I've undertaken 5 trips in the past year to Thistlegorm, 4 dives on each, studying the wreck, researching it offline in detail and I really fear for it's future. The wreck is an incredible site, I've been lucky to dive many dives with just myself and buddy on the boat, but all too often the mass market inexperienced divers and bashing into the wreck, each other and something should be done. I hope the authroities find a way to protect, I'd suggest a floating mooring system, where boats can moor and then ferry in by smaller boat. Fixed lines to the areas each side and above the wreck. I hope Thistlegorm is preserved for future generations, for me I never tire of a dive here.
Puh - in 3 weeks i will be there. I always try to be a respectfull diver but after seeing this documentation i might decide not to dive the Thistlegorm....
I guess it’s a task for the government, not divers. The government made about 100 million dollars and couldn’t afford to spend some $ to make a few hook points at the bottom.
Great Information.
Thanks ❤
You are welcome!
