The Strangers Trailer - A young couple staying in an isolated vacation home are terrorized by three unknown assailants.
Universal - 2008
Home invasion movies like this are terrifying because they're not far-fetched at all. There's real sadistic and violent killers in the world who love to prey on vulnerable people...I live in the countryside and The Strangers terrifies me!
The Greek Pianist this whole movie is based off a true event, it’s not the same exact thing but it happened.
@@chaneltv517 about the cabin murders right?
@@chaneltv517 Movies like these will scare anyone because this actually happens. I read up on it, and I see the case is still open to this day.. that's nuts. But back then it was more difficult to find evidence and what not.. but today it's so much easier!
@@trooprm317 yea also about the sharon tate murder aka the massacre that was lead my charles manson
Yes it is really scary...
“Why are you doing this to us?”
“Because you were home...”
That sent shivers down my spine. No deep rooted hatred or passion. Just for fun.
Scary thing is I didn’t realize how scary that line actually was until I got older cause I saw it in high school.
Wait what does it mean
@@rianzuta3135 that they were chosen just because they were home. No other sinister reason, thus making it scarier that it can happen to anyone.
@@Lacuadraboxeo. oh thanks
@Peppa Pig well rhen ur dumb
Honestly my favourite scene was the wide shot of her in the lounge room and one of the strangers just slowly walks into view and looks at her. It's so creepy and tense, and even though nothing happens in that moment and she doesn't see him it's just so CREEPY!
Yes. That scene for me was the reason I thought this was such a brilliant horror film. It was a scary scene but it wasnt some cheap jump scare.
I first "watched" this movie more than 4 years ago, it was airing on TV. I watched only a few scenes but the scene you are talking about is the one that remained in my mind and made me search it
knwh172 That was The Man in The Mask.
It's scarier because the room isn't dark. If she hadn't already been on edge she wouldn't have even known to look for the person or be frightened. It could be happening to you right now and you wouldn't know until too late
That scene alone kept me up at night, the first time I ever saw the trailer
“Inspired by true events”
Me:💩💩💩👖
like let’s leave that out before i lock myself in the closet..
It’s loosely inspired by the manson family murders and a series of break ins in some neighborhood that happened a while back. However the director said that when he was young someone knocked on his door asking for someone he didn’t know and then found out his two neighbors had been murdered
ive never understood why people split in horror movies😂😂
What do u mean
WILD CHILD right
@@szymonbober2280 You have to realize that it's because they thought that if they took a chance by splitting up, one of them could at least make it out alive... without realizing that the 3 of them were circling the house the entire time. Watching countless horror films over the years (since I've been a huge buff of Horror, Thriller, Mystery, Cult, Grindhouse, and Exploitation movies since I was little), I've come to realize that you simply can't always expect 100% rational logic regardless. However when it does occur, it's obviously a plus. Half the time, the writers/creators blatantly want the characters to make mistakes to try and make the finished product more realistic, since of course not everyone will think downright logically when they have pure adrenaline/anxiety coursing through their veins, and are in flight or fight mode... Though sometimes even the distributors/producers will also even alter the director's original version too. It's not simply to randomly kill them off like they never even mattered in the first place like dozens of other mainstream films do. That's why there's an UNRATED version of this with deleted scenes, and an entirely different alternate ending too, interestingly enough... It also is extended by 2 and a half minutes in total. Kinda like the same with the remake for Dawn of The Dead that was surprisingly good, but still not as much of a masterpiece of George A. Romero's original. It even has at least 10 minutes of bonus footage not shown in the theatrical version (similar to The Strangers) because it was apparently "too scary" for theaters, just like infamous alternate cut of The Exorcist (which I honestly prefer over the theatrical version simply due to how much more frightening the film is with this deleted footage reinserted) known as "The Version You've Never Seen" which I definitely recommend!
Me neither honestly its quite weired
probably because the axe came down on them really hard
Most underrated horror film of all time. Very little jump scares, no demons or monsters, just human beings preying on others for fun. Absolutely terrifying.

