I unsubscribed all unnecessary YT channels, only kept educational and inspirational channels. I remember being suffering from Panic Attacks during my PhD, due to intense depression and anxiety. In 2020, I decided to just leave the PhD and moved back home. I spent the entire COVID pandemic going through therapy. Even after 5 years of therapy, I can only confidently say that I can handle about 70 % situations that life throws at me. Depression and Anxiety (and any other mental health disorders) are as terrible as any physical ailment, but not generally take seriously as such. Sure, my problem was much more fundamental (partly due to genetics and partly due to the environment I grew up in) which was exacerbated by the pressures put on me by my parents and peers, which is a story all too common in India.
    But, I am lucky to find good therapists through my therapy, which led to an almost amazing improvement in my mental health. One of the worst things I noticed is that it is really difficult to make friends in this day and age. Perhaps, this is limited to me, but it is unlikely. There is also a loneliness epidemic going on in this age of social media (how ironic indeed).

    This is much needed information. I was overambitious about my career therefore I went abroad for masters. I put consistently long working hours for months, without taking needed breaks because I was very passionate about what I was doing. I thought nothing would happen, and thought in this age we can handle it and we should work hard in this age- I thought like that. But because of this overwork I started to suffer from insomnia, anxiety, pessimistic feelings and constant urge to quit the masters. I ,my friends nobody was able to recognise what was happening with me. They thought I had gone mad. I lost control of my mind and lost all enthusiasm for the work and started to procrastinate. Ultimately I couldn't handle it and dropped out of the masters and came back to India. Lost lakhs of money. I had actually experienced what is known as burnout.

    This is a very important subject. I had a brain stroke in 2022 while working in my lab. Doctors did so many tests but could not find any particular biological reasons for that. Due to my PhD and various other reasons, I was anxious and stressed. Doctors finally concluded that it may be due to stress. Fortunately, no major damage happened because of God's grace and my age (31 years). Now, there is so much pressure on a person due to various reasons, such as career, family planning, and many other reasons. It is very important to manage your stress and anxiety these days.

    Absolutely commendable job by Akash and the Deshbhakt team. Mental Health especially in India is such an ignored and undervalued problem, that we don't realise the toll that it is taking silently on our generation and will on the upcoming generations as well.
    I currently work as a Product Manager at a Mental Health Tech Start Up, and I speak to users everyday. And let me tell you the reality and severity is far more and worse than it seems on the ground level. It's inspiring that people are slowly but surely starting to speak about it and seeking help. Also companies like us are on a mission to bridge that gap using technology as well as AI.
    If anyone is going through any problem with their mental health, please remember it's absolutely OKAY TO NOT FEEL OKAY!! There is help out there.

    The most important thing that one requires, for a good mental health is Love(Affection + Emotional Support) & Care.
    An healthy adult is capable enough of taking care of himself/herself.
    But when one doesn't get Emotional Support or is rather made fun of (on an everyday basis) that too by those very loved ones.... Not only he/she stops taking care of himself/herself.. but instead indulges in self harming activities & in activities that might harm others as well.... develops trust issues & even psychologists can't help in such cases because there are no medical advancements as of now that can rewire one's brain to make it forget the past traumas.
    The reason being, the fight & flight response becomes activated & overtakes the prefrontal brain(logical brain).. & thus it impacts one's daily life terribly.

    I am glad that more people are talking about mental health now. I have been to therapy myself for 2 years. I just want to clear here that we go to a psychologist for therapy and a psychiatrist for medicines. As you said in the video to go to a psychiatrist, there is nothing wrong in going to a psychiatrist but the treatment is incomplete without a psychologist.

    • @nishantpatel2344
      @nishantpatel2344 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Both psychiatrists and psychologists play valuable roles in mental health. Psychiatrists specialize in diagnosing and treating mental health conditions, often involving medications. Psychologists focus on therapy and counseling. It's a collaborative effort, and the right approach depends on individual needs. Seeking guidance from both professionals can contribute to comprehensive mental well-being

    8:08 I remember an episode of Doraemon on anger management. There, Nobita (initially) and Suneo were constantly using a gadget called the "Chill Out Stick" on Gian. Everytime it was used, Gian's anger cooled down. After Suneo used it a lot on Gian, his anger eventually erupted like a volcano, which is actually an innocent but effective way of showing what r*pression of anger can do.
    10:18 I don't agree that ADHD is induced, rather it's something which is depends upon genetics and NOT on smartphone usage. "The exact cause of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is not fully understood, although a combination of factors is thought to be responsible."
    btw I'm not a regular viewer of this channel but came here after seeing the title
