The fact that every single Ape Titan there is at least 250ft-300ft gives a real idea on just how MASSIVE everything there is. That "little rock" that the ape who was push knocked aside, would be the size of a whole building.
That’s what I don’t like about it. I’m not saying a kaiju has to be placed next to human infrastructure, but the hollow earth is just “giant nature”. It kind of undermines how even within nature these beasts would look like massive entities
I was initially skeptical of Skar King, but the moment at the 1:30 mark convinced me otherwise. Despite not being as formidable as King Ghidorah or Mechagodzilla, Skar King's unique personality won me over.
I agree. I really enjoyed the way Skar King clearly took pleasure in what he did, like that little smirk he flashes to Kong just before kicking Suko's caretaker into the lava. That self-awareness made him feel just a little bit more real.
Skar King was SUCH a great villain monster! Malicious, a little unhinged, egotistical, tyrannical, a slave driver, megalomaniacal (which is really saying something for a Titan!), and so many things that we classify as "evil"! I mean, he was about to hurt and possibly kill Suko, when another ape intervened. But Skar still wanted SOMEONE to pay for bringing Kong, an outsider, so he killed Suko's friend, provoking Kong's rage.
Such a great villain. He doesn't need to be powerful or strong to be such a threat. His cruelty and brain are what make him a villain that Godzilla, Kong and Mothra can fight only together.
What makes him even more terrifying is that he’s prety much a decrepite old man. The dude started the war between his species and the Gojiras as well as the ice age. Just imagne what he was capable off back when he was build like Kong.
@@florians9949 And the guy is probably the most relatable villain cause he evokes everything bad about us humans and our weaknesses. He's a dictator and like all dictators, they're powerful because they have armies, weapons and are cunning but once their empire falls or they no longer have followers, they are nothing but a single individual who can be beaten easily by possible brute force alone. It's the same strength and weakness humans as a whole have. Take away all our technology and most animal species beat us in fights.
@@florians9949 Exactly, the guy is also possibly the most relatable villain to us humans since he embodies all the strengths and weaknesses of humans. Strong with armies, weapons and intelligence But weak in terms of physical strength and durability and take away his armies and weapons, the guy isn't much. Same logic applies to any human, a human can hunt and end a grizzly bear with weapons But put that same human (with no weapons) against a grizzly in a fair 1v1. We all know what will happen.
I do love how they introduce him, since it shows that he's a ruler with an iron fist and is a serious threat to reckon with how evil he is. Plus I did like how they remind us of like with Peter Jackson's King Kong, that non-human primates can laugh too.
No joke that roar at 00:26 was not only loud but I felt it reverberate throughout my body and gave me literal chills when I saw this in theaters for the first time. One of the best monster introductions of all times in the monsterverse
Well, they are apes, and Kong was giving Skar the benefit of the doubt. Once he started laughing (which by the way is the most brutish evil laugh ever) he established himself as a villain.
I love that Kong is finally getting his own villains to keep, but I also would love to see a return of Robo-Kong from King Kong Escapes. It be cool to see those two reunited
Menacing would be putting it lightly. It’s like the Devil himself is here in ape form. When you think about it, they’re in Hell, or the MonsterVerse’s version of it.
@@sakumon16 I honstly its like a biblical reference as well. Notice how Godzilla threw Skar King to "Hell"? Like a painting of St Michale the Archangle defeat satan that locked away to hell. Or maybe God banish Lucifer to the deeps of hell.

