I like it the Teflon pipe tape may or may not work I use white RTV just a bead at the bottom of the threads so it gets in the threads and seals. The pipe you used was ABS a styrene it is ok for glueing the joints I like to use epoxy two part, I rough the joint with sand paper apply the glue and twist it together. CA glue will also work to but you need to allow these to gas of for a few day after glueing. The ABS pipe glues better with a glue call weld-on it's a mix of MEK and acetone it will flow along any joint by capillary action I have used these a to but weld this plastic. What ever glue you use you need to get melt the plastic in to a liquid state an the dry so the plastic becomes hard again.

Ruff up the surfaces to be glued with a piece of sandpaper you will get a better bond....just saying...
