    The biggest issue i have with the 20X9 date is that we do not have enough dates to place it in the future. I went looking thru the OG game manuals of Metroid 1, 2, 3, 4, and the canon manga, and all the info we are given is as followed: the Galactic Federation was established in the Cosmic Year 2000. Samus' fisrt mission aka Zero Mission takes place in Cosmic Year 20X5.
    Other than that, everything else is rumors and hearsay that didn't even come from Nintendo themselves. However, Prime games, thanks to logs, i believe have dates somewhere (I'll have to replay them to be sure) but we can be certain this takes place some time after Federation Force and probably still before Metroid 2 as the GF had a real Metroid egg, and it wasn't "the baby" as we know what happened to that Metroid egg. However, we also know the GF saved DNA from that last egg and made perfect clones thx to Fusion. Who is to say they didn't have multiple labs with that Metroid data, right? We all seem to forget the corruption within the GF and how they have kept many secret projects. We definitely need more data

  • @eddieram435

    Don't forget it was Sylux as one of the hunters who unleashed the Gorea dimensional creature in order to fight it himself. He most likely learned some secrets from the extinct Alimbic aliens as far as time/dimensional travel goes.

    There are several things I will point out about the possibility of Prime 4 taking place after Dread.
    1. Samus has a different, purple gunship after Fusion, and the gunship in Beyond's trailer is the same one in Corruption
    2. They would have to address Samus' Metroid powers
    3. The Space Pirates are very few and far between after Fusion (although I still believe that they are still out there, rebuilding)
    There's my two cents.

      Personally, I think the Corruption gunship could work in a post-Dread game. After all, the only gunships we know for sure that have been destroyed were the Zero Mission Starship and the iconic Metroid II gunship. As for the other ships Samus has aside from her current Starship (the Hunter-Class Gunship from Metroid Prime and the Corruption Gunship), we don't know what happened to them. It's likely, however, that Samus simply has a personal shipyard that she uses to store one or more of her ships when she's not using them.

    I believe that Prime 4 will involve time travel, but it also is before Metroid 2 and Super Metroid. From what we've seen so far, the story cues point towards Prime 4 taking place after Prime 3 and Federation Force, but it doesn't make sense to me that it would take place after Super Metroid. So the only thing that does make sense to me is that NES Metroid and the Prime games happen in one decade, and all the 2D games from Metroid 2 onward are in another decade.
    I do believe that time travel could be a gameplay and story mechanic in Prime 4, but we can only speculate how time travel will be used. My bet is on an Ocarina of Time type mechanic. Maybe you get a visor that can see into the past or the future.

    • @auravaury
      @auravaury 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Metroid 2, 3, Other M and 4 could've happened in the same week tbh. Those events happened directly after each other instantly or after a couple of hours or minutes.
      If we take into account the time required for the secret scene being 2 hours, that could as well translate in story, arguably they didn't happen in more than a day otherwise Samus would've received support from the Federation considering the implications of her failure.

    • @auravaury
      @auravaury 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also we do know the Federation sends support to Samus if she takes too long, that's what Federation Force is. Though it's extremely complicated but it does happen if she's missing in action.

      Her suit was not fused to her, in fact in some of the ending slides of Fusion we see her without it. However the suit's appearance was permanently altered from Fusion going forward into the timeline. The title Fusion simply refers to baby Metroid's DNA being "fused" with Samus, nothing more.

    Considering how Nintendo has been treating their franchises lately, I think this will be more of a retcon/separation of the timelines, Prime will be one and Classic Metroid will be another, this would allow Nintendo to play around with the franchise way more since it wont be tied as always to be just before Metroid 2.
    Since I was little I always thought Metroid Prime took place after Fusion, I thought that after those events Samus went somewhere else and like Zero Mission she got a new suit to replace her old one she lost in Fusion, but this suit was way bulkier with more power and even defense, (in Fusion you're super weak) the technology in Prime seems far more advanced than in Classic, I mean theres literally an upgrade that tops and makes an entire suit useless the Gravity Booster literally does what the gravity suit but with an extra float underwater, either its far more advance or the luminoth are waaaay smarter than the chozo. But no, it turns out that all prime games are before metroid 2 and I was like "thats so weird and dumb" of course its just innovation in gameplay feeling like better tech but still, the potential to make much more games with a split would be awesome.

    • @auravaury
      @auravaury 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Tech level may be an inconsistency, but let's take this into account:
      1. Militar technology is way more advanced than public technology since that tech is often tested before it can be used by the public.
      2. Sending stuff from planet to planet is hella difficult, the international space station has like 80's monitors and PC's because it's not easy to update due to the cost of sending new technologies. Same would apply from planet to planet.
      3. The Luminoth were not even known by the Federation, Aether is way too far away, that's why they had to ask a bounty hunter to check rather than sending a cruiser.
      4. Most of Chozo technology is still unknown, let alone Luminoth nor any other races. It's hard to implement technology you don't even comprehend. And Samus has the advantage of knowing Chozo and having a Chozo translator.

