If nights suddenly comes back, we know it’s because there’s been a rise of court jester type characters being made for pop culture, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Sega is like we got to bring back nights officially

I like to think of NiGHTS as a straight up Cryptid or Myth in the sonic universe, and that the Hotel Resort & Pinball Table are akin to how many Japanese company mascots are based off of Yokai (mythological creatures). Mobius having a "NiGHTS Mythology" will forever be my headcannon.

With Sega reviving their old ip like Crazy Taxi, Gulden Axe, Jet Set Radio, and more as they announced it back at the Gaming Awards, I think now its possible to see Nights makes a big comeback if the 5 Super games that Sega showed off are successes. Im definitely hype n getting Jet Set Radio day 0 and hope its successful so that we get a new Nights comeback

It is entirely possible for Nights to be canon in most Sonic Team series without contradicting itself if they wanted to that route as long as they don't mess with Nightopia's lore. But I'm sure most would prefer it keep its identity rather than be gwomped and absorbed by the Sonic lore. Least I would. I'm cool with these just being seen as fun non canon nods.

Oh yeah, doesn't Sonic Superstars also has Metal NiGHTS (which is like, Metal Sonic but its NiGHTS) as an unlockable skin? also very minor but you can unlock a NiGHTS avatar in Sonic Colors Ultimate.

Given that Nightopia is a world accessed by literally sleeping, and it’s implied that NiGHTS can go to the “Waking World” in Journey of Dreams, I’d say it’s fair chance that ANY “Waking World”, including Mobius, would be accessible to them too. NiGHTS is definitely a Sonic character in my book. Heck, the whole cast of the NiGHTS series could be at this point. 👌

NiGHTS seems to have no preference of pronouns. In most media they use he/him, but are said to have no gender. I used They/them since it was the easiest thing to do
Well, to be fair, Journey of Dreams uses he/him for both NiGHTS and Reala, and Reala says "that's a good boy" towards them, so using he/him is the only official way I know of that they've referred to NiGHTS. (Though this was when they/them wasn't as commonly used as a singular pronoun, so they may have defaulted to that since typically the English language defaults to male pronouns when the gender is unknown. Reala also calls them "sibling" instead of "brother" in one scene, which is not very commonly used so I think that was a deliberate choice.) The creators have said that NiGHTS is technically genderless but also that their gender is determined by the person they are mirroring, which they said would typically be the same as said person. I personally think NiGHTS probably wouldn't care about which pronouns people use for them, but I personally use he/him and they/them interchangeably.

As a proponent of just making NiGHTS a Sonic character in the same vein of Cody from Final FIght, its sad to say a lot of these appearances are non canon like Sonic's Pinball Party or Sonic Runners. (the Sonic wiki thankfully has been keeping track of that even though they still won't keep track of the timeline despite clear repeated statements but I digress) Ian Flynn has even been asked about the idea but hes unsure about it, as he doesn't want the NiGHTS brand to loose it's identity and hopes for a new game even though he acknowledges its the best way to keep it alive. (With the current revival of many SEGA properties, I now hope for a new game as well but why can't NiGHTS have both?) Honestly NiGHTS and the lore from their game really fills out the other half of the lore introduced in Sonic Shuffle and its really a shame to see Sonic Dream Team not take advantage of the lore already set up.
I mean pinball party is canon in that the table likely exists in the sonic universe.
I know Ian Flynn and Sega are trying hard to set up a standard Sonic canon, but at the end of the day it's not going to make sense and I think Sonic works best with a loose canon

I have to disagree on both fronts. SEGA already had a standard canon despite SEGA's American and European branches trying to get rid of it to make things simpler with the classic games, until the Meta Era where they started chasing the Mario crowd and those that actively hate Sonic to begin with, cough Arin Hanson cough. (With Black Knight being a swan song for the Sonic of old) So I consider this to be a restoration, not something new. This IMO has always been one of the things that makes Sonic far more appealing than Mario.

as a NiGHTS enthusiast, I’m just happy whenever they’re having attention given to them.

The fact that Sonic Pinball Party put NiGHTS characters as cameos in the story mode tournament gave us Wizeman beating Shadow at pinball (offscreen, sure, but it happened)
Therefore, with Wizeman being able to beat the ultimate life form at pinball, it is my headcanon that Wizeman is godlike at pinball and only lost because Metal Sonic had plot armour

NiGHTS is a Sonic character but in a shared universe kind of way. Like how Usagi is a TMNT character but from his own series. He's a crossover Sonic character.

8:18 That's not that much true. You see, fans are somehow great of rviving old games a fix them so they are more playable and fun. Project 06, Free Riders with no kinect whatsoever a of course: Sonic Runners Revival. It's basically the same game but now it's harder to get red rings, because you can't buy them with the real money anymore. But other than that, it's still the based game. So if you wanna play it, there's nothing that can stop you.
I wish they showed up in Balan. I think Nights has to fight them 5 on a regular basis
