Hi mate thanks for the message. A diffusion filter was used to bloom some of the highlights. We had a very even flat sky that day which was great for the lighting on the subjects but not the most interesting to look at so glad you thought the diff helped
@@richieanker You don't put a horrific Lut on a new camera release footage. I'd steer clear from this camera if that's the quality of video footage coming out of that C70.

Hi Albert. You can use the camera to send or receive a timecode signal to jam it with another camera, or with a recorder. It’s just an option in the settings menu. Makes it very easy to have the camera and audio recorder on the exact same timecode, which is very handy for multicam matching
Nice camera work capturing the performance but not sure about the grade. The diffusion may be a creative choice but looks a bit mushy in some shots even in 4K.
Sorry, but why the purple skin tone? And why such a contrasty, stylized look? Shouldn't test footage be properly exposed and white balanced? This looks like T2i footage from 2010.

Hi Greg, sky is clear but all within levels, nothing clipping on the scopes. We shot all of the clip except the opening gimbal shot with manual AF to go along with the raw handheld approach so there is a bit of drifting

The opening was great but there is some definite artifacting going on. Also, the camera man let it roll on autofocus with a tight lens giving all those shots popping in and out of focus. Didn't look like rack focus but more like I just here to film. I was interested but after this video I have changed my mind. Great song though!

I'm not a "Canon customer" per se. Years ago I bought a point-and-shoot as a layperson know-nothing. Right now I'm randomly watching videos and landed on this. With that in mind, here's some critical thinking about your comment: Correlation is not causation. It could be that Canon has either/both poor products & poor services which causes a poor reaction. Another likelihood is they over promise for the price. It seems rather unlikely that a camera company, for inexplicable reasons, attracts people who show up salty as a matter of permanent disposition. "They came like that." It could also be that you see in others what you are. ;)
Sorry but the footage doesn't look very good. I have an 8-year old Canon C100 Mark II (shoots 8-bit) and I can make it look 10 times better. For a camera that is soon to hit the market, the grading should be subtle (Rec 709) or maybe slightly artistic. The grading used here is so overdone that it was most likely done to hide some problems with the footage. I don't understand Canon's decision to lend this camera to anyone and then not filter what's been posted.

Fantastic song, I wasnt sure about some of those shots though, watching that shallow focus with the camera shakes was a bit difficult. I am sure with the changing light some sacrifices had to be made. In regards, noone talked about low light capability, which this camera to my knowledge, has none.

Hi mate CVP have done a great breakdown of the camera and they've got a good section on how the ISO noise which might be of interest. Personally thought this camera was amazing at low light, we had about 15min to shoot this after the sun went down over the horizon and in the past that would have meant unusably noisy footage. Also we filmed with manual focus and not using the internal stabilisation because we felt that fit the style of the song. I don't get why Canon partners up with filmmakers who can not get the most out of their new hardware. This is just subpar filmmaking and could be shot on an old Canon T2i. Very disappointing.

Being honest and direct is the only way to improve in this business. You gain nothing if you lie for someone else's comfort. To detail my opinion further: the amount of bloom and blown out highlights prohibit us from seeing dr and highlight rolloff. The grade, somebody said "is it 2010?" and I agree, it looks dated and seems to be hiding more colour than it wants to show. It doesn't show the autofocus nor the stabilisation. Movement and focus are erratic and, weirdly most of the clip is shot in close up. I don't care if you think it is artistic, my point is: this is a first impression of a new, potentially game changing camera and it shows NONE of it's featured specs. If I were Canon this would have never seen the light of day. Both technically and artistically.

@Frederic Detjens That's the first thing to came to my mind when I saw this (probably because I've been in that situation when I started)... footage doesn't look great, let's add alot of stylized grading and call it artsy.
Nice camera, but not at professional level with autofocus. Better to stay on manual. My eye kept picking up focus issues which were distracting, very subtle. See at 3:08 to 3:17 and another at 4:17. These are just two examples of many.

Sorry, but I think the images don't look good at all! At my end, I'm seeing horrible compression artifacts, severe banding and a lot of out-of-focus shots. I know TH-cam can sometimes be quite harsh on compression, but I have seen much better quality than this from cheaper cameras. Not a good first outing, Canon!

Hi William, I’m the cellist in the video. I’m a session musician - being a session musician means you have to be pretty comfortable not being credited. It’s nice when it happens but the industry doesn’t lend to it, so it doesn’t concern me. I’m sorry you don’t like the song, I reckon it’s pretty raw, personal and real - especially the lyrics. Each to their own though!

@@dornmusic No it wouldnt. the sensor is low megapixel so it there no binning so it should be sharper than most hybrids. not super 8k sample sharp but sharp. also the DR and high iso is much better so that to many is just as or more important than just sharpness.
