I have to correct you, this isn’t rock, this is heavy metal. Hard rock is based on blues music, especially electric English blues. Metal music is based on classical music! Rock is mainstream music, metal is and never will be mainstream. Compared to rock, metal is usually heavier, specifically in the extreme subgenres of death and black metal. Moreover, while rock music often features an electric guitar with cleaner and softer tones , metal usually has pulsating, double bass, and distorted guitars. Metal follows natural minor (Aeolian mode), Dorian mode and harmonic minor tonalities. Hard Rock is mostly focused around major/minor blues with pentatonic, blues as the (mostly) focal points. This leads to chord progressions mostly involving I, IV, V, and mixolydian mode substitutions. However, this is a highly oversimplification of the theory but a nutshell synopsis nonetheless.🤘
