The Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02 is very comparable to PS4S and a tad cheaper. They ride better over broken pavement, too.
CS02s and the DSW06 are both amazing tires for the money and just as good as Michelins for substantially less. Usually have a better rebate too.

As Matt suggests, the roads here, around the Catskill Mountains in Upstate NY, are wonderful. But be respectfully warned, there are Troopers and Sheriffs absolutely bloody everywhere. I've never been anywhere with more Cops and Troopers than in NY so take it easy, but come because the fall is always beautiful, but a touring pace is the way to go.

He was also building hybrid gasoline-electric drive tanks during WW2 (Porsche Tiger and Elefant)
Gasoline was a byproduct of making heating and lighting oils. It was sold as a cleaning solvent at most General Stores.

Matt seems to struggle with separating his political life from work. Only now he is facing the financial consequences of this that he is aware of. The agency doesn't need to "go into bat for you" either. They are supposed to be neutral and Matt's perspective is that he has done nothing wrong and its someone else's task to comb his SM history, not him. Its the same with him talking about how a client at WCC on this podcast. No one says to him that he shouldn't. Don't tell me that instead of using a local Dyno to run a smog cycle test, you felt so obstructive that you charge the client your own personal hourly rate to perform this task as a way to put others off doing it. Then go on TH-cam to moan about this client and think that it will have no consequences now or in the future. Matt would you be as forgiving on yourself if it was an employee of WCC, Zach or anyone else talking about it the way you did?
My uneducated guess with losing the ad gig: they probably double-booked (or over booked the talent) expecting someone to bail, and when too few bailed, because of the high earning potential, they realized the cost was too high, and they had to can someone, and they looked for an easy out. It's shitty, but I feel like it's the most likely scenario. Sounds like their mistake. You shouldn't have to eat that loss man. It does sound like bs.

My thought as well. We don't have emissions testing in my State so I'm not familiar with the testing requirements or how to reset factory emissions, but on the surface I can see it working.

Yes you should change. In the same way Matt doesn't smoke weed, drink on the podcast and ditched Twitter. If you do something that affects those people around you negatively then admitting you have made a mistake is hard. Would I have had this business conversation on a podcast? No. I think Zach has a firm example of Matt losing the company business.

Really appreciated the deep dive into the EX-90. As a long time owner of a XC90, we've been waiting for replacement that was potentially BEV. It's disappointing to hear that even after having 8 years to improve on the XC90 which came out in late 2015 as a MY2016 vehicle. Pilot Assist, which we use in traffic and on long highway drives, sounds worse (since the old version allows hands off for about 10-15 seconds). Driveline; the twin-charge, even with the Polestar tune, is a disappointment. I was really hoping that the electric drive would solve that, because it's a great vehicle with a couple small glaring faults that seem easy to fix. Any comments on the window switches?
I appreciate Matt being outspoken. It’s very hard when you are trying to sell a product or service. Ultimately, you have to accept that some people won’t like your opinions and that will cost you some business. Sad but true.
on the subject of the drag coefficient: It's not an absolute, so big cars like the EX90 don't automatically have to have a high value and smaller cars a small value. cd simply expresses the relation between the cars two-dimenional frontal area and the three dimensional surface that the air actually has to deal with when the car is moving. Every car, no matter how big, can have a low cd value if the designers put in the work. If the Tesla Model 3 was 30% larger, the cd value wouldn''t change.
Absolutely, looks don't translate into a good drag coef. The best example are the shark nose BMWs, they look absolutely fire but have a shit cd.

Also that sucks to hear what happened to Matt with the business deal falling apart, I would have been livid. Not one to kick someone when they're down, but I hardly think it was "one" tweet from 2.5 years ago. There's a consistent tone in the now deleted Twitter posts and 5+yrs of podcasting that has grown exponentially vitriolic over the years. Guessing someone on high got wind of who was doing the project, they did 10min of research on the body of work, and that's just the one post they used to justify it. Between that and propping up the Ferrari felon for several years.

Well, don’t forget the part where you park it, never put miles on it, don’t pay for maintenance, register it, insure it, etc.. Because the high selling collectibles are also low mileage never used examples. I’m not going to tell people what they should do with their money, but the idea of owning badass cars and not driving and enjoying them to me is just crazy town.
If you can get press cars and enjoy them for yourself without filming then have a blast. You don't owe your audience free content. Working for nothing is a young person's game to get started. You have paid your dues. Stay in bed a little longer and enjoy extra time with your wife. The crew show is great so I hope you can keep it going, cheers!

Traditionally, Volvo did do pedestrian safety crash testing for those outside the vehicle. And they were safer for pedestrians that the equivalent American/Japanese/Korean equivalent SUVs and crossovers.