SK: Very well... I hope you understand what your prescence ignites... (Kick him to lava) Zuko: No, please no. Nooooo... Kong: I defy you... Sk: Challenge accepted.
I think the cool touch was that the Skar King had throne guards. And when he made his entrance he was walking behind them before they made their split and kicked the smaller ape to the side. My favorite part there.
Can someone explain to me how a 2 and a half minute long clip with no dialogue has better characterization and emotion than the entire 1 hour and 58 minutes of The Lion King remake?!
I think having a genuinely passionate director helps with that. From what I've seen and heard, Adam Wingard genuinely loves working on these movies and wants to make something that people will have fun with. He's not just in it for the money.
Kongs journey in this movie with Suko is handled so well. Not a single line of dialogue is spoken but you know everything that’s being said through gestures and grunts and roars. Hats off to wingard, can’t wait for gxk 3!
Hopefully it's more Godzilla focused this time. I'm sure a similar treatment could potentially work, he may be a reptile but that doesn't mean he can't emote 😂
You can see how peaceful was Kong in this movie he even lets SK disrespect him at first if that means no more fight, he had the hope to just be one more of his kind until he saw the true intentions of SK
What was really funny is when Scar made his intro and all the other apes fell down in fear….Kong was looking around like…. Da Fuc@ wrong with y’all! I’m about to square up with that Bitc@!!
1:56 Fun fact! You can see Kong about to grab his axe! He's being very cautious of what Scar King can do! I really love details like this in movies! It shows you the RAW emotion through these characters, and they delivered! Good work to the GxK team who made this movie happen!
I love how despite obviously being nowhere near Kong in terms of raw strength, he's by NO means a weak or incompetent opponent. His highly acrobatic fighting style and sheer cunning allow him to face Kong on a fairly even level and the skill he has with his whip is nothing to scoff at. Honestly If Godzilla hadn't supercharged himself prior I genuinely believe SK could given him a decent fight before ultimately getting atomized.
Kong just got one hit in and I honestly think eventually skar king could have won but would have been badly injured so that's probably why he used shimo
Without a doubt the best entrance of a titan I've ever seen in the monstroverse, I remember getting to the cinema's bathroom in time and being able to see this tremendously beautiful scene, almost falling while going up the stairs lol
I love how in this movie for the first time ever, the scene with the Monsters interacting and fighting each other, there is no human involved and most importantly and the best part, NO DIALOGUE!!! Just their grunts, roars, snarls and facial expression to let the scene tell a story. This great and fresh take that I wish more movies involve monsters or dinosaurs have more scenes like this.
This scene... this scene right here... This is how you give a kaiju character. In just 5 minutes (I'm also referencing the fight after this and the sequences before), we get everything that we need to know about Skar King, who he is, and why we should fear him. And I love it so much
I had seen people complaining that Skar King isn't strong enough compared to Ghidorah or Mechagodzilla, but it's not comparable. The Skar King is very old (probably several centuries or even millennia) and therefore physically diminished and he is not a mecha or a three-headed space dragon. Plus, he spent all this time lounging around on his throne like a true dictator while his slaves did all the work for him and relying on his control crystal over Shimo to instill fear and stay in power. Skar King does not need to be physically strong to prove that he is a good villain, on the contrary he is perfect like that: an old titan thirsty for power and revenge, who delights in the suffering of others, intelligent and even vicious, but blinded by this need for power and control which will ultimately cause his downfall. In his youth, Skar King was surely a real monster in terms of strength and I even think he could have killed Kong face to face.
Other than his roles as a sadistic tyrant that makes him an interesting villain, he's pretty cunning with his tactics compare to other titans who relies on strength and sheer force.
@@JRA6192 Indeed, Ghidorah shows a more animal side in the way he acts, it's true. Another difference between him and Skar is the way they impose their dominance. Ghidorah is super powerful and uses his strength and abilities to overcome the other titans, while the Skar King is more strategic and uses other titans (like Shimo) as living weapons to do the dirty work for him to keep its dominant position.
I highly doubt a younger Skar vs Prime Kong would be close. Kong is literally built like beast in comparison. Skar is like an Assassin build in moba game terms, and Kong is the unbalanced Tank. Skar doesn't stand a chance without Shimo. He literally loses the moment Kong grabs him.
Skar King really is the exact opposite of Kong. Kong being younger muscular stronger compassionate and understanding is the exact opposite of what Skar is. He is scraggly, old, experienced but cruel, evil and hungry for power. This is the end of Kong's story and Skar was the perfect villain to end it off. Also he easily has the most personality out of any antagonist. The scene where he laughs at Kong is hilarious but shows how dastardly he is
I like the detail of him getting really close and starting to laugh at Kong, even though Kong knocked out one of his guards with a single blow, and even killed Suko's adoptive father in cold blood just to get Kong to fight him, that shows that he is not the fraud that people say he is.

