    To my ears these 3rd Gen Air pods are more comfortable compared to the newer Pro version with the soft gel tips. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxgl8SzyQoymMu-S3V55Dskg5QJ8xr1yCR That said, compared to the 3rd Gen, I notice these do not stay planted in the ear as well. One design issue I think, is you squeeze the stem and click it twice to advance your songs. On 3rd gen you tap the large speaker. The difference is by grabbing the stem each time, you tend to loosen the bud fit in your ear. Not always, but the bud falls out a few times while running. The old tap to change never had that problem for me. I would not have changed that tap function. That said, the newer Pro version sticks in the ear, almost airtight if you want that. I do not like that Airtight fit. So that's why I'd stay with this version as the best trade off of comfort, use, and overall feel.

  • @drsus0
    @drsus0 4 ปีที่แล้ว +181

    I dont think you guys had any idea just how much people wanted guys like you to look into these.. and now i hope you look into a lot more consumer stuff. We all want to hear from people that actually know what here talking about. Guys on TH-cam with millions of followers are just giving uninformed opinions, but have a charm, and in the end no one really takes their opinion that serious. As much as I like the Marquees and the Neistats, they have no actual education on how these things are engineered and what to look for, and it renders their videos on tech reviews nothing more than if i was talking to my buddy about it, which its totally fine and they’re very entertaining at it, hence the numbers.... but sometimes i want to hear what real experts see, specially w expensive stuff, and without all the fanboy undertones.

    • @chillz261
      @chillz261 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I think the appeal come from the fact that the overwhelming majority of people purchasing these products have about the same amount, if not less, of knowledge on these types of products. Hearing experts discuss these things is super interesting, but I feel like unless you yourself are an expert, you wouldn’t be able to appreciate what they’re saying even if you were to purchase these headphones for yourself.

    • @drsus0
      @drsus0 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chillz261 listening to experts is educational .... therefore you’ll know more about what they’re talking after listening to them. In this case they would make you more educated in something, that as you say, you were going to purchase anyway. And if you were on the fence , they’re expert opinion and observation might help you in your decision more than someone like marquee that more or less gives you opinion on the product, but as far as sound being worth the price, he admits he knows little about that.

There's tons of YT reviewers out there to give their opinion on sound quality, frequency response, and all the other BT/NC capabilities. But to see the engineering hat evaluation on build quality and technical design is unique. Most in fact none of the YT reviewers can evaluate a product the lens these 3 just did. Been using it for exactly a week now and can only say, those headphones are pretty impressive.
    I normally use the Focal Elegia for editing and streaming (which can't be replaced by the Apple one, considering the quality with the additional 39$, being terribly BAD!!!!).
    But otherwise, the comfort is great despite the weight, the sound and the SPATIAL SOUND gives a great experience, especially when you scroll through TikTok for instance, where everybody is using very different time of recording devices, some of them having 3D mode, which is extremely well interpreted by the Airpod max.
    The Case is ridiculous though. But I've been using it all day long, outside (0°Celsius here in Switzerland), in the office, and can't find much to complain.
    The connection switch between devices can be enhanced, still doesn't work perfectly, but still way better than the Sony WH1000XM4 (which btw has many issues with delays when used with multiple devices).
    So, as a conclusion, I can say that the AirpodMax is really worth the price ( only very important points in my opinion: make it Jack compatible for pros, improve the case, improve the impact point where both aluminium size touch when laid flat (scratches easily then).
    What I love most: the Apple Watch Nob, VERY VERY enjoyable and efficient, Transparency mode is simply amazing and works very well even when turning head, Construction and general quality, absolutely remarkable.

      Oh these are luxury headphones made for the average person. Meaning the sound profile is meant for average listening. These are not audiophile headphones. Sound quality is probably just okay. People say it sounds just a tad better than the Bose Headphones 700. But then again I don’t trust regular people since everyone said the AirPods sounded really good and they actually sounded like shit. I sold my pair real quick. Apple doesn’t know how to make audio products just yet so I still wouldn’t buy these for myself. But I’ll try Apple audio products again after a few more years. So far their HomePod and airpods have been the worst audio products I’ve ever used for their price points.