Not as scary as "The Ring (2002)" it is disturbing and scary at the same time
I saw this in theaters at a midnight showing with my best friend; it was the day before our senior high school graduation practice. I'll never forget it. We were the only ones in the theater, and it rattled us to our cores. I've yet to see a scarier modern film on the big screen. It has some minor flaws, but I still regard it as one of the best horror movies of the 21st century.
You're absolutely right this is one of the scariest movies ever seen in my life I was sitting in a big theater by myself I've never been so terrified in my life
Try the movie Hush
Try the hereditary, it is super scary
This is the scariest thing I’ve sent since “Shutter” which came out the same year I believe. Your post reminds me about the time my friend and I went to watch the It Remake part one we were the only ones in the theater, except an employee standing way in the back by himself the whole time
This film was the first time I gor scared in the theatre
Idk why this movie has such low ratings honestly. I think it's one of the scariest movies I've ever seen because of how possible it is. Like this kind of thing happens and that's way scarier than a lot of other movie plots

I just realized every scene in the movie. The camera moves around, it's never steady
raptor rodger i loved that about it
They wanted to create something that felt real I guess.
One of the finest uses of shaky cam. Because it wasn't used to hide sloppily done action sequences or horrible CGI. It was done to add to the atmosphere. To emphasize the tension
And it had no jump scare effects/music just a creepy record skipping. 😟
yeah it makes you feel like someone is filming them through the windows or something and it makes it less like a movie and more real
Infinitely better than The Strangers chapter one trailer
I know right 😭
I literally made a video on how bad it looked 😭😭😭
Shorter, less cheesy, better music, completely creepier and more interesting. It's a bit ridiculous that they can royally screw up remakes when the evidence of how to make it great already exists lool
The person or people responsible for putting this trailer together definitely did a good job. Still memorable even after a decade later.
I mean even when you commented the movie was 12 years old so def older than a decade tho
@@user-mq9zz8qe1o almost 2 decades but still one of the best horrors
It's easy to make a horror movie nowadays but this is truly one of a kind. The creep factor is on 1,000! The psychotic dialogue and torment from the killers, plus the fact that we never saw their faces! Still gives me the heeby jeebies! One of my all time faves!
Did you heard of the real story of the strangers
I actually liked it. It has alot of originality to it
It was actually scary
series animadas mobile tv it wasn't it was actually a few real events from Charles manson and a few other crimes all mashed together
shut up
"Because you were home." The movie itself was ok but that line is terrifying. They did this for absolutely no reason. The victims didn't do anything, it wasn't personal. They tormented and murdered these poor people for no reason. And that happens every single day in real life. Victims are targeted for no reason other than wrong place wrong time. Very scary, chilling line.

Next time you watch a horror film wear brown pants
"The Strangers"(2008) is an excellent slasher-thriller movie, and one of the 10 best movies of all time for this Kind!
I wouldn't consider The Strangers a slasher film. Only two people explicitly die in this movie, one of whom isn't even killed by the Strangers. Definitely a horror film with leanings of thriller, but not exactly slasher horror.
My dad watches all horror films possible and he still says this is one of the scariest ones hes watched. Not just because they made it a really scary movie (in a creepy house with people in creepy masks) but because this isn't some alien monster thing and this could happen in real life.
I really do feel like they should’ve just ended The Strangers with just one film. I believe that the second and third films are just boredom and quick, easy, cash grab movies. After the third film hits theaters this years, two more sequels are going to happen and they’ll also feel like quick, easy cash grab movies.
The Prey at Night was great but the Chapter 1 upcoming movie is just remaking the first one
@@Thatonehorrormoviefan I still believe that they should’ve left it with just one film.
The trailer just reminded me of the childhood terror of being home alone

