How awesome, my boss is actually the one that bought this and sent my mom to get it. We love it, thank you so much. Great memory to have of my boss who passed away.

This tractor is a very early model MF-10, in far better shape than most unrestored originals of any age! (Between us, my Dad and I have three newer MF-10s.) The LME carburetor was made by Walbro, and this was very commonly used on the cast iron Tecumseh HH100 engines all MF-10s were powered by. These early models never had the Solid State Ignition though; they came with the standard point ignition you found and fixed. Tecumseh Solid State Ignitions are of the capacitor discharge type, which don't have breaker points or condensers. Also, to the best of my knowledge, Tecumseh changed the HH series engines to Solid State Ignition systems while simultaneously switching from external, belt & pulley generator-starters to integral alternators and Bendix (gear) drive starters. I mention this because (I think) we can anticipate what kind of ignition an MF-10 (or Tecumseh HH100) has as soon as we see or hear what kind of starter it has. Thanks for sharing this with us! :)

Don Rankin, do you know a lot about these early model MF10's? The reason I'm asking is because I have one that, as far as I can tell, is a 1967 model Hydrostatic transmission model, with the very same engine seen on this tractor. Ok, my problem is this..I can't find the place to put in the transmission fluid! Under the seat over the axle is a vented filler hole, but that seems to only be for the axle fluid, standard 90wt gear oil. In the past, I've taken the vent tube out and squeaked a little bit of oil in that way, but I can never tell just how much fluid that I really have in the transmission. I sure would like to know where this day-gum filler hole is. And does it have a dip stick to let me know the fluid levels?
Thank you in advance for your help in this matter!

@@standonit2003 ..From my collection of sales literature, I think you must have an MF-12 Hydra-Speed, which I know is built on the same chassis using most of the same 'tin' and an externally identical (but bigger bore, higher horsepower) 12hp Tecumseh HH120, with a clutch pedal to idler-engaged belt driving a hydraulic pump mated to a Peerless 2400 reduction & differential transaxle. There should be a stamped HH120 engine tag on the front of the blower housing. I've never owned one of these, but I gather (and am thus not sure) the pump used Type A transmission fluid, and depending on the year, the fluid level was checked with a dipstick on the front left side of the hydro unit, or maintained by a reservoir in the toolbox under the seat. There was also free-wheel valve on the upper left side of the hydro unit (in case the tractor conks out and needs to be pushed.) As for the MF-12's transaxle, it may have a capped filler pipe under the seat as an MF-10 has (but I wouldn't pour anything into it without knowing for sure where it's gonna go,) and there's a fill level plug on the rear of the transaxle. Fill it with the spec'd. gear oil (SAE 90?) until oil comes out of that hole then put the plug back in. But I'm relying on MF-10 similarities and MF-12 bull session knowledge I picked up at tractor shows. See if you can find a model and serial number tag on the left side of the dashboard pedestal, and (an) appropriate manual(s) on eBay or something. Short of that, there's always "Google." Sorry I can't offer much that's very reliable.

I have one of these, 1966 model. Not currently running. Needs rebuild i think, smokes really bad and fouls plug instantly. I got it from a buddy of mine. It's not shiney... but not tore up either. Came with mowing deck, plow, snowthrower, and owners manuals! NOT parting with any of it, lol. Plan is to have engine done, and use it! Like these old tractors, better than new.

Where did you find the information for the points? As far as replacement and gapping? Also the replacement carb? I just picked one of these up that doesn’t run and I’m guessing the points are the problem. Also how much did you sell it for after you were done?

I just guessed about the points. Also kinda guessed for the carb too. I believe I got 500 for it

Did the guy ever come get the tractor? I have a mower deck for that model tractor that I don't need. If you know of anyone who wants it.
