What a fine example of true trombone tone with excellent control and intonation. What amazing focus and concentration too. I will be sharing this with my pupils.
Thanks for the very nice compliments Andy. I hope your students will enjoy!
When you mention intonation, the slide position of his first note (I'd have to look it up, don't know it off-hand) is NOT the same when he initially attacks it as when he approaches it later from below, when he takes it higher. As a former trumpet play and now retired bass trombonist, you hear a lot of different things. Trumpet players are used to lipping into desired intonation - you play an f-sharp differently in game, that you do in A-major - while playing with air/aperture for the desired tonal colours. On trombone I always heard to pull to the intonation and the tone colour follows. And that made my teacher crazy watching me pull "differently" yet get good tonal colour and intensity, obviously left over from my trumpet days. Anyway, i don't know if Mr. Kant was pulling differently intentionally due to line-leading tendencies or if he was "adjusting" on the fly. It would almost be sacreligious to suggest it was "carelessness".
I know it’s an imperfection due to different instruments delay time for sound production, but DAMN there’s something so satisfying about the trombones coming in just a millisecond after the percussion
underrated comment
if we come late, its an error, its not due the instrument. Lack of articulation.
Very solid interpretation. Your low A's are so good dude.
More like jeffrey kan
Lmao
Yes sir.
Nice
Mahler 2 has always been my favorite but his 3rd symphony….man. And this solo. I’ve always loved it. And you performed it as good as it’s ever been. Bravo.
This is amazing quality, I'm a bass trombonist due to not being able to control my absurd amount of air flow, I'm 15 and love the trombone been playing since I was about 10 and I'm hoping one day I'll have this amount of control
Superb Playing (George Lucas on Bass Trombone :-) 2:18 )

Hi Jakob, I'm playing a Courtois
@@JeffreyKant Do you have the model number? :)
Courtois Legend 420 with a Red Brass bell and a Hagmann valve

Wow
How do you approach this for timing in the first section?
かなり径の大きいマウスピースを使っているように見える
