If you like a fun song and an orignal as well please check out "Sing" by these guys, you won't be disapointed 🥰. By the way Mitch (and Kirstin) changes looks very often, in here he was indeed in his mullet-Mitch phase 😅
One of my favorite originals!! Matt is the new face you see. Avi left in 2017 and now has an incredible solo career. Matt has been with PTX since then.
The transparency level is fine - no need to adjust it. The sheet is symbolic of Mitch "hiding" who he really is, then finding the confidence to be his true self. "Prayers for This World", "Making Christmas" "Dreams" are suggestions - I'm sure you have a long list by now!. Matt, the "new" guy is a trained acapella vocalist who also plays drums. He's a fantastic addition to the group.
STAMPEDE!!! Love it. I see you’ve already been told about Matt. Ironically he’s been with them as long as Avi was. But he will probably always be “the new guy” 😂 Loving your reactions. See you on the next one. 👋🏼🤗💋
Most of Pentatonix's original songs are written by one or more group members with at least one outside pop songwriter / producer. Then the entire group and their "sixth member", Ben Bram put the arrangement together. This is by Kirsten, Scott and Kevin, with six other songwriters.
To get a good introduction to Matt (The 'new' bass guy), check out 'You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch', Matt takes the lead in that song and he is amazing! A few more fun songs is 'Sing', 'Come Along', 'Making Christmas' from Nightmare before Christmas, and 'My Favorite Things' from Sound of Music!
Listen to the song again, and listen to the words. It starts out with Scott asking for permission to go out and have fun without someone else. It could be an end to a relationship, or it could be after the death of a loved one. But he not only ask for permission, he ask if it's illegal, to move on. The song progresses through the emotions until they sing that they are going to go have fun even if it is illegal.
This is a 10 years together album. All the songs are about standing up for and by yourself and loving your self. Kirsten had just broken her engagement and Mitch was getting bashed by haters. I think his sheet symbolizes hiding and then saying screw you, I'm me.
This is on Pentatonix's 2021 originals album, "The Lucky Ones" but they released it as a single in August of 2020 and the positive energy helped get me through the worst of the pandemic. I think I listened to it at least once a day for several weeks.
Besides the catchy melody, I really love the lyrics and general theme of this song. The "you" they refer to can be a person, but it could also be all those things in our life that hold us back and keep us from our happiness. We all have issues like that, needing to separate ourselves from the values or expectations of others... maybe our parents, or friends, or even ourselves... that no longer fit who we are. I think it's significant in the video that Mitch is the last to emerge, appearing finally from under the cover into his colourful, happy self. Of all the group, Mitch's journey has probably been the longest and most painful. Bullied as a child because of his voice, and being a natural introvert, he's had a lot to overcome to learn how to be happy in his own skin. The joy he shares in the video really warms my heart. I believe we're each born with everything we need to have a fulfilled life, however hard we may need to work to find it. Great reaction, as always! 🥰
Great reaction! Yes it was Mitch under the sheet and this was his mullett phase! Matt (Sallee) has been their bass since 2017 so six years (as long as Avi was their bass). He is very different to Avi but just as good. He doesn't have as low a bass, but he has a much wider range and can go very high too. Their originals are all incredible and soooo under-rated. They are all bangers! If you do a reaction to their Popspring concert you can hear three of their originals as well as their Michael Jackson evolution medley live. My favourite original is Love again - it's an early one and has an awesome Steampunk/alien vibe video. In terms of Halloween - you need to react to 'Making Christmas' - which is from the Halloween/Christmas film Nighmare before Christmas. It's a very fun one. Another original banger is 'Sing' which features many of their fans from around the world as well as some of their celebrity fans! Keep reacting - I'm enjoying your PTX reactions.
Mitch's hair and look go through so many transformations in the course of their career (Kirstie's too). As everyone has said, the "new guy" is Matt. He replaced Avi in late 2017. Avi now has a solo career that I think you would enjoy. I recommend Avi Kaplan "First Place I Go" as one with quite a bit of country to the sound. For PTX, I'd love to see you react to "Aha", the music video, as it is mildly creepy and fits in with respecting the pumpkin. BTW, we are used to that level of transparency, but you might be able to get away with slightly less transparent.
I really love their originals. Especially the last album, the lucky ones. It shows a truly more grown-up side of them. I feel. There are not videos for all of what's on this album but Petals and Anchor are two of my favorites. Another favorite I have is their cover of Havana by Camila cabello. It's amazing and shows how cohesive they become with Matt. Another song that Matt and Kevin shine in is New Rules x Are you that Somebody. I feel you can really begin to see their maturity and progress as artists come through. Loving the reactions for both PTX and Home Free. Another video you may enjoy is there performance at the national college football championships singing the national anthem.
Don't worry too much about altering the video; the real fans are used to it. Just do what you have to do. I thought this amount of transparency was fine. It might help to reduce the size of the video. Though it's my understanding that it's really hard to monetize videos from the more popular groups. If you put some support links in your comments I'm sure the fans would be willing to help out. Also, Pentatonix only does official videos for a fraction of their songs and there are plenty of excellent songs that have audio, fan-made lyric videos, YuleLog videos (for the Christmas songs) and live TV and concert videos, most of which will not trigger the blocking.