Not gonna lie, The Chevy Lumina is a dope AF car for a 1st car. My 1st car was a 93 Lumina and i beat the living hell out of it. I tranny dropped it every day, raced everything i could and did everything wrong to that car and it STILL lived. I dont think there is a car you can buy now that can even come close to how durable the Lumina is. I sold it to buy a Subaru and BOY did i mess up!

GM does collect data, and in fact got in trouble for it. Granted, that was not for mapping purposes, but rather to sell to insurance companies and to market software services.

19:35 The Chevy emissions procedure is crazy. I had to do it once on a 6th gen Camaro ZL1. If I remember correctly it wants you to coast to a stop in addition to everything you mentioned. I had to go up a canyon highway and use the hazards on the shoulder. Also at 5am. It can’t be done anywhere else in a city.
The discussion about the over-reaching safety features on the Volvo reminds me about a lot of the criticism with Chinese cars sold in Australia/New Zealand. They have a lot of safety tech, but it's not very good, especially around driver awareness monitoring. Most of the criticism is around it being over-reaching or getting in the way, and also hard to properly turn off. With these Chinese brands, some of those issues are almost excused because the cars are so much cheaper, or maybe the automakers haven't adjusted their systems for the roads/driving styles for the AU and NZ markets. So it's interesting to hear a premium brand like Volvo would also have those issues. I wonder if those safety systems are Volvo developed our adopted from their Chinese parent company, and carried over from another brand?
In all honesty , don’t get the R rated tyre. I did this some 25 years ago on my 928 S and it totally changed the whole feel of the car. Ruined the driving experience, stick with the S. yes, much more expensive and it’ll wear a lot quicker but the feel. The feel is why you’ve got a car like that, pay the extra.
Heads up on the ECU and emissions reading, (NYS inspector) lots of newer cars, especially higher end brands, need special readers to access the ECU and read for emissions readiness. the state scanners can unlock all ECU's but you'd need something like an $400-$500 autel tablet for your business needs, post 2000's a lot of auto manufactures started locking down their ECU's to force customers to go to dealers and indy shops to pay for subscriptions to the manufacture to read codes from the car. Basic scanners can read the engine controller but only on standard canbus codes, if it uses those standards. As for the drive, during my dealer days in LI we used to take cars down any local state road with a 55 limit, 30 minutes to an hour would clear most cars, give you spaces to hit most of the requirements, especially if you get stuck behind a Subaru doing 45 in a 55 as is tradition. It's near impossible to do them in a city, my condolences on needing to do this in LA.

No I disagree with your suggestion. Matt has made comments both online and on the podcast that have had a measurable detrimental effect on viewing figures of TST. Shrugging and blaming the algorithm has been easy. This example of someone not paying to work with them and giving the reason is a pretty hard example to dodge as the client specifically pinned it on Matt. If I was Zach I would have a discussion with him as this was not Zach's Twitter comment that sank the deal or is losing us business. I would have no sympathy for a right wing person making the same mistake, so why should Matt avoid Newton's 3rd law simply for his political standing?

This is an easy way to get sued in Business deformation. The client has the right to walk away from someone if they feel it will reflect badly on them, they did this privately thru the agency before it happened. The agency has not used a public format, podcast or publication to contact TST. Ok Matt/Zach didn't get paid for the prep. Everyone shook hands and walked away. But they haven't been charged with the costs of the Agency in all of this or the client using the correct channels and Matt making that public. Matt laying blame on the agency for NOT spending time trawling thru his Social media or the podcasts. The agency's legal team will incorporate this cost to pay a legal firm to do just that to show they took a pragmatic decision to pull the plug and not incur costs to themselves or the expensive client. That isn't cheap.

It is not a one way street where people working under the guise of a corporation gets all the benefits and none of the costs. I think Matt doesn’t factor in to his logic about the cars uploading road data is a lot of this stuff can be compressed into much smaller file sizes. Especially if it’s lidar point data instead of a raw video file.

It is not a favor nor a courtesy nor a kindness, it is public goods for the taxpayer, just like all other public goods for the taxpayer, including that four-lane road.

My point is that where there is a parallel facility, cyclists should be obligated to use it instead of the fast and dangerous four lane road. It’s dumb not to use it.

I think car reviewers liking plug in hybrids is like car reviewers liking hatchbacks. Nobody agrees and nobody buys them. If you need an oil change, if you can lose your warranty by not changing the oil. Nobody wants that nonsense.
Most car manufacturers have clauses in their warranty that cover negligent maintenance. If you never change your oil and your engine fails, don’t expect them to honour the warranty. That applies equally to all cars, not just plug in hybrids. Cybertruck owners are having major issues with warranty claims being denied for insane reasons. Plug in Hybrids are flying off the shelves right now, much more so than EV’s
