- Today we're building a family cottage farmhouse vacation home from Newport Beach California. I found this home for sale while looking at real estate in the USA and thought that it would look super cool for a Real to Sims build! I used lots of platforms to create separation in this open concept floorplan. The house is perfect for a family of 5 with a pet. The west wing of the home is dedicated to at at-home photography studio for one of the parents. What size should my next home build be? Don't forget to rate my curb appeal recreation out of 10! Love how this house feels so warm while still being very clean and modern. Also, I'm looking forward to your podcast! I started my current job in the middle of the pandemic and I've been missing the workplace banter I had with my old coworkers
I like this build!
When it comes to kids' bedrooms, I remember as a child, I HATED childish things for decor. Glitter was a nightmare to clean, stickers eventually fell off and I would rather they stay in their packs pristine and clean, I was constantly changing my mind on my favorite color, so if I had a pink bedroom my fascination would only last for a few months tops to the point that my parents just left it white. I always wanted a mural, but again I am indecisive so I would get bored of the topic and want something else to the point that I never got a mural. I grew to appreciate a white room and imagine what I could have done instead, which I think is the reason that I like building in the sims. I have seen and even built children's bedrooms using the same dark blue paint (for example) I had used in all the house to challenge myself on using limited packs and colors. What turns it into a "child's bedroom" is the personal clutter. In the end, it still looks like part of the house while still being obvious that it's for kids.
Hi Ashley! I love the build and the colours were so pretty. I would love to see more modern mansion builds in the future bc they are my personal favorite thing to build in the Sims 4 and I could use some more inspiration. Keep up the good work!!

Hey Ashley, I love this build. It’s really difficult to make an open concept sim home not feel like tumbleweeds will be blowing through it because it’s so big lol.
My family was big when I was little too, kids were always at the table in the kitchen. As the oldest, I spent a lot of time cutting food and cleaning up messes. 🤣
I’d love to see you tackle a classic Charleston Shotgun style home! They vary a lot from very gothic influence to a more brick and clean-line style depending on who owns them. Double porches are so cool on them and they tend to have yards right out of southern living.
Also I don’t know if you build commercial lots much? But I think if you ‘converted’ an old business loft into a coffee shop/book store in your style, it would be amazing.

At this stage of the game and how long it’s been out I don’t think the game is getting cars because you made some good points. Also I enjoyed watching this and you did a good job recreating the house ☺️.

I don't know if you will see this 10 months later but how would you rate the adjustments made this year so far to the BG (and overall), since you were talking about it here? Personally I really love everything they did this year (except MWS, we don't talk about her lol) and especially all the creator collaborations on kits, new BG hairs and such.
Also, this is such an amazing build, it's insane what you can do without mods/TOOL. Your builds are not only aesthetically pleasing but also very playable, perfect for actual gameplay.

I know we won't be getting functional cars, but as a builder I really wish we had more options of vehicles to place in front of homes. I'd be 100% okay with them being incorporated solely as decoration

Love this house! Personally, on the car topic, I don’t think they will add cars to the Sims 4 because they did away with the open world aspect that they had in Sims 3, so a car would be kind of pointless. I do think they will add them to Sims 5 though.

I grew up in a apartment and I used scatter my toys everywhere which drove my mom crazy especially when she would step on my Hot Wheels.

I think if they make car in the Sims 4 they will like they did Sims 2. Where the car pulls out of the driveway and then you have loading screen. Have parking space at community lot where car goes and vis via. Something like that.

I don’t believe they’ll add cars in TS4. Some lots are not directly connected to the street. Even if they wanted to do it as we had in TS2 it would be really hard cause the worlds aren’t designed and programmed in a way that allows a dinamic and interaction for cars. If they ever add cars and garages I wouldn’t expect any animations related to them. It will be basically like a “pretending” thing.
If the Sims5 is Open World you can expect cars there and I hope they do it better than TS2 and TS3. They have the knowledge and technology to do that for a new game.
And I hope they do, because in real life Garages are part of most houses!
Random.... But doesn't anyone else wish bookshelves where empty? Between cc and all the extra stuff you can buy, you can clutter each shelf with what's necessary to your individual build. 💁
