I love that the characters on the bus actually have distinct personalities. A lesser script would have just brushed over them completely, but if we don't care about these people then we don't care if they get blown up or not. Speed really is a perfect movie for what it is.

Speed is not only a famous drug but also a good movie. Can recommend. The movie I mean.

Point Break is another great Keanu action flick from the 90s.

Personally, I 100% credit this film with Keanu's career as an action star. John Wick did wonders, but Speed really got his foot in the door when it comes to that specific genre of film.

The thing that makes 90’s action untouchable for me is that it was all practical stunts and explosions. Controlled, but practical. It’s why action movies were a true spectacle and action stars actually meant something

This is an exceptional action movie! Has the awesome characters, delivers on the action plot. Straight up, been watching this since I was 4 or 5 years-old, and never gets old.

This was such a sleeper hit in 1994. It was hard to imagine "Ted" from Bill and Ted's Excellent adventure being a leading man-action star. He had done a couple others but never as the lead, but so many people were surprised when Keanu Reeves turned into a leading man over night. One of the most 90's of 90's movies ever! Great reaction and commentary.

I'll never forget seeing this in the theater. Blew my mind. Keanu has reinvented the action genre 3-4 times now

James Caan is the Misery actor. He's great. As I understand it, one of Caan's favorite roles is in the movie Thief (1981) dir. Michael Mann. Thief is an excellent film and Michael Mann's first.

Ah man James, you save my night again. You are my comfort channel, like a friend you watch your favorite movies with and you are, like always, pulling me through some real dark times, just by throwing in these reactions. Small things can really make a HUGE difference, so I thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️

Speed was actually a relatively low budget movie for 1994 in relation to other action movies of this scale. It cost about $30 million to make. It was also the directorial debut of Jan De Bont who had been the Director of Photography of Die Hard among other action films.

To be fair Dennis Hopper is the crazy one in most movies he's in, and he does it soooo well. Including in Blue Velvet. 😁😁

To me, the 90s is peak action. They have enough special effects to do some crazy things, but CGI hasn't advanced to the point where they can just do anything. It's real people doing real stunts. Love 90s action!

Fun fact: the studio realized they probably had a hit on their hands when test audience members would back out of the theater for bathroom breaks, trying to miss as little as possible.

Dennis Hopper was the guy in Blue Velvet, he was also the guy in Apocalypse Now that you watched on the channel. He was Colonel Kurtz right hand man with the camera at the compound. James Caan was in Misery. R.I.P to both men

If you ever feel so inclined, I would recomend old Danny Kaye movies (co-starred alongside Bing Crosby in White Christmas). Even though they are mostly from the fifties and forties, I always enjoyed watching them as a kid and even as an adult.

I just realized that Sandra Bullock is basically never useless in any movie. So that’s pretty cool
