Love your content !! Keep it up I’m so happy to see another Aussie making fish keeping videos as I’m Aussie too and we seem to be rare on TH-cam in the aquarium hobby 😂 my future project is a salt water tank with a canister as I use the same canisters and have for years as you have there ☺️
helloo dear, i wanna ask something, how to manage micro bubble from the output pipe? to much micro bubble every 10 second in my canister filter .. please replay, regards from indonesia .. thanks ..
Hello.. im following you now....i have cannister filters on my marine tank..and my discus set up...and run basically same as you...works fine....great vids keep going.....
Hello! Great video! Have you ever consider using a pre filter, such like sunsun603A? I’m going to test it in order to keep canister only with media. Greetings from Brazil.
And yet again another wonderful educational video. On the new video request, can you make a video explaining how do you do it so your smile can sparkle everytime you are next to your saltwater aquarium ;) and congrats on the accent, always looking forward to hear you say water :)
I also have the same canister filter for my saltwater tank, and the most effective use for all the mechanical filters would be, to place them all at the bottom basket, cuz how the canister works,is the water comes from the bottom going up, so, yeah, just my two cents tho
you can also put some of your ceramic rings at the bottom of your canister before you put the first basket, for some circulation before the water hit the mechanical filter, that can also prevent ditritus building up on one place
@@SimpleAquariumsLauren yeah, saw your video on cheato. Don't think that is enough for such a big sized tank, I wonder if a cheato sump or tank would work..as I've been thinking about this. Cannister filter for filtration, then to a cheato tank for nitrate and phosphates reduction plus the pod production, and then back to the tank.
Your channel has been so helpful so far! I currently have an established freshwater with a fluval fx6....I know the rock I put in the tank will be the main area for beneficial bacteria but can I keep the established media I have in my FX6 or will I need to get all new? I don't fancy drilling a hole in my tank for a sump so I'm doing lots of research lol, thanks for the videos by the way!
Okay so once a week filter floss changes and then every two weeks you rinse out the sponges? Cool shot of the fish eating the seaweed at the end, they love it!
Yeah they love their seaweed! I went in to more detail in my maintenance video, but I alternate cleaning one filter a week (proper clean out and new filter floss) if that makes sense. So new filter floss each week is being replaced into at least one filter. Sorry I think I made that a bit confusing. 😊😊
@@SimpleAquariumsLauren I know you are addicted to saltwater now, lol, can you give us a hint of what your next fish might be? I have been searching for a 180 acrylic for a saltwater tank even though I really want a 240 acrylic but the price has to be right on a used acrylic tank, so I can get a small shark, maybe a Bamboo Shark. They need a minimum of 180 degree tank and they are considered expert as far as care goes but as long as you are doing everything right it isn't rocket science!
Looks good, i whant to, setup reef tank , i have UV sterilizer, 3 canister filters 1 x FX6, 2 x Fluval G. My tank 575 l , MITRAS LX7 x 2. Do i need skimer small one or macro algae refugium ?:)
Oh awesome!! I got a small surface skimmer which does the trick (I made a video on it if you want to see how it’s helped, the Ehim Skim 350 video) and I’m also growing macro algae in my display tank, so there are ways around it. But I’ve seen many people have amazing reef tanks with no skimmer also. 😊😊 hope this helps!
Ive tried your way converting freshwater tank setup to saltwater and it has been running since the 15th jan without a protien skimmer so far so good. I only use corse filter sponges, filter floss, bio media from previous freshwater tank(well establish) and active carbon. As for now I tried to keep low on lifestock only has a pair of clownfish in it. Water parameter such as ph, nh3/nh4, no2,no3 and dkh look ok for now.
you dont need the ceramics inside the filter because the compete with the rock but all the others you just can built a sump without a skimmer because is easier to clean
You should take a look @pondguru , he does a series called pimp my canister, and he is able to tell you how to make your canister filter work at maximum efficiency. Technically your filter is set up incorrectly, not trying to bash you, i just want to help you learn soemthing that i didnt know until i saw @pondgurus videos.

You should add some rowaphos, I added it in my canister filter and it definitely helped with lower phosphate levels

Do you run your filters in line or separately
Great vid as always. In my opinion haven't you got it back to front? Shouldn't the water pass through the sponge, then the floss, last the media?
Thank you! 😊😊 and yeah I did have it the wrong way around. 😅
This is interesting. I wonder what your parameters are for the marine tank. Nitrates and phosphates low?
They are usually more elevated like 10 -25 but since adding cheato and a surface skimmer that’s been helping 😊

@@rudra7615 yeah that’s a good idea! 😊 Plenty of people have success using a canister filter which is awesome 😊
What brand is ur cannister filters
One is a sun sun canister filter and the other one is an Aqua one canister 😊
Did you change the water in the filter with a saltwater, tab, or ro/di water?
Sorry I forgot to say! It’s saltwater from the tank 😊
No worries.. Thanks for the video.. Keep up the good work.. Love from Perth.
Thank you 😊😊

Just use the canister for mechanical and chemical filtration
i run freshwater but have the exact same filters as you both running on it! one sunsun and one aqua 1.
Oh awesome! 👏 great filters
I haven’t cleaned my fluval 406 for over 2 years now
what type of canisters are you using?
One is a dynamic power canister filter and the other one is an Aqua one 😊😊

Sponge should be at the bottom followed by the filter floss and on top should be all the bio media.
Love from India ! Y don't you build a Low tech Planted Tank and upload a video please ! Thanks in advance.!!

LOL! I had to google "once a fortnight."

Why don’t you at least clean the bottom filter foam on the last tray or replace it you put it back it looks filthy
I’ve used a canister on my reef for 6 years now and not had a single problem... but experts say it’s not possible lol
