I joined the church at age 17 was trusting and naive and had a weak family i was perfect for the taking and went to Rick's served a mission 77-79 and swam in the quick sand for 30 years till 2011 then i found the first can of worm's and went to my Bishop his words " i cannot nor will not allow small minded questions to lead me astray now or ever " Mormon leaders , small minded with large pockets . So glad for each day free from that false man made church .

***** then i found out about Elijah Abel , that blew everything i knew in 36 years away. On my church mission 77-79 we where told to buy a short church history book called Story of The Latter -Day Saints , on page 620 it reads " in the early days of the church blacks did not hold the priesthood " Elder Elijah Abel was ordained by Joseph Smith , so from 1975 till Sep 2011 i never knew this . Eiljah is buried in SLC UT , served 3 missions, Brigham Young called him to those missions and would not allow him in the temple . Again i knew none of this . In fact i found out more from Sep 2011 to Sep 2012 that i did From Feb 1975 to Aug 2011 about the church i belonged to . Very sad .So now i just sit back and watch it come apart piece by piece , the church took alot from me , my two sons 21 and 24 are both in ruins from the church . But i have 2 daughters 10-12 who will never set foot in that church again as long as they live with me .

Lew McCorvey Wow. My mom was a Mormon but we never heard a word about and I never gave it any thought. Oddly, I had a high school friend named Smoot (yep) and a Woolsey (yep, and his mom was close friends with my mom, whom I never really saw after age 11.... confusing). Anyhow, after 2006 when I read "The Mountain Meadows Massacre" J Brooks, I took off, buying some 300 books between 2006-2012. But there had been "sputterings" of investigation in the past. In 06 I remembered someone, *(my dad?) speaking of MMM, of Arvard, Danites, the MMM, etc and I, at age 17, went to the library and checked out the MMM by J.B. I recalled that. Then in 1994, in my 40's, I went to the University library and made a copy of MMM by JB. but didn't really read it. In 06 I bought a copy on Ebay, read it.. A big light went off. I wish I had read the MMM back in 1994. I would of seen and investigated Mormonism then. When I was 17 I couldn't appreciate the MMM issue, the political intrigue, low cunning. etc.

And the mormon response to this video seems to be: 'We have always known about Smith's FORTY wives. And we always knew about the 14 year old child that he married. And we say that Smith having those wives is no big deal.'
What about Smith's participation in polyandry? Do you know about that? And is that a big deal?

    • @DavinPerkins
      @DavinPerkins 9 ปีที่แล้ว +16

Look at it from the big picture perspective. Joseph married up to 40 women. at least 10 of whom were married to other men and who continued living with those men after the honeymoons with Brother Joseph. We have evidence that Joseph consummated at least 45% of the marriages. We also know that Joseph often used the same pattern again and again.
      1. Build trust
      2. Reveal the law of polygamy
      3. Tell the woman that they and their family were guaranteed salvation they married him
      4. Tell them that an angel with a sword would kill him if he did not expand the practice
      5. Gave them only 24 hours to make the decision
      6. If they refuse, threaten to slander their names and destroy their reputations.
      7. Follow through on slandering as needed.
      8. Make sure everyone involved knows not to tell Emma.
Additionally, we know that he violated the terms laid out by God in D&C 132 by marrying non virgins (aka widows, married women and even a pregnant one), by hiding the marriages from Emma, by marrying women who were already committed to other men (again... married women) and despite clear evidence of consummation, never had any known offspring with any plural wives. Thus, he did not "raise up seed" which was the purpose of the commandment in the first place.
So. If Warren Jeffs were accused of the exact same things that we now know Joseph did... Would you get baptized into his church? What if Warren Jeffs had lived 200 years ago instead of today? Would you get baptized into his church now?
Why would God create his church with a history so reprehensible that no honest, good person would ever knowingly join?