    A third option is that they are retconning the timeline placement of super metroid, to place it after 20X7. I am a bit worried that if time travel is involved, it will open a can of worms that there is no going back from. I want the series to move forward and have consistant new, creative ideas. But time travel could allow for things to never be put to rest. Some story lines have conclusions, and consistantly saying "but actually this happened" to bring back dead antagonists (the metroids, the X parasites, Ridley, Phazon) should be used sparingly. Time travel if handleled poorly would allow for any of these to exist forever. Raven Beak could be contacted in a split off timeline and then go back in time before Samus killed the metroids, then take over the universe.

      Yeah that's another one of my concerns about the game if the rumors about it utilizing time travel being true. I still have my copy of Other M for canonical purpose, though I can definitely say that despite all of its potentials, it deserves to be at bottom of "Best Metroid" list next to Federation Force. You're better off watching a playthrough instead.

    Somewhat mixed feelings on the idea on time travel. On one hand, it can be a good environmental gimmick seeing how the locations change from one time period to another, I loved comparing environmental changes in time traveling games like Chrono Trigger or Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword also had this on a smaller scale (one of the dungeons, the seafaring ship, was based heavily on time travel, switching between when the ship was in its prime in the past to its dusty, dilapidated modern state).
    On the other hand, time travel can be one of the *messiest* plot points you could try to put in your story. The amount of paradoxes you can have if you're not thinking things through can be laughable.

    • @-ak-634
      @-ak-634 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe Retro Studio can pull it off, they did very good job with handling different gameplay and plot aspects in Metroid Prime Trilogy. True this would be a different sort of development team than the one that made the Trilogy, though they did pulled in insane talents across the board so I have faith that time travel aspect would be as sound as it can be within the logic of gameplay and narrative.

    20X5 was stated multiple times, even being mentioned in Samus Returns as the time the space pirates took the first metroid sample from the federation prior to zero mission.
    But super being in 20X7 is purely conjecture. It was stated in a Japanese commercial in 1994. I'd hardly call that evidence that MP4 takes place after Super, as that could easily be retconned.

    A tiny correction: it wasn't a Dev that said that they wanted to do time travel in the future. It was the Prime series producer, Kensuke Tanabe, whose returned to make this game.
    Also, i don't buy the idea of the game taking place after Super Metroid. For one, her ship is identical to the one seen in Prime 3 and Federation Force. In second, why would sylux wait so much time to clone the metroids he stole, and then forge an alliance with the space pirates, after they where basically exterminated? I do think they're retconning when Super takes place, otherwise, it wouldn't make sense.

      I mean in the intro of Super, Samus says the last Metroid is in captivity. Arguably she knew of the egg the Federation captured, so she wouldn't have said that the baby was the last Metroid (?).

      Personally, I’m not under the impression that she CAN use her Metroid powers at any time. Remember, when she transformed completely into a Metroid, the only thing that brought her back to normal was an X parasite. Presumably the X parasite was all destroyed when ZDR exploded, so unless they find an excuse to bring the X back, then Samus shouldn’t be able to use her Metroid form on a whim, because that would mean she’s stuck in that form.

    Why would Samus timetravel just a few years *facepalm*. Talk about wasting potential. There is no rule all Metroid Prime games must happen between Metroid 1 and 2. If timetravel is in the game, she will travel a lot more in years. Like into prehistorics (as seen in the final imagery) and far future.
    Also, wtf. Time travel of Samus is Sylux's plan? How about a more reasonable scenario. Sylux does something in present with immense consequences. Timetravel is the only way to UNDO it.
    And finally, you manage to touch everything else on the HUD except the elephant in the room. Why is the missile Launcher situated on d-pad right? I'm not talking about the amount of missiles, but the LAUNCHER itself. In previous entries that place was for a visor.
    I hope this predicts a unified control scheme that works even better than the near perfect one from Prime Remastered.
    And... uh, Finally x2. Sylux will be the main antagonist for sure because they have been building him for a long time.
    All in all, your analysis sucked. No bad feelings.

    I don't think this is after dread, like fusion her suit changes permanently after the events of Dread. Dread hints that a restoration attempt happened in between games, but the Dread suit was the best possible outcome, she couldn't go back to her default Chozo suit from the previous games.

    • @auravaury
      @auravaury 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I do think however it could be after Other M, the Varia suit is seemingly identical (assuming the prime and other M suits are the same in different styles). Which could mean she'd be chasing after the remnants of the space pirates and the Federation Metroid program, which would make sense why they're so desperate on the offensive against a research facility.
