Hey Joe! This video was mainly intended to demonstrate the use of pool noodles as padding between the kayaks and the vehicle roof. But for you I will tell what how I strap them down! I open the car doors and hook a cam strap to the oh $n!+ handles. (My car has 4) then I close the doors. For longer trips I also run lines from the ends of the kayak to the front and rear of the vehicle. Some people tie a loop of string to the hood latch and close the hood. This gives a place ti connect the tie downs. The same can be done with the rear/trunk hatch. I hope this helps!
Are pool noodles durable enough because at the end it looks like your pool noodle was cracking from the hole before you even transported your kayak?
2 years later and still waiting to see how to tie them down.

I can’t find the video that shows how to secure the kayaks to the vehicle.
They make 2 inch thick tri folding exercise mats that would work even better.
Hmm ideas…
Just guessing... the 2nd video was never made.
So you show how to tie a pool noodle to the top of a car but don't show the important bit of actually fixing the kayaks on.
Thanks for watching! This video is about an alternative to expensive car roof racks. I should make a follow up about tying them down. Thank you!
