I enjoy watching you show different products, even dollar tree stuff. You always manage to make something cool. Cheap stamps are great for crafting with kids (especially if you have a group) and do have their place. Worth it for the sentiments for sure. Your honest reviews hooked me way back when I started watching you and I haven't regretted buying things you've recommended. I like the half-tone look on tissue paper for mixed media type stuff. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for sharing your creative ideas. I find that if I use a nail file on acrylic stamps and file lightly over the surface, the stamps accepts the ink better, and I usually get great results from them. Some people use an eraser, but I find that a light filing does the trick. Crafty greetings!
TY! I know these tricks! It's not the stamp surface, it's the design. As you saw, the sentiment stamps and basic leaf outlines worked well. The design of the florals was just weird!
Hmm, I have learned from this to not bother with Dollar Tree stamps. I actually do not have a DT nearby so do not go often to ones far away. I do like those sentiments too though. Wow, yeah about the rude comments. I totally enjoy your talking and thoughts and telling us things. As far as ones talking about rustling, as a crafter, I love crackling and paper rustling etc. It is a big part of my crafting life. Hope you have a fabulous Memorial Day Weekend. I am catching up with your videos.
I like some of the Dollar Tree stamps some I do not. About 8 years ago, I gave away over 150 stamps, ATG tape dispenser , cropadile etc. Of course, when the pandemic hit, my love of crafting (cardmaking) was reignited big time. Now would love to have all my supplies back.
Oh my too bad…it would cost you quite a lot to replace all that stuff. I used to quilt but I just don’t have the time for it anymore and I never really made much. I have decided I am going to start destashing MOST of my quilting fabric….I already sold a Big Shot Pro Quilting Edition extended die cutting machine. I just can’t get rid of ALL the beautiful quilting fabric though…at least right now. I’m thinking any creative activity I do that if I decide I’m not interested anymore that I should save at least a small amount of the stash in case I ever get the hankering to do it again. Hopefully you’ll be able to slowly build your supplies back up. 😊
The dollar tree near me is expanding from a very small store to triple its size but is not re-opening until June. So I’ll have to scope out wha the new store Carrie’s for craft supplies. Thanks for the demo.
Just so you know sometimes clear stamps need to be conditioned like rub the surface with an eraser and stamp it a few times with different inks. Hope this helps. I have the same stamps and they were not stamping well u til I used them a dozen tries.
I've been stamping for well over 20 years...I know all the tricks! LOL! Here is a video I put out on my original channel years ago, and then reuploaded here all about stamp types and tricks: th-cam.com/video/nEwUszjrDaA/w-d-xo.html
I was "lucky" to find some in my store last week. Fresh boxes, had to open shipment myself. 😂😂 Yeah some of them stuck to the cardboard and were defective. I'll just call them distressed. 😂😂 The ones that come in the "taller, thinner" pks seem to stamp a lot more clear than the ones in the short, square packs.
I think you did a fantastic job, the tag was the way to go. Wonder if my DT will get the new stamps like yours. That’s a new kind of texture on stamps companies are using, the digital look I guess. Tfs
I just found your channel. I enjoyed this video. I love to try new things. I have a few different stamps from DT. I personally have not uses them yet. I was wondering if we have to sand them before using..like most stamps. I might try that and see if the details come out a little better.
@VianneyCreates, this was as excellent toturial. I like seeing how you were as I am not willing to simply throw it out and what can be done with this. It all turned out well in that beautiful tag. I watched U live on Crafters Companion and over the pandemic everyone was crazy about you and asking so many questions as we waited on the moderators for CC you were Quite gracious. Again, thank you.
I'm curious how you save acrylic stamps that do that thing where they get stuck to the carrier sheet. I have some older Recollections (I think) sets that I finally peeled up. Only one tore. But I'm afraid they will get stuck again after a while. I bought a few of the new Dollar Tree stamp sets. I haven't used them yet, but I'm worried they will get stuck, too. Is there another type of material you know of that I can swap out the carrier for?
Stamps work best when primed first. Like pancakes, the first one is a test one and never turns out well. The second is better, and the by the third pancake you're good to go. Stamps in manufacturing have a coating. Use the palm of your hand or an eraser to remove it. When it turns cloudy instead of clear, you've removed the coating and then it will stamp better.
