A lot of people seem to think that Indian cities' rise in population is due to high fertility rates. It's not true. The fertility rate of India is 2.3-2.4. It's even lower in cities. The main reason is the migration of people from rural to urban areas. As of now only 30% of Indians live in cities. This percentage will keep on growing as India is expected to urbanise very rapidly. That's the main reason for rise in cities' population

It's not like Russia with empty Siberia, China with empty western region, Usa with empty central region and Brazil with empty country except few cities. You see in the countries mentioned above you would find less than 10% people live in 80% of land. It's not like this in India. Population is more evenly distributed. We don't have any wasteland. Despite being seventh largest in Area, and top six countries all having 2.5 to 3 times the total area of India, we are in 2nd place in area fit for agricultural use, just behind usa.

Japan and South Korea on average live in far more densely populated areas. 3 of the 29 Indians states have 40% of the population. The entire northeastern India (where i live) is has a density lesser than most countries in the world.

Bro Delhi is the whole region with the satellite cities. New Delhi is the main part of the city.
New Delhi is the national Capital of India and is an enclave of Delhi (currently barely has a million people living in the "New Delhi" area). It's smack right in the Middle of Delhi though (the map which this video shows). The other comment which talks about Delhi being the whole region with satellite cities included is wrong. That is called Delhi-NCR (NCR stands for National Capital Region)
Delhi is a region and New Delhi is a city in it.
Earlier I used to think that it's the same way as New York City is in New York but later found out that New York is a state while Delhi isn't a state but a Union Territory😛

@imthe badass I thought Mumbai was the most populated in India but was overtake by Delhi and the gap is wider and wider so I don't see Mumbai will overtake anytime soon.
Another thing to keep in mind for the Chinese cities is that they aren't allowed to reach such large populations. Shanghai, for example, passed a law limiting the city to 25 million people. This plays a large role in why there are these "ghost cities" popping up, as the government needs people to move away from the super congested areas.

Good video but my only issue is that for the city outlines you have used the municipal city boundaries and then displayed the population of the metro area which is signficantly larger in size.

That population of Buenos Aires correponds to both the city of Buenos Aires, and the metropolitan área arround it, made by different departments and called 'Gran Buenos Aires'. That geography shape correponds only to the city of Buenos Aires, which has less than 3 million.
He uses the metropolitan area for ALL of the cities, not just Buenos Aires. Also, Buenos Aires has more than 3 million people. The census here is a joke and plus it's from 2010 anyway.

Sao Paulo has tons and tons of people in 2019. I cannot figure out how it will be in 2030. There are many families that don't have any place to live in, lots of homeless people (about 17 thousand). May God have mercy of us, because Brazilian authorities don't have.

@@shehran6936 Sure mate. My point is it doesn't vary to large extents. 2% and 1.1% are miles apart. At this point the terrorism activities in Pakistan has come down to a greater extent so estimates wouldn't vary by huge margins in my opinion. The current Pakistani government government is doing its best to curb terrorist activities.