Shall we put a bad spin on your life too. Anyone who knows you, can make you out to be a monster. Trouble is, all the good fruits that Joseph did, cannot come from a monster. Only the ignorant don't know that.
Build trust. Preach the fulness of the Gospel that includes living celestial plural marriage.
Teach that the Principle of Celestial Plural Marriage is revealed from God and ask those who will consider it, to pray about it, to obtain a personal witness.
Tell all who are ready to receive the principle that without living it, one cannot attain the same glory in Heaven as those who do live it.
Let them know that Satan will try to dissuade anyone who is contemplating abiding in higher principles, so acting as soon as you have a witness that it is right, is the best policy.
If they choose against the principle, remind them that unfaithfulness to what the Spirit may have testified to them to do, could have spiritual consequences.
Teach that the fulness of the Gospel is restored and those who choose to slander the principles of this holy Doctrine of Christ and the servants of God, will be turned over to the buffetings of the dark side.
Counsel those who accept the principle that Emma has resisted this part of the Gospel for now, so it is not Christian to put it in her face.
Also remind everyone that all these private relationships, as perfect or as imperfect as they may be or turn out, or as private as they may remain, or as public as they may get, has absolutely no relevancy to the authenticity and truthfulness of the Restoration and the true fruits of the Prophet Joseph.

MartinDezion There's a saying, you can polish a turd all you want, but it doesn't change what it is underneath.
Nothing changes the fact that threatening a person with damnation to hell for rejecting a highly controversial commandment falls right into the category religious abuse, when a religious leader abuses their authority to force and coerce these good hearted people into following his orders when they questioned polygamy, (which while practiced, was kept secret to the masses initially until they got into the temple), not to mention that Joseph Smith lied and denied practicing it publicly even though he had been experimenting with polygamy several years before with Fanny Alger "god" declared it a commandment.
This strikes me as very odd and hypocritical that if Joseph Smith was the true prophet that i was taught he was, that he would feel the need to practice something that was illegal and looked down upon if he was of good moral character and like the trustable, naive, everyday farmboy he is portrayed as in nearly every single one of the lds movies i've seen. You know, the kind of completely white, perfectly good, faultless, infallible boy who could have never lied to his followers about his true intents.

    • @MartinDezion
      @MartinDezion 9 ปีที่แล้ว

Notyouraveragename God would never consider you to be His mouthpiece because you are too concerned about how man defines what is "legal" and what is not "looked down upon" by man or how mankind defines "moral character". All great prophets challenge mankind's false notions.
No one said Joseph was "perfect". "flawless", "infallible" and no one said anyone is required to tell the truth to every simpleton or critic that asked a snoopy question. A prophet especially is answerable only to God Himself and not you or anyone else. Moses said to not "bear false witness" that does not mean you have to tell everyone everything they want to know. Your false tradition of thinking you can't keep your private information to yourself comes from your gentile upbringing. A prophet can withhold any information he wants to from anyone he wants to and use any excuse he wants to. The only one you are obligated to tell everything you know, about any question, is to your superiors, when they require answers from you that they have a right to know. Everyone has a right to maintain personal reticence about their Faith and theology and moral practices and principles they live, and its' nobodies business.
Calling a farm boy is completely consistent with the pattern of God. David was a shepherd anointed to be a king.
"Damnation" is simply an obstruction to one's eternal progression. If it is true that one cannot progress to becoming like Father in Heaven without living certain principles then so be it. It is not a threat, it is no different that saying you can't have a diploma until you complete the necessary credit hours of schooling.
There is nothing unusual about teaching higher principles to a smaller exclusive percentage of the membership and there is nothing wrong with telling adult members who have child mentalities what they need to hear until they are ready to hear the truth. When they finally learn the truth they can fall apart or they can love truth enough to understand why it was not time of them to be told earlier. If they fall apart, then they are hypocrites for being baptized as committed disciples of our Lord but who refuse to be patient and learn line upon line, here a little and there a little, as the Bible teaches.
All you have brought up so far tends to support the Divine calling of Joseph Smith and shows that he has behaved just like one would expect a great prophet to behave. Jesus lost many followers when He taught certain principles. It is not the fault of our Savior or a Prophet when disciples can't handle what is being taught, or how and when it is taught. A true disciple is trusting and grateful to be taught the truth no matter when or how it is served. Disciples don't tell prophets what to do or how to do it, so long as they are true prophets, which they are so long as they abide in the the Fulness of the Everlasting Gospel Covenants. Joseph was true and faithful to all his covenants and callings.
There is nothing Joseph stood for or nothing about the principles he restored that has any dishonor. But the ignorant are completely capable of spinning anything holy into something dirty and there are always plenty of ignorant critics and accusers who will applaud such foolishness. The complaints you bring up are of typical Pharisaic reasoning and typical of what was used against Christ to get Him crucified.

