- We install and use the brand new Tillotson 225cc racing engine from Go Power Sports! We've heard great things about this engine since it's birth, and now we finally get to test it out ourselves! The manufacturer claims this Honda clone go kart engine makes 17 horsepower right out of the box, and after testing it, we believe it. It's bored AND stroked compared to a 212, and it is torquey!

Found one listed for free in my local Facebook marketplace just yesterday and there was about a million comments on it in the first 10 minutes. I got a feeling that guy ended up getting money for it lol.
I live in R.I. Every frame I find online, even if it's a clapped out, falling apart, junk frame, people are still asking top dollar.. It's pretty ridiculous.🍻🍻

Y’all need to find a old go kart track and buy it. You could sale your merch and have meet and greets there. Maybe have your own parts store there as well.

That’s the perfect kart & engine combo for my dirt circle track my grandson and I have been working for a few years now , it’s a small almost circle just under 1/20th of a mile but with compact clay soil we can run the cushion wide open if we get the set up right . We meaning my 13 yo gs and I’m hoping nothing brakes , falls apart or the cushion gets to packed and it starts climbing the wall . All of them we install roll cage and 5 point harnesses, kill switch. The home build karts are running stock 212’s with the no cost mods and the all run a bit better in one form than another but on the circle the oldest kart saved from a scrap pile is fastest regardless of swapping engines , but has the worst breaks and a inch of ground clearance . I wish I could order six of them identical so when all the grandkids show we can have good racing ! It’s a real chore to get 4 race ready and never have we had all of them make it 20 lap race without something causing DNF infact we had one win by default from last place and rookie powder puff would be a stretch for her ability’s slow and steady will get you to the podium here every time.

Pretty cool dyno chart! That's a definite torque monster!!! It's making its peak torque at upwards of 6500 and it's a pretty flat smooth curve all the way up! Hence why it's such a power house! I'm definitely sold on that, someone did their homework on this combination where it has the best of both worlds top bottom and mid range power! Very very nice to see! Thanks again guys for the demonstration video!

Why am I reminded of "slow is smooth, smooth is fast"? Could you imagine making 90mph carts for a circle track and taking them to Florida and running them at FF? Now THAT would be cool, seeing a bunch of people on stupid fast gokarts on a decent sized oval? Oh hell yeah!

You know it's kind of funny, I called Go Power Sports several months ago and ask them about the Tillotson 225 and they didn't know what I was talking about and now apparently they're selling it. I was building something and needed an engine before and I decided to settle with the 212 and now they actually have this freaking thing but I already have a motor

Yeah that's what they said in videos. John was saying he was buying a place. They haven't explained it yet. My only guess is that they filmed this a while back and are just now releasing it.

I think you should put some dirt tires on that thing for the cars and cameras grand prix. those slicks aren't doing it any justice.
If you put on a torque converter then you'd be stronger in the low-end and be able to use a smaller rear axle sproket. I think you could get the top speed to 70 with that setup and should do a top speed run video.

get a bluprinted bully twin disk clutch!!! adjustable engagement and you can also get diffrent toothed sprockets. you leave sooo much power on the table with those drum clutches.

I'm sure they give you some procedure but I've always stayed under 1/2-3/4 throttle while cycling through the rpm(on the gas, off the gas). Let it cool down, run it again til hot again change the oil and run it

Break in = drive it hard but not too hard. Looks like they sorted that out just fine.

They use the slicks so they don't tear up the yard that bad

Big sprocket in rear high top end small sprocket in rear killer bottom end. Notice how it takes awhike to get the rpms up. Killer vid tho y'all

Not exactly a stroker like we think of these days but is a bored and stroked gx200 like everything else if we get technical.
Same stroke as a 212 though if I remember correctly.

Nice chassis. That is a mid 80's Margay Expert and they handle very nicely. I had one that I raced back in the day.
You should weld a piece of flat steel in between the front wheels and sharpen it. Then you can mow the grass while having fun. Great videos!!

That cart has 2 horsepower more than my 420cc mini bike with Mikuni carb
Throw a set of Burris grooved dirt tires and that thing will grip pretty good in the yard. And by the way, love the soda bottle catch can! 👍 Love the videos!
no traction = torque - grip, fix reduce torque by installing a smaller wheel sprocket, and/or bigger wheel with lower psi ( say 12 psi) it will also give you a smoother ride. also increase top speed.
As much as I like Ike's Country Estate I realize that this cart build wouldn't do that well out there.
Here's a CarsandCameras business plan, or whatever, work towards a shop/property where ya'll have a decent off-road track and paved track, for testing purposes only of course. A nice all in one facility, there's gotta be something reasonable there in NC, I know dream on. lol

Here's a idea. let's put the fire breathing flame spitting exhaust right next to the fuel tank vapor cap.then we will lean back on the fuel tank. Thus insuring we catch on fire. But let's run the gauntlet anyway. That's a bad ass motor. 90 percent of your builds are off road. At least put some treaded tires on all corners.

Cool engine, there is a little thing called a vacuum pulse fuel pump. There cheep and work great on apps like those.

Its nice to see a tillotson with some power. I wasn't very impressed with the tillotson 212 you put on your Murray mini bike. it had no torque on low end but had good speed. me and my buddy have the same bike with a stock predator 212 that would flip us over with ease and do 46 mph with the governor. I give that 225 two thumbs up
That's a nice engine but I think that I would rather build one myself. Seeing what kinda power you can build is half the fun!
