    I like how Link's bird become a giant bird and is used as a loft wing decades later in Skyward sword. Timeline wise, This bird could be descended from loftwings, as LOZ takes place many centuries (and even millennia) after SS

    This was incredible! I would love to see a Zelda 1 hack (or a Zelda Classic game) made with this storyline.
    Firstly it is interesting to think that Nintendo may have borrowed some ideas from it moving forward.
    1. Link with a Slingshot, wouldn't happen until Ocarina of Time.
    2. Mention of the Triforce as a balancing mechanism. Greatly expanded upon in A Link Between Worlds
    3. Gods of Hyrule, in early games people thought it was "Christian". This sort of implies that they always intended Gods.
    4. The stone that Link is given by Impa is akin to the Pirate's Charm in Wind Waker. It even looks similar-ish.
    There may be some other things that Nintendo would eventually use, but for a "non-canon" first entry into the series, that was fantastic.

    • @GTV-Japan
      @GTV-Japan  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yea, there are a few things different and I really wonder how much freedom was given in making the book. As for the pendant, I like to think thats it's the "green dot" on the over world map. The book says in Japanese directly "神々” Which would mean multiple gods. It also happened ages ago in the past, so if it happens on our earth, it would probably be in the BC era anyway.
      The biggest non-canon thing though is that Impa dies, and though, it probably didn't matter then, it abrogates the rest of the series if it were canonical. Of course Ganon's spelling and other small stuff, doesn't matter much here.
      Good points which would make for a great discussion

    • @Vulpas
      @Vulpas 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      People didn't "think" Christianity was originally intended, it was indeed intended in Zelda 1. For one thing, the Book of Magic was called Bible in the original according to Zeldapedia, apparently (they have a whole page dedicated to the subject of Christian themes in the original).
      You also straight up obtain a cross in Zelda 2, the shield in the original had one on it too, and it's on the Bible. It's pretty undeniable. It's not referenced directly by name and clearly is not accurately depicted, but it's there.
      Zelda 3 was the last one to have these themes, they were phasing out. An illustration of Link kneeling before a cross was issued, for example. The sage was called a priest too, and other things.

    Amazing video, i wasnt aware of this particular manga, and i've seen a few based on Zelda 1. I had goosebumps the entire video lol.
    I was one of those who played the masterpiece back when it was released, no sequels, no internet, just the amazing map that came with the game and the hint booklet. I played that game like a madman, putting bombs in every square, burning every tree, searching my brother's english dictionary to translate whatever dialogue appeared on screen...this game is engraved on my brain like fire.
    It was the game that changed me as a person and made whoever i am today, more than 30 years later.

    This is a great manga. As you said, it doesn’t change very much of the story from the game outside of adding characters and some side events. However, two major changes were Impa dying after speaking to Link (she survives in the game’s lore and appears later in Zelda 2) and the old man telling Link about the Triforce pieces instead of Impa.

    • @GTV-Japan

    The ending of this manga is quite similar to the ending of Toei Animation's Saiyuki/Alakazam the Great
    I noticed in both media the scenes of Zelda unconscious and Rinrin/Deedee in bed are similar to the point where they are almost killed off at the ending. Also the last page of this manga looks similar to ending of Alakazam the Great with Son-goku/Alakazam and Deedee/Rinrin marrying. The last page of this manga hints something of a marriage between Link and Zelda based on their positions and also it looks like Link and Zelda will be living happily forever after like most fairytale characters.
    P.S. The antagonist of Alakazam the Great/Saiyuki inspired Bowser from The Mario franchise

    Though the story beats is similar to how Jack Frost went though in Rise of the Guardians. Y'know,heroe emerging,trials,death of a hero,revival of a hero,etc. Etc.
    It's amazing I can imagine that the people gathering around Link,giving him luck,food and gratitude reminds me of those times back in those days when people who played the game would share secrets of the game. That's pretty awesome foresight of this legend.

    I just realized something as I was playing the original game. You play this (plus the other 2D Zeldas) from a bird's-eye view. Link has a parrot on his shoulder in this, but the closest we get to that in the games is Navi in Ocarina of Time.
    Do we play the original game through Watto's perspective as he follows Link around overhead?

    Wow. So much to process there. Thank you for that amazing video.
    So I have to say two things hit me that seemed to correlate with the later run of comics in Nintendo Power. The later comic also had link saving villagers from a fire which always hit me as weird as that was nowhere to be found in Link to the Past. Two, and most important, that bird dude at the end of the comic (I forget hit name) who flies up into Ganons temple, that also hit me as really weird. Is that bird companion a reference to that? It might be a shot in the dark but all these years later I still have no clue where he came from. Kudos~

    • @GTV-Japan
      @GTV-Japan  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow you’re just binging on today! Honestly I have no idea if there’s any correlation but my guess is no. These comics were forgotten as soon as they had their week in print. Different artists and publishers covered different game’s ar different times. I think things like rescue From fire are just ways to make Hyrule look livelier.

    Anyone else notice that the buttons on the NES console in that corny commercial are black? Strange.... Has there ever been known to be an NES console with black power and reset buttons?

    This is cool it's just like your watching a cartoon thanks how about doing the one for zelda 2 the adventure of link and maybe if you can find it the castlevania one too

      +Neo Spiked thanks for finding it and liking it. There is one for Zelda 2. It’s three books, not one. But I plan to do it someday, it will just take three times as long to translate it. I have Megaman comics but not Castlevania. I’ll look for that. Also check out my channel page because I did two other books based on Mario games

    when you said his name, i thought of eddie murphy's grandma character from the nutty professor movie, hercules, hercules, but no, i don't like him in this story and even though i like birds, i don't know if i would want one in this story either