0:32-1:01 Now that's what I call presentation. Shining eyes, in the dark, coming out of the shadow, fierce looking, and with some henchmen of his own. Forget King Ghidorah, Scar King is officially the greatest villain in the history of Hollow Earth. Jumping out, landing with a rumble, and everybody turns frail when he's on the stage. Such a fierce and remarkable antagonist.
@@CelebrooSkar is still cool. He’s not physically strong like Ghidorah but he’s got cunning and personality (I mean technically so does Ghidorah, but even then, Skar is still great at just how irredeemably evil he is)
A movie with no dialogues between monsters yet we all could understand... they basically built a universal lenguage that every country can understand without needing words. What a feat
Skar is such a great villian alongside King Ghidorah! Skar is emotive and expressive by his body language and roars and grunts as hes the kinda ape u dont wanna screw with as hes confirmed to be thousands of years old and has probably fought alot of past kaijus bigger then he is. Seriously when hes on screen u feel his impact as hes ruthless and rules like a tyrant and will not hesitate to kill anyone trying to oppose him in his kingdom. I wanna know who played him in his motion capture as that man deserves an award! And Kong here sees this red ape as a bully and a true psychopath. He sees the others around him bow down in fear and not respect but for thier lives. Kong is the opposite of Skar for sure as he shows compassion for others and respect as he helped that one ape up after the other whipped him ferociously. This proves to me that Adam Wingard understands these monsters and thier personalities.
Skar King being a cruel dictator is fascinating because I have read somewhere that occassionally chimpanzee can be observed doing this too in real life and Skar King is giant red chimpanzee
Bro I remember going into the theater and seeing what a menace Skar King was Had a cool entrance, decided to clown on King Kong, immediately demand for the smoke, and kick that other kong into lava because he felt like it
I love how this scene displays non-verbal communication, but visual storytelling and body language add depth to the lair of character development GxK gives us. From the moment you see Skar looking into Kong's mouth and notice he had his tooth removed and start laughing at him, it's implying that Kong is less than an animal because of the artificial tooth he was given by the humans and through fear the rest of the apes join in knowing if they don't humanize their ruler, except for his followers which they're allowed.
I like how they established just how evil and petty Skar is, first the fear the Apes have of him when he comes out. Then him laughing at Kong over his tooth and pointing at him while having the other Apes laugh too, which they clearly only do out of fear. Then the fact he tried to hurt Suko just cause he wasn’t being enthusiast laughing. And if look closely he looks at Kong right before killing the other Ape clearly seeing Kong was getting angry, meaning he killed the other Ape just to make Kong mad. Just a few minutes and without dialogue but established great character.
I'll say this: Skar king is the best Monsterverse villain so far. His entrance was cold. Everything that was said about him in the scene before this was conveyed without a single line of dialog. I actually feel sympathy for him despite him being this cruel and actually evil. I guess it's because he's the only one with a sense of humor (sry Kevin). Always this sadistic and malicious laughing and smiling and we can forget about 1:29. The whole theater started laughing, too. He might not be as powerful as Muto Prime or MechaG, but he sure as hell made his screen time memorable. I hope he becomes Kongs "Ghidorah." His arch rival in following continuities once the Monsterverse is over. Ghidorah is still one of (because there's 2 others that share that spot with him) the best Godzilla villains period.
He’s even more evil than Ghidorah. Ghidorah wanted to destroy the world. Skar wants to take over and enslave the world. I’ve always considered slavery worse than murder.
@@simplgaming8495 that's not what they were saying. They were saying across continuities, like Ghidorah. Future Kong movies not related to the monsterverse.

This is how you give a kaiju character. In just 5 minutes (I'm also referencing the fight after this and the sequences before), we get everything that we need to know about Skar King, who he is, and why we should fear him. And I love it so much
You can instantly tell he's an asshole.
1:05 the music 🥶
The Skar King ruled with fear. Kong shall rule with respect.
0:30 My personal favorite scene in the entire movie. Skar kings entrance was so cool combined with his theme. The fight too. Sick
The subtle movement of Kong going to get his axe once the old ape tried to defend Suko. Little details people.
Hell Skar doesn’t even have to be super old to justify anything.
@@eidaxielfalse , the first fight said otherwise, and I'm sure 1v1 Skar King would put up a good fight

The scene where he laughs at Kong is hilarious but shows how dastardly he is
Same goes with Godzilla and shimo. They are polar opposites of each other (semi literally, but also in terms of their personalities)
I like the detail of him getting really close and starting to laugh at Kong, even though Kong knocked out one of his guards with a single blow, and even killed Suko's adoptive father in cold blood just to get Kong to fight him, that shows that he is not the fraud that people say he is.

I love that Kong is not intimidated by Skar king or other ape there. Kong is the one who's really in charge of the great apes

In the end, he died frozen into pieces
Bro I remember going into the theater and seeing what a menace Skar King was
Had a cool entrance, decided to clown on King Kong, immediately demand for the smoke, and kick that other kong into lava because he felt like it
I love how this scene displays non-verbal communication, but visual storytelling and body language add depth to the lair of character development GxK gives us.
