    I would have liked to have heard some discussion about his room treatments.
    When someone goes to that level of effort, it probably means that he is more than a casual audiophile.
    Lots of your subscribers would probably benefit from room treatments, and do not realize it. If your interviews would include a portion of time discussing the sound improvement, and the cost, and what is involved in undertaking the effort, it might inspire others to consider adding panels, etc, and end up hearing significant improvement in their listening room.

    steve best interview yet thanks . I had the pleasure of meeting pedro today and a even greater pleasure of hearing his amazing system. It was without the pass amp and the newer quads he had the older rebuilt quad and the rogue tube amp running. all i can say is it was amazing, the sound wrapped around you with a incredible wide soundstage i was shocked . what was even more incredible is how hospitable and humble he is, a true gentleman and a lover of music and sound .

    Great interview - pushed all the buttons for this old-school audiophile.
    Mr. Diaz did not brag - but to make a living playing a fearsomely difficult double reed woodwind is fearsomely impressive accomplishment.
    I'll speculate that he has a second LaScala in hiding.
    And a request/suggestion:
    How cool would it be to conduct another interview regarding his recording projects??

    What is missing, for me, is when you interview guests with multiple amps/turntables is more information. As an example when you go through his amps I want to know what does he use with the Rouge or when does he use the Rouge vs the other amps. If I wanted to just know model numbers of amps and turntables I would go to Wikipedia.

    The Nakamichi is for recording double 45s. There is over 400 on Acoustic Sounds website. The peak of analog unless you go reel to reel which gets really expensive.

      That's a nice Nak supposedly one of the nicest bass reproduction. Anyway vinyl is quite labor intensive I record everything from vinyl to the Nak ZX-9 that was recently Willy Hermanized. I find recordings sound better than source most of the time. Cassettes are coming back for a reason, because I am all in. Just got a sweet Nak 550 what a unit.

    I own some early acoustically recorded 78s which are played on acoustic phonograph. Recorded without electricity played back without. In between phonographs now sold some gear, (mistake) and now looking for another record player. I relate to to Pedro's love of mono, about the physical presence of the music from this technology. What it lacks in some areas is outweighed by the amazing presence of these old acoustic recordings.

    I am still a fan for the double pair of the KLH-9’s driven by OTL tube electronics and the Berning TF-10 preamp as it was the only setup capable of reproducing the classical double bass without sounding like a ball park Hammond organ playing the seventh inning stretch. One of my favorite test material was the Ditterdorf double bass concerto that I referred to as my “Eine Kleiner Klipsch Killer Musik!”

    How unusual for a real musician to be an audiophile. I worked with many musicians as recording engineer and none owned so much as a stereo system. My clients were listening on iMac computers most instances.

    • @gustavos366
      @gustavos366 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's the reasing why we have a lot of bad-sounding recordings, totally compressed, etc, etc....if musicians were audiophiles or at least cared a little bit about the sound of their own records, we would have much more records with better sound. But the only time 90% of the musicians listened to their own records is thru NS 10 or KRKs...go figure.

    Unlike many of us, this guy DOES music as well as listens to it. He knows what voices and instruments are supposed to sound like. Plus, he's a musician in one of the premier opera orchestras of the world. In short, he's got street cred. I agree with him about voices heard in mono recordings. They sound richer and fuller, although I listen with two speakers on a stereo system, not over a dedicated mono system.
