    I think a huge reason for their offensive success is that players are constantly relocating and cutting to the hoop. Last year, that barely happened and our offense quickly became stagnant when we let the defense get set up. Now we're getting a lot of easy buckets through constant movement

  • @maartenvz

    Many people bring up the 2017 warriors, who had a much better net rating (11.7 vs 8). On offense they made 12 3s at 38% per game while Boston is at 16 3s at 39%. The warriors also had more turnovers. The Celtics are 4 points per 100 better compared to the warriors.
    The Showtime Lakers best season was 87 when they had an offensive rating of 115. They shot 51% from the field but off course didn't shoot many 3s and had way more turnovers 16.6 to 13.2. Yes the rules have changed and we are comparing apples and oranges but the Celtics really are playing historically for now.

      You ain’t lying but I’m conflicted between do we start Rob when he comes back and go back to that monsterous defense last year or do we keep DWhite with the starters where he’s excelling better with the starters and our offense has literally 4 playmakers on the floor. Or start GWill who keeps that clinical offense up with how he can space the floor as well as makes our defense one of the top in the league not as destructive as last year but somewhere in between where the offense has 5 starters who could all knock down 3’s while spacing the floor for the Jays to attack. I say for now keep Rob on the bench and since GWill plays better with the bench maybe audition the Dwhite playing with the starters since he’s doing so much better with them and keep that offensive clinic going. I honestly think the best solution may be start dwhite, grant will or Rob will depending on the match up, Ik we want chemistry with the starters but one night we would be a clinic on offense and when we play 2 bigs Rob will and hordford are the big man. And maybe over time we will see the best starting line up, Just don’t bring brodgan in the starting line up

      Robert Williams is a surprisingly good passer so I wouldn’t be surprised if he ended being the initiator of the play and then turns into a screen and roller after the initial progression

    • @SeunAdekoya
      @SeunAdekoya 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Rob unlocks this offense even more as a roller to the basket and his screening. He is also a good passer as a big so it will lead to a lot more open shots. It limits Horford mins so Horford can play better as he ages

      @@namtrof01 it’ll come just how Rob and others came. I believe we’ll find someone through the draft or there will be a big out there that wants to play for us. The more a team wins throughout the years, the more it attracts free agents to a winning culture

    • @nikagogibedashvili6476
      @nikagogibedashvili6476 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SeunAdekoya I like Rob but honestly do not see this offense benefiting by adding him to the bunch. Spacing is crucial part of Celtics offense this year as this breakdown has shown and Williams clearly hurts that.
      Of course, it is coach's job to compensate for the limitations of the player by benefiting from his advantages, but with Rob 5 out offense is simply not possible (which plays out perfectly with Horford), so the offense will need to adjust to that.

  • @jsung19
    @jsung19 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    Part of the reason the Celtics can space so effectively is because how deep this team is with shooters. I would argue they have 9 legitimate 3-point threats, and teams are rightfully adjusting their defensive schemes to match this year. But I've seen way more wide-open lanes this year because teams are so scared of the 3.

    Craziest part about the Celtics this year is they hav been playing without their center. In my opinion Robert Williams is the most underrated player currently in the league. With how great the Cetlics have shot this year the addition to Rob Williams coming back from his injury is going to be unbelievable. He is an elite shot blocker, fantastic rebounder and he's incredibly efficient on offense underneath the hoop. Every year his ppg has gotten higher and I think that's gonna go up even more this season

    What I love about the NBA right now, especially regarding the elite teams is how they create mismatches or even create possessions on offense that set up a weak defense. Wohhhh calm down fellas. Best offense currently and even more impressive bcs it was only a few months ago that we were so impressed with the best DEFENSE in recent memory from the same team. But not best of all time way too soon to say that. Yes you can make an argument statistically but the game has changed as a whole - sped up given extra advantage to the offensive team rules wise. What about the showtime Lakers? what about the Mike D'antoni coached Steve Nash Amare Stoudemire Suns? Whst about the Run TMC Warriors? What about the early 2000's C-Webb led Sacramento teams just loaded with offensive weapons and great chemistry? For that matter what about the Shaq-Kobe Lakers? Dallas had some teams w great fire power- lot of the Western Conference teams in the late 90's early 2000's did. And I haven't even mentioned the most recent close to a dynasty Curry- Klay Warriors teams at their peak. Can you categoricslly say that the current Celtics beat any and all of THOSE offenses? I would say they have the POTENTIAL to be one of the best, and that's super exciting, but jury's still out way too soon to call them best ever

    C'mon now. I wouldn't go that far. Let's NOT forget the 80's Celtics & Lakers, or the 90's Bulls or Pistons. Yes I'm ecstatic about this year's Celtics. I'm now in the 53rd season as a Celtic, & the '22 Celtics couldn't beat the 80"s Celtics. Those are just facts Ppl.

    people really need to stop saying "best offense in nba history". This is wrong and dumb. The highest offensive rating in nba history ≠ the best offense. Just bc recently we've been on a trend of rules/playstyles favoring the offense more and more as time passes, (in such a way that we are going on 4 out of the last 5 years where the team with the best offense has set the record for highest offensive rating ever [and the only exception was the slight regression after the 21 season which was played without crowds]), does not mean that these Celtics have the best offense in nba history. That title still clearly belongs to the 04 Mavs who were nearly 10 points better than league average per 100, comfortably better than the Celtics rn

      Lol everyone seems to lack understanding about the title. Offensive rating per 100 possessions scoring is what the Celtics are doing better than anyone else EVER. They are soctong more points per a controlled number of Possessions than anyone else, ever. It’s simple. That is objectively the best offense ever. Doesn’t mean it’s gonna stay that way. To be honest tho if you watch Boston play it sort of does look like the best offense ever lol.
