So one strand is doing always on yhe left and does the knotting? Therefore the left cord must be much longer ciz it's used up faster?

Lonnie Hartstack Yes exactly, one side is the carrier and the other working. So the side that does the knotting will use more and end up shorter than the side that is just carrying it. :)