Very well done. Stand fast against those that call you a "hater" because you're just telling the truth.
It is not an attack on any person to point out the fraudulence of joseph smith and to expose a laughably false prophet.
If those that hear it don't like hearing the truth, they should take a harder look upon whom and what they are staking their eternal salvation.
There is no physical, scientific or objective evidence at all that mormons can show in corroboration of their religion, which to anyone unclouded appears that smith invented to aggrandize himself and do boom-boom with whoever he desired.
Among the many things we're still waiting for:
1 - An ancient copy of the BoM
2 - A manuscript written by one of the (false) BoM prophets
3 - The American indians who are actually of jewish ancestry
4 - The discovery of ANY of the massive cities claimed to exist in what is now the USA
5 - The LDS church to tell us exactly where the BoM took place
6 - Confession that smith's translations of the "book of abraham" and the kinderhook plates is a laughable fraud.
7 - A list of all the artifacts recovered by excavating "the hill cumorah"
The apologist will pick only one thing, and debate it down to the thinnest thread of maybe, and ask everyone to stake their faith on that maybe. e.g. "we just haven't found a manuscript yet..."
But when every one of the tenets and beliefs drawn from this provably false prophet can easily be objectively reduced to that same thread of 'maybe,' is that truly the right place to stake your eternal salvation?

    • @MartinDezion

The big lie is that it presumes it's message to be relevant to the authenticity of the Restoration and the Prophet Joseph. It's not! When one chooses to smear the Work of God by Pharisaic Fallacy of irrelevance and ignore the true fruits and footprints of our Lord and His Prophets, it falls into the same category of Hate which the Pharisees had for Christ. Which is a jealous hate and fear of having one's world undone. The exact opposite of the Love of God and willingness to humbly and prayerfully examine the news of more truth.
Whether the LDS church broadcasts all the sensitive issues or not has nothing to do with the authenticity of the Restoration or the authenticity of the Prophet Joseph. How far out of order the today's LDS church may be, has nothing to do with the original authenticity issue. (All Christian churches are out of order today as Isaiah 28:8 prophesies, except you can find more truth in the LDS than you can in any other well membered churches.) Just because polygamy or poly relationships or polyandry is not understood by the ignorant, has nothing to do with the fact that no moral sin is committed. Playing on the young age issue when young age marriages were common then, only shows that the anti Restorationists are desperate and actually have no real evidence against the truthfulness of the Restoration.
Judging the Restoration by the character of the contemporary church is a reasoning Fallacy of irrelevancy. Judging a prophet by weighing his character or compliance with human understanding is a common Pharisaic Reasoning Fallacy of irrelevancy.
The fact that anti mormons use irrelevant issues to try to disprove true principles and authentic footprints of the God of Abraham in ancient N. American and latter day history, only shows their spiritual bankruptcy and actually helps God defoliate His latter day Work of all the dead wood.
The only possible valid evidence against the Restoration and the Prophet Joseph would be: If the BoM is not true. and If the Prophet made no attempt to do what any prophet, or the Lord Himself, would do if the Gospel was to be restored in the USA at about 1830. If JS did not restore patriarchal marriage that would be evidence against him. If he did not attempt to restore consecrated united order, that would be valid evidence against him. If he didn't teach and do things the world found hard to comprehend, that would be evidence against him. (Jesus was almost abandoned by his own disciples for some of His teachings.) If the BoM did not have any archeology or geology backing it, that would be questionable but not an air tight case. However there is as much such evidence for the BoM per thousand years of history as there is for the Bible.
Let those with vanilla appetites, follow the jealous vanilla pastors who preach everything the ignorant masses want to hear. Who cares?

