As someone who walks into stickybombs: There is something so irresistible and creamy about a nice, neat pile of stickies that forces me to tread upon them. It is one of nature's great mysteries
Demos income in the early 70s ($5mil/year) adjusted for inflation comes out to around $40mil a year today. Demo probably buys houses just to blow them up
2:00 So.... that guy did learn that there were sticky's there. but instead of avoiding them, he was just like "well, I HAVE to walk over them, so I'm gonna need a sip of BONK to do it."
That moment really encapsulated my love for the game. You got to see the player fold his brain as he came up with a solution and immediately put it into action, perhaps a little overzealous though.
I love how fatmagic grows more and more concerned for the enemy team throughout the video until he just sort of snaps and gives in to the evil of placing stickies in the open
Was just about to comment this! When ever I see seemingly unattended stickies my brain just gets the idea that walking over them will lead me to victory
*CAN YOU USE YOUR EYES* Here comes a medic and- ooh, looks like he walked over those. Theres a Heavy and- come on, you gotta see those. Here comes a scout, looks like another blind guy to me-! _scout shoots stickies_
This video is exactly like watching spy frag videos, when they get the kills nobody even twitches when they hear their medic die but as soon as I play spy they have eyes glued to their asscheeks and when I try this gimmick it’s going to be an instant degrading of my will to live
I do a modified version of this where I set up quickie bomb stickies in a doorway on 2fort and demolish all who walk through, though it only really works when they're pushing into your base.
Ever since I watched fatmagic play demoman and watch the people just walk over the stickies like they aren't there I have become aware of stickies now and I am terrified every time I walk out of a corridor. Thank you so much fatmagic
Professional TF2ologist here, because of how scarcely the Scottish Resistance is used, its stickies do not register inside the TF2 player's brain. This short circuiting of the mind renders all stickies nearly invisible. In the rare cases wherein the player notices the stickies, the matrix gets overridden due to a memetic effect the Scottish Resistance has, resetting the TF2 player's memory to the point in time wherein they have not noticed the stickies.
they just look so appealing. They draw me in like a fish being drawn to the hook in the water. An action that will cause our death, yet, it's an irresistible pull.
fat, you're not thinking correctly, they gotta keep going over stickies to eventually learn why they "suddenly" die after seeing some dots on the ground and a demo crouching sorry, i meant thinkint right
I think the real reason the Scottish Resistance is so effective in this regard, is because most people associate the Scottish Resistance as the 'weak' stickybomb launcher. It does less damage, so more bombs are needed to kill you, but in addition; it needs to be manually detonated when the Demo can see it; so the mantra of "he may not be looking, I'mma just sneak past' comes into mind. Leading to a lot of players who just completely ignore Scottish Resistance Stickies. This mindset just seems to be forwarded, by the fact that you can't spam the Scottish Resistance. I never see players act this way towards normal or Quickiebombs unless they are new. But the Scottish Resistance is just completely ignored by players from what I've seen. It's actually a strength of the weapon imo.
It looks like the angry-critting, monitor-pushing, dirty shirt gaming, place where you live knower, large doctoring, non-aimbot cheating, winecellar living obese illusionist has returned with a new video
I can confirm that that's a legit meta. People just can't look at the ground all the time. It's like hiding in a place so obvious that it won't be checked.
This is actually how you use this weapon effectively though. You chuck a bunch of bombs at someone's face, then you pause to wait for the arming time. They get really confused why they didn't get instantly damaged by sticky spam which usually causes them to act irrationally, and then they blow up. The scottish resistance is a seriously powerful area denial weapon, and its why I use it far more often on defense than the stock sticky launcher.
7:20 this keeps getting funnier i stg 99% of the kills on my bomb launcher are people just walking straight on them. it's so frickin funny ur vids KILL me this comment was made before "dude... im going to take a dump on livestream" i actually went PPPFFFTTTTTTT with my water

I am generally weary of sticky bombs, but not the Scottish Resistance since I am not used to SR Demos watching their stickies from a place where they can see their stickies but I can't see them.
i feel like this game went through a phase where stickies weren't very effective because people were so careful about them vs now where most people forgot they exist and simply choose to walk into them
I know this is random but thank you for uploading more TF2 content, I enjoy watching you as I learn even starting with this game. Greetings from Spain. :)
i'm going to think with logic... i think they walk over them. 1) because it's too late to press other key, so they go with W with all the passion , 2)they are focus on other things so, even if you put the trap in front of them, they are busy with other things. 3) they are blind , 4) they don't care 5) maybe they have the game on low res so they can't see the stickies very well. and 6) well.. i don't know
There's something about the Scottish Resistance that make them invisible to the enemy team for some reason. And when you shoot the stickies at them they run away, it's like you're doing psychological damage to them lol
This is one of the reasons my strange Scottish Resistance is currently sat at Server-Clearing lmfao, normal sticky traps work too but for some reason the stickies only seem to actively exist in people's minds when you're firing directly at them - if the stickies stop moving they just turn invisible or something. Like I've gotten kills before just by firing stickies at someone actively attacking me, making them back up with the grenade launcher, and they just go straight over them like the stickies stopped existing the moment they missed There's probably a whole psychological study you could do on it lmao
As a fellow gamer im genuinely happy that more people know that people will straight up *ignore* stickies in an obvious spot. The sloppier the better. When the occasional player rubs two braincells together and shoots the stickies, I like to replace them as they try to gun them down. I've had scouts in 2fort sewers watch me do that and straight up just go back, and its half the reason i love demo as much as i do. tldr dont underestimate obvious stickies, each one is good area denial just by itself
Watching this video made me question why do i even bother thinking about sticky placement, like a good sneaky spot, pretty bussy spot when I can't be a real state agent and sell land like magic here. I need some time to think
"There's no way anyone with the Scottish Resistance would actually be WATCHING this trap! Hell, even if they're in the middle of laying it surely the arm time is so long I can just walk over them!"