    Just last week I got some specks of dust inside my M1 Macbook Pro's screen. I was pretty upset about it. Decided to start a chat with Apple to see what my options were.
    The guy suggested I ship my Macbook off to them to inspect for me. He sent me a box with prepaid return shipping.
    I dropped the box off on Wednesday afternoon. Got an e-mail early Thursday letting me know that Apple had received my Macbook.
    Got my Macbook back the very next day on Friday.
    They replaced the screen for me, dropped in a new battery, replaced my keyboard, and replaced part of the aluminum case.
    All covered under warranty. I didn't pay a dime for anything.
    And I'm still blown away that all this happened in just 2 days!

    Be sure to try the custom audio setup in settings>accessibility>audio/visual>headphone accommodations. It’s a hidden feature. Helped the sound on my Powerbeats Pro a good bit. Going to try on my AirPods Pro also.

    Where's the mention of one of the strongest points - Dolby Atmos/Spatial Music? I think that's where these headphones really shine. The noise reduction works really good compared to other consumer headsets also. They are a bit heavy, but normally that focus goes away shorty after putting them on and listening to the awesome sound that they produce.

    There’s actually no wire running through the headband. They pass electrical signals through the solid steel.

    when they said there is a wire running into the headband, the entire headband itself transfers power from one cup to the other via a terminal connector and brush system. There isn't any "wires" the headband is an adjustable length wire itself.

    Interesting group…guy on right seems like a former design engineer turned manufacturing engineer because he is looking at the product from every angle cradle to grave, guy in back the experienced one that mostly only knows how to verbalize the aspects that need improvement(which actually says a lot about the product when he’s not able to find many points for improvement), and guy on the left that is probably an electrical engineer because he seems nervous af to be around people and smiles non stop like he’s high af.

    I have hifi headphones and bluetooth headphones mainly for different purpose. If I want to sit back and relax listening to music at highest its form I listen to my hifi gear but if I want convenience like working out, talk to someone over the phone or attend an online meeting I use bluetooth headphones. As long as it does its purpose for me and sound is decent enough bluetooth headphones are okay. I really don't have golden ears like some people do and I'm not really picky about the sound.

    • @goldpieceleo
      @goldpieceleo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GBR9794 but it's very inconvenient to use a hifi cans when your doing things that requires more complicated movements like working out. Plus it's not every time that you have a good DAC and AMP with you to power you headphones like for example when I was in the gym then I suddenly had a Zoom meeting. Bluetooth headphones have their specific use and place.

    • @goldpieceleo

      @@GBR9794 BT dongle doesn't do it for me because the IEM still has a cable. I damage so many IEM cables in my workouts especially when I do high intensity exercises. I only use hifi gear when I'm at home just relaxing.

    AirPodsMax are stylish, elegant, and beautiful. The sound is very good. The Spatial Sound is cool. Would appreciate more ability to fine tune within Spatial Sound; and easy switching between Stereo and Spatial. These Pods work well with Bose and JBL speakers. However, the stainless steel construction rather than titanium makes them heavy on the head. The cheap looking netted headband that looks worse over time has no cushioning and is uncomfortable and headachy for some. Suggest using bubble wrap to cushion the band if discomfort is an issue. For the hefty price, Apple could have done much better in terms of user comfort. I do not plan to upgrade due to the head band issue. Discerning audiophiles like the option to cord connect to speakers. Thankfully, Apple has a cord that you can buy separately that can connect these Pods by Jack or Aux port to Studio type speakers. You may need an adapter. Other great studio type headphones with incredible sound used by audiophiles, studio techs, and musicians are made in Germany and Italy. A few are cheaper than Apple with comfortable head bands. If you are invested in the Apple universe, and have compatible speakers, then buy these. Everyone should have more than 1 pair of headphones.

    • @jpfidalgo7
      @jpfidalgo7 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It probably depends on what part of the headphone you contribute. And that would align with the fact that they have 3 engineers talking. There is sound engineering, probably mostly derived from mechanical engineering with specialization in vibrations and acoustics to adjust shapes and sizes of components to tune the oscilation and sound wave interferences and such. Electrical engineering that deals with the powering, build of the coils and their specs, and the other things like batteries and such, if applicable. And mechanical enginnering specialized in manufacturing, where you figure out how to actually build the parts, how to integrate the parts with each other, test their strength and durability, manufacturing tolerances (deviation from design sizes that are acceptable for the final product). Not sure about thus, but this is my best guess.