I remember this trailer alone had me awake all night when I was younger, the repeat music is freaky as hell! so effective!
Who here after the release of the trailer for The Strangers: Chapter 1? This movie was pure gold, unlike the horror of the new trailer.
yep i think the main thing that the new movie lacks is the unique style that this one had. the orange filter and the shaky cam (i mean who uses shaky cam for a slow home invasion/serial killer movie? but strangely enough, it worked.) the new one looks painfully generic in my opinion
The new movie is a trilogy, and its said to be basically a prequel, which I feel like they’re taking the creepiest aspect of the original, the mystery of the killers. We never know who they really are and that this can really happen to anyone anytime, anywhere.
"Why are u doing this to us?"
"Because u were home."
What’s that supposed to mean?
@@tanman2626 basically there was absolutely no reason that they tried to kill them it’s simply because they were at home
This is what scares me about human beings, they can be cruel opportunists and be ok with that.
How does this movie end
Gotta tell you the actors who played The Strangers we’re brilliant. Gemma Ward(Dollface), Kip Weeks(Man in the Mask) and Laura Margolis(Pin up girl) sent chills up my spine. A rare movie where the good guys don’t win.

One of the best horror movie trailers ever. So incredibly well-made.
The movie was very gripping in the beginning and started in a manner much different from most horror movies. It built slowly, the actual story starting after over twenty minutes and from then onward, there were a lot of creepy moments.
For me, the movie started to get annoying when Kristen ran out of the house, fell on her face and injured her ankle. Cliche much? After that it was just a series of stupid decision and stupid decision like every other horror movie protagonist.
I realize why it has a 6.1/10 on IMDB.
You already knew she would fall and sustain an ankle injury. Cliché for this genre. Still a good watch.
It's probably an Underrated Horror Film to say the least. I cannot wait for their Sequel this Year.

One of my favorite horror movies. It terrified me and Liv Tyler was great in this
Few things have stuck in my head like the record skipping sound in this trailer. Still memorable 16 years later
This movie is based on the true story: the Keddie Murders. These murders took place in some kind of resort in California 1981, in April. There were two slaughtered bodies in the cabin, and the skull of a missing girl in the area. No one knows for sure who conducted these murders nor why. Two people(a middle aged man and woman) with glasses were suspects of the murders.
After the murders, people have claimed to hear strange noises in the cabin. Noises like moaning in irony or something. Then they burned down the cabin to the ground like in 2004.
The cabin's number was 28, and it was in a very remote area. No one heard the screams, noises or anything from the cabin. Modernly, the murder labyrinth is still unsolved, and considered one of the greatest murder mystery in history. They're probabyly still out there...waiting for another evident person to murder...
Actually it was based on the director's experience when he was a kid. He and his sister were alone at home at night and group of drunk men went door to door in his neighborhood checking if people were home or not. When the people were home, the left but when the people weren't, they broke in. The rest of the killer stuff was just added
It is not about that everybody says that

liev tyler is an underrated scream queen tbh
I saw this movie with my best friend at the time when I was like anywhere from 9 to 11. (I'm 18 now and too lazy to do the math)
Story:
It was me, my best friend, her parents, her two brothers, their friends, and one of their girlfriends. We also had a neighbor that was friends with my bff and I but we didn't really like her because of her attitude and how she always pushed us around. Well, she was crying in the kitchen because she didn't want to watch that movie. And they had already started the movie since before she got there. She ended up going into the bff's room and one of the brother's friends decided to go outside and hit the window to freak her out a bit. He slipped back into the room and acted like nothing happened and she went back into the kitchen. My bff's mom said, "On the count of three, lets all scream." So that's exactly what we did and she finally went home (which was the house right beside hers). I felt bad, but it was also our revenge considering she was so rude to us.
Yaaawn

Am I the only one who doesn’t think this movie is good, like at all? It was just 1 and a half hours of a couple running around only to be met with their inevitable fate, and the fact that there was no motive just made it less scary for me. The part that irritated me the most is that they just kept running in and out of the house instead of getting away from them? Like why would you keep going back in as if they’re just going to leave? Not to mention, the only thing somewhat “scary” about this are just the unnecessary loud noises and jump scares 🤦🏻♀️
