I get that everyone hates Roman right now, and that they think that Hope is just a naive teenager chasing after a boy, but they both are just teenagers who make mistakes. The reality is that deep down Roman just wants his mother to love him, be proud of him, and he wants to help keep her safe by helping get rid of the hybrids. I think that he truly does have genuine feelings for Hope, and maybe they could have been (or could still be something extremely adorable) it will just take time, forgiveness, and understanding.