Your funny! There is still not one person who can show me scripture that says polygamy is of God. I can show you many many scriptures that condemn it as an abomination. Did it happen biblically? Of course, and it always led to heartbreak and ultimate destruction. King Noah just for one. Even the war in Israel goes all the way back to Isaac and Ishmael and the birthright issue. "By their fruits ye shall know them" applies to law as well as men. Joseph was not a polygamist. DC 132 is a perversion of the revelation Joseph received on eternal marriage. Just read the history of 132 and when it became scripture, and what it replaced. Joseph, Hyrum and Emma are innocent of the abomination of polygamy.

@@joelburnham6348 The sacredness of plural marriage can just as easily be found in and interpreted from the Bible as so called denial of that principle. Unless you claim to be a prophet with authority, your interpretation is a waste of time. It all boils down to the truthfulness of the authority of Joseph Smith Jr. and that is verified by the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. The lds church not only has problems as do all man made religions but it also has a man made false theology. So it begs the question, Which church-that is, which denomination of Christianity-is the “true church”? Which church is the one that God loves and cherishes and died for? Which church is His bride? The answer is that no visible church or denomination is the true church, because the bride of Christ is not an institution, but is instead a spiritual entity made up of those who have by grace through faith been brought into a close, intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9). Those people, no matter which building, denomination, or country they happen to be in, constitute the true church.

I've also known about his hat and seer stone for as long as I can remember and have "0" problem with it. I would like to ask you if you really believe that JS used a hat and stone to translate the BOM. Do you really believe that or are you just passing information along?

If Keith knew that you were being lied to by your church, wouldn't it be loving for him to try to get you to see that?
If he wasn't being loving, he would just ignore it and not care.

I suppose...maybe. However, I didn't realize the church lied to me. Will you give me an example of where they said JS never had multiple wives?

Do you also have zero problems with Smith marrying other men's wives and 14 year old girls?

Funny video. Im a member of the Church in the Czech Republic and even to me this is nothing new. If these informations should be antimormon than its kind of misunderstanding of the author of the video. So, just a funny video.

It may be nothing new to you, but many members are having a crisis of faith over it. They feel betrayed because they have been lied to by the one organization they trusted would never lie to them.

EvidenceMinistries Dont think so. This information was all over the internet for all the years and very free in the Church as well.

Nathaniel Filip Guess it depends where you are. I just had a LDS man in Spain write me this morning that his Stake President was convinced the news story was completely false. He wouldn't believe the info was true until this guy printed out the LDS dot org essays (which had to be translated into Spanish because the LDS church has yet to do it). To say he was shaken up was an understatement.

Nathaniel Filip Interesting. Can you show me any documentation of acknoweldment of this in any LDS doctrine or teaching manuals prior to a year ago?
The problem the church started having as of late, is that people are learning this on their own, so the church is trying to get out in front of it so that they can talk about how open and honest they are and not appear as the organization that is systematically hiding information.
Why wasn't this taught in my 4 years of seminary or 4 years of institute classes? Why didn't they teach me about this when I served my 2 year mission? Why am I finding out about this stuff after being a member for 30 years? Every member should know this stuff and not just fringe members who broke the rules and read stuff they weren't supposed to.

      Very well stated.
