Diminished chords are so useful. They can easily be turned into dominant chords by lowering any of the chord tones by a half step, making it even more of an incredible tool.
I'm a little more interested in those inner movement chords you were playing starting at 9:32. Please do a lesson on inner movements within chords. Nice video.
Diminished triads fall on 7th degree as leading tone to 1-major. 1-4-5 are major chords. Diminished chords half step below have that same leading tone resolution.
