What really stands out is how the guys mixed their records back then. They have that great low end thumping bass and drums that really pound through in the mix. You just don't hear records mixed that way anymore.
Saw them open for Seger and then Petty around the mid-80s. Did a great cover of Chuck Berry's School Days with either Dan or Rick really trilling the 'r' on "Drrrrrrrrrop the coin right into the slot .." And all their great original material live. Next time I saw them it was 89 or 90 just before Dan left the band and they were touring for "Salvation and Sin." You could tell they were burning out .. but the album itself is really good. Like G 'n' R, The Band, Rod Stewart rolled in one.
This has been one of my favorite albums since it came out almost 30 years ago. Hard to believe it's still so good after this much time. That's just good rock n roll.
If you talk about the Satellites you have to mention the Black Crowes. Both amazing bands that really didn't get the dues they deserved during their times.
Quite possibly their best song. The video is kind of silly and does not really fit the mood of the song. I saw the Satellites in St. louis early in their career on a rotating stage , no less! One of the best shows I have seen.

This was filmed at Northern Illinois University in April, 1987. It was the first date with my future wife. Great memories and a really fun show.
I was at that show as well. They said if you wanted to stick around after the concert was over, they were going to shoot more footage for the video.
Thanks for posting this, man. The Satellites are one of my favorites.

Man Danny Baird rocks your socks off haha. Satellites and black crowes are the best rock bands after 70's. End of discussion :).

Good while they lasted
maybe its because its hard to find an audience for a country blues/rock band which has the hair metal look