This song is about how we deal with the end of a romance. I love their use of light and color to show the healing that occurs over time after the loss of a relationship.
And the chrysalis effect they used with the subdued, veil covered Mitch for the first half of the song and the the happy, gorgeous multi-coloured Mitch for the second half. These guys are brilliant with their use of sets, colours, effects, imagery, make-up and clothing to set the mood for their songs.
Thank you for reacting to this Pentatonix original song and video for it. Matt has been bass for Pentatonix since late 2017. He's not really new anymore. You did see him in the "90s Dance Medley" video when you reacted to it about a month ago. I hope that you will react to more Pentatonix videos since late 2017. Suggestions: "Amazing Grace" and for Halloween, "Making Christmas" from the movie, Nightmare before Christmas.
Their originals are all fire! Matt Sallee has been the bass since 2017/2018. Mullet Mitch is my fave!!! You need to listen to Love Again, Coffee in Bed and Be My Eyes for 3 amazing originals. Come Along and Making Christmas are 2 more GREAT and fun songs that showcase Mitch’s mullet as well as the 🤯talents of this group.
Hi bud, another great reaction video. One of their covers which would be good for Halloween is Aha! - a cover of an Imogen Heap song. really enjoying your channel.😀
Scott alone in the dark, Mitch hiding from the world, Kirsten crushed and being swallowed by the gloom that’s represented by the rain, confused and sad about your relationships, the feelings of persecution and fear, and then the choice to get up, and get moving forward again, facing the hurt, the pain and the attacks of unworthiness pressing down on us by the world. The life choices and decision to be happy again, to not let the darkness control us. Never forget that good times come and go, and bad times come and go. No matter the fear, the pain, the sadness …this too shall pass. I always remember the statement by the three lepers sitting outside the gates of Jerusalem. Trapped between the army of the enemy and the city’s refusal to let them In under penalty of death, the lepers said, “Why sit we here until die?” They got up walked out to the camp of the invading army and found they had all left. Sometimes what we think is the end for us is discovered to be a false and empty threat. But we will never see that if we refuse to get up and choose to live.
The new face is Matt Sallee (pronounced Suh-lee', emphasis on the second syllable), who replaced Avi after Avi's resignation for personal reasons in 2017. Matt is another lyric bass. It's hard to be sure just what Matt's range is, because it's still growing. To find his current range I recommend listening to a live stream of "Hallelujah" from their recent world tour. You can find a recording with Matt here: th-cam.com/video/ASYzLoi810k/w-d-xo.html Matt's arrangement of the second verse seems to be designed to show off his full range, and it will blow you away. I don't believe he's at the basso profundo level yet, though I expect him to reach it within a year or two. On the high end he's very close to the top of a normal tenor range.
i have never seen a reactor yet not be smiling by the halfway mark, such a feel good song, even for a break up type song. It's that moving on stage. Matt Sallee took over the bass for Avi Kaplan when Avi had to leave in 2017. Ya Mitch was doing the caterpillar to butterfly thing lol. Great original by PTX. Great story about Matt; at their tryouts for new bass they had a couple of songs that they needed to hear, Matt shoed up had those memorized plus all the songs they were going to do on their tour plus most of their released songs....he got the job.
You want to respect the pumpkin? Okay, then. The two Pentatonix songs that are PERFECT for Halloween are the official video of "Aha!" and the official video of "My Favorite Things." Oh, and be sure to watch "Aha!" all the way to the outro; there's a final scene that's easy to miss.
If you like Kevin, you’ve got to check out his stuff. Kevin Olusola, he calls him self KO. He’s a great musician. Check out “Down” and “Kevin’s 5Th”. Really great stuff!!
If you'd like good songs I can't wait for you to start reacting to their Christmas music. Oh come All ye faithful will blow your socks. Hang on and enjoy the ride. Still Loving those reactions keep them coming
@@twiztidwhiskeyreactions358 Making Christmas is a great bridge between Halloween and Christmas.. comes from the movie Nightmare Before Christmas., my daughter’s favorite! as others have said, Aha and My Favorite Things..heh
You did great getting the video through! You might enjoy watching Coffee In Bed. Kevin is a beast in it. The making of Evergreen will also give you great insight into their creative process. Will be watching for more! 🩷
Hey new year channel but I'm really enjoying the reactions so far. So the new guy as you say is matt salle. He joined the group in 2017 when Avi left, For personal reasons mental health reasons and just to do his own thing. I would love to see your reaction to their 2016 pop spring performance. It's a live performance 4 songs 3 of them are originals and then 1 is the Michael Jackson evolution. Link below.
Now as you have found out their record company is stupid when it comes to copyright issues. But most reactors I have heard from (about 25-30 or so) have found they worry more about the video, so if you will make the video more transparent, or blacked out and place some text over it (your name, Pentatonix, “covered with text for copyright”, a logo just anything, and then pause now and then to talk, it will help to keep from getting blocked. With their label and YT nothing is guaranteed, but from what the other reactors have said, this things create an 80%-90% improvement, at least you meet all the written rules, unless the reviewer is having a bad day.
