed them much better than what I did! I do place a bit of blame on how my 67 year old eyes are starting to have problems reading a really detailed 1:10K map like this, I much prefer 1:7500!
Some awesome Orienteering footage, love it!
WoW, epic! great footage Goran, I would get lost ;-)
Great inside in this sport, the combination of elite running and navigation looks like a lot of fun!
Grym sträcka, grym video!
Aww, I miss orienteering. Fun to see a former pro do the "long night" at Tiomila
Next stop Jukola!
SO happy to see orienterring on your channel! And well done on a great race! :D
Thanks glad to hear 😊
Ya´ll really need to attend Jukolan Viesti in finland!
Yeah have ran Jukola Viesti 14 times live that relay as well! Will not run it this year but planning to go next year 😁
@@goranwinbladamazing!! I really have to consider turning up as a cheerleader next year, or as a tour guide 😄 You have helped me alot in my health recovery (2 slipped disks) with your beginner guides and other videos, so that would be the least i could do for you in return ❤ Ran my first 5k event as a result week ago, and next one is 08.06 in Helsinki 🤓 Keep doing what you do, and being who you are!
Been following for a long time, and apparently this time I got to make an appearance at 6:29 😊. First time for me, and not really a good race. But super fun and cool experience! Would love to come back in the future. We have a really young team, so expecting to improve the results!
This was an awesomely exciting watch. The shots from the sky seeing all the runners lights were really mesmerizing.🙏🏾🫡🫀🏃🏾♂️🏋🏾♂️🚴🏾♂️
Thanks, glad you like the vid!
What an outstanding race! Great job!
I love your videos!
Thanks, glad to hear 😁
Frankly I haven’t heard of it in India! I am sure it is happening in the mountains. Must be a very adventurous run! As of now it is 47C outside (Delhi), no way that I will step out for a run! Thanks for sharing.
Great visuals to follow along!
This looks so fun! And the production quality is amazing! How is your camera not shaking while running?
Very cool! I didn’t know this was a thing. Looks so much fun.
Yeah it’s a super fun and demanding sport! 😁
Well done. 👍 you are amazing. Love your videos🎉
Thank you so much! 😁
What a banger. Legend.
amazing video, one of your very best!!
Thanks glad to hear 😁
This was sooo much fun!!!
You should try the Barkley Marathon 😊
Haha yeah would love to one day!
I'm pretty interested in stuff like this, I've bought a compass and been researching how to use it. I haven't tried it properly yet though, I'm thinking of going to one of our local common lands to get some practice. It's nice and open with a big hill so got a good landmark for my bearings.
TH-cam is your friend for learning.
Great video with amazing footage!
Thanks a lot!
This made me miss my school days, currently living in japan and missing the forest is one of the big things.
Hope you get to go to a forest soon again 😁
So cool! Well done👍
Thank you 🤗
It’s been years (COVID got me out of it) but tomorrow I’m going to do.a 5K O (which will probably be 10k because i’m not that skilled.) and take 2hrs because i’m not that fast. but i’m excited!
Excelente ❤❤❤me ha encantado y motivado 😊
Glad to hear 😁
Now I want to run one of these races too lol
Glad to hear 😁 it’s an amazing way of running when you get into it, try to find a local orienteering club where you live most places have some orienteering events.
17 000 people run the Jukola relay in Finland every year in mid-June
Snyggt. Synd på dq i slutet
Roligt att se orientering på denna kanal! Jag sprang också sjätte sträckan iår, alltid en utmaning med nattorientering
Ok kul att höra 😊
Love from Malaysia ❤
Whoa I never knew this existed! Are there orienteering events in the US?
Yes absolutely. Seacrh for the US orienteering federation, and find your state’s organization. I’m part of the Michigan club.
How do they stop people from just following others? Is it just the risk of getting it wrong?
On most of the legs you have so called "forkings", where you can have a control which is split up into two or more controls, where half of the runners have one control and the other half has the other control. This is to spread the runners out and make it harder to follow others, but if you're lucky you'll still have the same control as the runner you're following. On this leg, the first control was forked, which meant that Göran had a different first control than half of the field.
@@Vevn18 Thanks for the explanation!
Seems pretty difficult, I wonder how they check if you miss a control point.
Yeah it is but super fun, you have a chip in your hand that you place on all the controls that register that you have been there and then they check the chip after you finished that you have been at all your controls in the right order 😊
Which headlight do you recommend? I've had my eye on the nitecore UT27. I don't yet do night time trail running, and just want something more for safety and so I can see the road clearly when I go running at night.
Thanks for making such a great video that I can send to my normie friends.
Jukola next
Will not run this year, but love that relay as well and hope to be back next year 😊
I really love the video, but why did you end your elite orienteering carrer so early?
Thanks glad to hear, a combination of a heart condition I have that caused me to stop training for a year and got me thinking that I wanted to be able to spend time on other things in life like having kids (and giving them the time they deserve), creating inspiring films/videos and coaching others. I don’t regret the years I spent as an elite athlete but in this time of my life these other things gives me a lot more and feels way more meaningful 😊
@@goranwinblad Jag tänkte fråga om du inte funderat på att satsa igen med tanke på hur bra du navigerar men fick mitt svar här och du har helt klart gjort ett bra val :) Snyggt jobbat och riktigt kul att få följa med!
Its a great sport, but I tend to get to involved and anxious, and much to competitive than my mediocre level can handle :-D
Haha yeah it’s easy to run a bit to fast and focusing to little on the orienteering 😅
What Jonasjoko294 said...
Hi Göran, what do you think about running twice a day
Hi! I think it’s great most would benefit from doing shorter runs some days but splitting them into two runs instead.
@@goranwinblad I am doing a self provocation for a week running twice daily, your videos motivate me, keep it up
I would! But I would get lost :D
😅
Last leg really? Oh no :/. Congratz on your leg.
No
Simple answer. No.
Think you needed a better team.
@goranwinblad great video and thanks for sharing 🙌you did great. Congratulations 👏👏👏💪💪💪
Thank you 🙌
I love you Göran, all your content is fantastic but I love seeing the orienteering videos, you are orienteering’s last hope 🥲
Thanks glad to hear, yeah might do some more orienteering videos in the future, nice to spread the word about our amazing sport 😁