I promise you it's not that they aren't "prepped." I've been working with stamps for over 25 years. I know all the tricks, and hardly EVER do I actually have to "prep" them unless the stamps are just super cheap. Acrylic, red rubber, photopolymer...they all have different abilities. The problem here is the design of the floral images...you can even see it on the carriers. They're weird. The sentiments are pretty good, so not a complete waste. I'm super curious why people continue to leave me comments like yours, I assume trying to be helpful...but wording it in a way like I don't know anything about stamps? LOL!! Thanks for your time and comment. (:
@@VianneyCreates Oh Vianney, I apologize if I came across as condescending or absolutely anything other than trying to be helpful. Truly I meant you no insult whatsoever and am very sorry.
Maybe it would work out with a light colored ink? Not sure. I bought a set of stamps from The Dollar Tree that has several birds in the set. I hope they look good. I like the tag!
I don’t think it was because they were dollar tree stamps. They were those multi layer stamps that are supposed to stamp like grayscale. I’ve had them from different places and I have trouble with them no matter where they came from. Love the tag.
Yes, the tag was better….I think the colors were just a bit too pale, but fine for a tag.😊 Even though DT stamps are not the best quality, it’s hard to resist buying them just for kicks, if nothing else. And then they can be donated or let your kids play with them….no great loss.
Hello, just noticed this video for the dollar tree. Very nice tag. Also love the nail color. What brand is it? If possible please provide the link. Thanks
TYSM! I love these polishes that I've been using lately, they are the first thing linked in this haul video's description box: th-cam.com/video/ZWl6gsr2dxw/w-d-xo.html
Right?! I have people telling me that I am not using the stamps correctly, that I need to prep them. It’s the design that’s flawed, the sentiments are OK…but the floral designs are really bad. I mean that’s if you can get them off the carrier!
Not when I worked with them. Stamps not making contact looks different. These are just designed like in an etched or distressed way...and not very well.
NEW SUBSCRIBER i never thought of using felt pens, to put them on a stamp i so #StampingSunday, if interested :) i agree i dont like the flower Dollartree stamps with the first stamp set :(
You can definitely color stamps with water based markers, it usually works really well. The design of these weird stamps was not great with that technique! LOL!! TYSM!
Shocked at where you purchased these because some of them are Stampin’ Up knock-offs. Am editing to add that most of them are, and the reason the stamp you used did not stamp well is because the SU originals are what’s called “distINKtive” and are very difficult to copy properly.
Well, that's not great! I did see on Amazon recently that they have absolute knock-offs of LDRS Creative dies. Surprised me a bit bc Amazon SHOULD be more reputable... Thanks for the info.
I have tried dollar tree stamps. I don't like them at all. Stamps are hard acrylic. They are not good quality stamps. I would not recommend it but the stencils are great to work with.
Those stamps from dollar tree have several sets that Stampin’ Up designers created. I know because I have those sets and used to be a demonstrator. It’s sad that these China made products steal and copy other artists and sell them for Pennies. I guess nothing is sacred. As an crafter and artist it hurts.
Hi, Wendee! I was not aware of that until a person commented on this earlier. I guess these are the last stamps I'll buy there! No wonder they looked more stylish than what the DT usually puts together. Clearly, people can buy whatever they want, where they want...but I don't want to encourage DT to keep doing this. Thanks for the info!
I picked up the set with the pipe and stuff and a set of postage stamps. Same, they don't have a carrier on the back. They aren't the best acrylic stamps. Meh 😕
Hey Vianney I heard DT is changing their name to Dollar Plus or something like that. They are raising their prices again really soon. Not sure if you heard it about it yet. As usual, thanks for the tutorial!❤
I have used markers with even the worst of acrylic stamps, and it generally works. I don’t do this technique often, the only reason I did it with this one is because it had different areas I wanted to color. The stamps themselves aren’t manufactured very well, I have other stamps that are similar style… And of course they work much better…think Local King Rubber Stamp.

Maybe that stamp is trying to make the flower look more dimensional?
