- I took some time to deliver a fascinating study on which vintage backpacking stove would deliver the fastest boil downs, very scientific!

I really like the sound of the creek!
Rover Creek provides!
👍👍👍 .. a nice blast from the past.
I have the Optimus 8R Hunter .. bought new in the latter '70's and still in use .. love it!
The 8R and the 123, the burner mechanisms are much of a muchness, so boil times should be similar .. the deciding factor possibly being insulation / isolation from cold and wind.
The Primus looks very much the same which is not surprising, considering their genealogy.
Three units well worth keeping, cleaning up and using for the next 50 years 😊.
Thanks for sharing ..
Cheers, Thomas! You know, when it comes to our family adventures, the go-to stove we normally pack is the Coleman Feather 400b, but I'll still pack the 8R now and again for nostalgia's sake!
11:25 the timer was started to soon. Cool test.
Haha, yes, busted, so do you think it would affect the overall results, or will the Svea 123 remain the winner?
it was the winner. 12 minutes

Nice, its not about the speed of the boil, but the surroundings that can be absorbed into the mind. I bought a new Svea 123 what a great design. Petrol stoves are great for motorcycle camping as you always have extra fuel with you....very cheap to run, and work well in low temperatures. I prime mine with a 30 ml syringe and just suck a little out of the main fuel bowl.
I do the very same thing, taking both my SVEA, and my Toaks, on my old DR650 backroad adventures!
And, definitely a big 'hell yeah' to absorbing those surroundings!
Nice video ❤
Thanks Jen, hope you continue enjoying what I'm putting out there!
Nice vid man... What camera are you using? Looks good ...
It's an older Sony action cam, the as200, I believe...shoots in 1080p at 60fps...someday I'll upgrade to 4k, but not today!
dood... you dont need 4k... 1080 is great for youtube...I have an old Sony x3000... same thing... the trick is to record in 1080p 60fps... but 'render' that in 4k so that TH-cam gives you better quality encoding... the camera you have is still used by top TH-camrs... the picture rocks... just go drink a few beer while rendering and uploading... also 4k sucks when mixing... I have a computer with 16 cores and 64GB ram... still slow when mixing 4k...@@Back40Bushcraft
