Bit of advice from a 4 year owner here. I bought the Tarraco Xcellence lux back in 2019 when it was brand new and i paid £29k with another 2k of discount on that for the 2.0 tdi model. Compare that to todays prices to see how you are being ripped off. First of all the car is reliable nice to drive, reasonably economical on fuel for its size and very comfortable from the drivers and passengers perspective with loads of room and convinent storge and good padding, but if like me you have the leather interior be warned it feels too black on the inside particularly in the second and third rows and makes the cabin feel a bit clostrophopic in darker winter months and obviously the leather is cold, heated seats do little to mitogate this sin e they take ages to kick in. The middle seat on the mIddle row is a bit small for adults especially if you have child seats in the back and its also too firm to sit on for more than 10 minutes at a time without you bum going numb and I'm a slim short guy and its uncomfortable even for me, the other seats are fine with plenty of leg room but again the cabin is too dark with nothing to break up the black. The rear row of seats is adequate for kids and small adults can squeeze in but it isnt particuarly comfortable for adults on long journeys and you wont get any suitcases in the boot with both seats up. Its fine for luggage if only one seat is up and the other folded flat as that gives you room for a case/pram or both. A roof box is a good solution and negates any issue with storage, the footwells in the middle row and front passenger seat are also very roomy and can accomodate hold all bags or small cases with ease. In terms of driving experience the car feels smoother and more refined than the 1.4tsi Ateca we had previously, much better gear box than the ateca, however you do notice the length of the car around town and you'll find yourself missing the days you could throw around a supermini. The wheels on the excellence model are enormous and my wife finds it impossible to not curb them at every opportunity, the tryes do not shield them at all so this is an issue most people will have, as they ate very low profile, fortunately despite their size the ride is very soft, but the tires are very epensive to replace costing aroind £120 each to replace. If you dont have 7 people to cart around then get something smaller as the size does take a lot of the fun out of driving after a while. In terms of looks the car doesnt look as good in reality qs the carfeully chosen angles of reviews and publicity shots or even showroom lighting suggest, out on the street in anything other than fr trim it looks like an oversized 2000's ford modeo with an awkward rear, the side profile is probably its best angle, the fr does look tider and some colours look better than others but, I do find myself wandering why I paid so much money for a car that is awakward in size, looks a bit boring and old man'y is a pain to wash and is cold, dark and drab inside. Its okay, and theres worse seven seaters out there for sure, but maybe a cheaper seven seater that lets more light in for your family members isnt covered in all black upholstry and has a bit more boot space with all seats up is a better way to go, because trust me the exterior looks or badge snobbery dont outweigh any of those things when you've got a family to haul around and its not worth the post covid double up in price over its original rrp.

Have the same car, lovely car to drive, feels like driving a standard saloon car, handles well for the size and white looks awesome. My 13 year olds sit in the back and are fine does the job.

been the proud owner of this car since 3 years now, I just love it! - It has all the things you'd need, feels great to drive and its safety ratings are the best. I owned tiguan for a year before I got this, they are almost the same but Tiguan is comfier but it lacked the value for money. This car is a full package and gives you a good feeling about where all your money has gone in.

I like it. More Tiguan than Kodiak to my eyes though, which is no bad thing.

Friends, you do not buy a bus. 3 rows of seats are for children for most SUV models. I bought this car between Kodiaq and Tiguan, the safety scores are higher than both. I am very pleased with the driving pleasure, close to the safety of Xc90 and Q7

The MPVs have better aerodynamics from SUVs....

If you're after a proper 7 seater then look away, these SUV's will never have the comfort of a Galaxy or Alhambra. People buy these purely for trend and looks but not for practicality.

Can the Tarraco fit three child seats in the second row?

It depends on which child seats being used.

Two new design 'features'. Real life owner.
Discovered the car uses .5L oil every 600 miles in the first 3500 miles. i thought this was a joke until the mechanic pointed me to page 351 in the manual. Really? How is that eco friendly? and the latest design 'feature' is you can't actually lift the front wipers up when they are in the normal stop position. Genius.
The headline for Tarraco should be 'The car that excels at absolutely nothing' If you want a car that struggles to obtain average, then this car is for you

Not as big as a discovery? Who’d have thought? Winter tyres better in the snow? This review is really basic. Sorry.

  • @adamwillis9872

Sadly, the Tarraco is one of the most disappointingly average cars I have ever purchased.
    Things that are OK:
    - Engine (Until it needed Oil at 3500 miles)
    - DSG Gearbox
    - The Colour - Black
    - The wheels - 20" on the Xcellence LUX
    Annoying things
    - Seats: 'Leather' has the comfort and quality of a 1975 Morris Marina
    - Seats: Only driver side is electric
    - Seats: Not comfortable for long drives
    - Lighting: You need to use your camera to see in the boot and rear set of seats in the dark. One small light in the boot isn't enough
    - Lighting: Don't need 'Hola' shining on the floor when you unlock the car (add more lights to the boot)
    - Dials: You can't see how many miles you have actually done in the car if you have Auto Cruise Control enabled. You need this if you are on a miles per year contract.
    - Dials: Street sign recognition on UK isn't enabled. It is in the system, but not enabled
    - Sunblind: Designed for left handed drivers. Trust me, try and pull it down with your right hand, it can be done, but the recess is on the left side.
    - Blind spot or overtaking recognition: There isn't one despite this being the 'top of the range' with all the cameras you can shake a big stick at.
    - Third row seats: Small, but you there isn't a button to drop them down on the 22 and later model. It used to be there, but was removed for some reason. (Save cost again)
If the car was 20% cheaper, a lot of the niggles could be excused, but this is a £40K (TDI model) so it needs to compete with the other £40K cars.

I hope you enjoy average because the car is average. The trouble is, when you spend a lot of money on average, it's hard to admit you made the wrong choice. As for it's all rubbish, check when you've got you're car.
