If Civivi had put this out in 2022, it would be $80. Miguron is killing it.
It seems like the only purpose of that jimping is for some traction when you're using the front flipper.
That's certainly a hidden gem though!

Went out and got this akri 2 and the miguron velona and am impressed ! In 2022 . About $50 a piece on wmk . Lockbar knthe akri is kinda hard to get to but the detents on both are killer and consistent . That velona tho just handling the knife and the fit and finish is well done . This is a 2 run homerun by Miguron . They are like in between civivi and We quality
Just picked one up as an introduction to both front flippers in general, and Miguron specifically. I have x-large hands, and it took a minute to figure out the best grip for deployment. Once I figured that out, this knife is a dream. Such a nice slender package overall, it’ll be my new gentleman’s carry for the time being. Thanks
And thankfully, roughly one year later, it was even less expensive. $40.15 usd from Amazon with a $3 coupon applied. I ordered the Centurion as well, also on sale sub $40, for the flipper and clip point design. Got the black on black, with blue color way (collar and clip accents). 👍🏻🗡️
Damn you for making me buy this knife!!! Seriously though, been wanting a front flipper and this seems like the way.
Ordered one of these after watching the video. While the gimping is probably 100% for the opening process it works for grip too, at least with my thumb. Enough of the pad of my thumb squeezes in to get a grip. Knife feels great, looks even better, beautiful lines. Only complaint is that when you open it there is a faint click that feels like the liner lock is engaging---but it isn't. I have to rotate the blade just a bit further with my thumb for the liner lock to engage. Carry it a few days and it'll become natural to me. Don't know if I'll carry it though, my EDC knives take a beating and it'd be a shame to scratch this one up.
This one looks very compelling-might have to add one to the collection.
Reminds me of the GiantMouse Ace Sonoma … the blackout version. But for WAY less dollars. I want one!
When it comes to knives, simple is always better. The more simple the design/build, the better the knife is. That's why this knife is BIG thumbs up from me!!!

I’d say it’s true because it’s not possible to make a pocket clip out of any other non ferrous metals so it’s either stainless and slightly magnetic. Or it’s titanium.
Im very tempted to pick this up, i dont have a blade with a crowned spine, dont have a front flipper, and dont have a knife with a milled clip
It amazes me how many really good knives are out there for under $50.00. Think back to twenty or thirty years ago and there was nothing like what we have today.

The "jimping" is just for traction when opening I would assume. Not useless, you used it to open the knife.

Man I just got this knife in the mail yesterday along with the civivi conspirator....I'm very much more impressed in the miguron ...just feels like the more expensive well made hand tool. Kind of disappointed in the conspirator being it is my first civivi...kind of expected the feeling I got when I handled the AKRI lmao 🤣. So glad this version made it on the channel!!! I am very impressed by the value of this knife. Definitely way above it’s price class.
Just picked one up based on MC's enthusiasm, and I am impressed! It absolutely does look and feel like a much more expensive knife. Some gripes? I'd have loved it if they'd used a thinner stock (it's around .145"), although it is decently thin behind the edge at around .015. If they'd given us a small fuller it would have been Spydie flickable. The pocket clip is too tight.
But for fifty bucks? C'mon, man! It's a screaming bargain.

Uhhhhh… the jimping is for front flipping, not thumb grip in the open position… so actually that does make perfect sense.
The jibbing is for the front flipper? It just happens to line up with the top of it when the knife is flipped out.

The Velona is amazing for the price, it is a beast, this has to be worth checking out.
You need to check out the *KERYX* , imo its their most interesting design. Really like the Velona too, but its a lil bigger than Id prefer.

I had one of these in my cart about a year ago that ultimately didn’t end up purchasing. It was the DC53 version. I originally added it because I wanted to try out that steel.
I’m mostly likely going to buy one soon anyways, especially after this video, but now I’m curious. Do you have any experience with DC53 and/or how it stacks against 14c28n?
DC53 is D2 with bit of steroids :) .. so id take 14c28n any day but I wouldnt worry if I already had that knife in DC53

I bought this and end up returning it. Good knife but as far as front flippers in this price range, the kubey ku331 is so much better

Xe and huang has a good knife . The one with the blue bearing covers 👍👍. Check it out . 29.99 on Amazon . Kinda like this one. That’s a nice knife right there . I like the clip and design . I also like a eafengrow I bought . The one with the spear point I thought the liner lock looked a little weak 🙄

They are made in Taiwan it’s on the base of the blade.The quality between China and Taiwan on tools,metals,machines are quite a bit.China has been improving,but it’s know at least 25% under Taiwans.

I have one of these and I WAS very impressed initially. However, after flipping it open for 1 day (maybe flipping too hard) the lockup became very loose. Tried taking it apart and cleaning/tightening what I could. Worked at first, but the blade play came back :/. Somewhat disappointed, especially because it’s a beautiful knife
I would like to note - I think Miguron is a fantastic company and my Keryx is awesome!
Did you loctite the pivot screw when reassembling?
@@joshuwahberg4178 I didn’t try that, but from what i can see it’s not the screw. It appears to be the lock bar. It’s almost like it doesn’t push over enough on open. If I open the knife and then manually move the lock bar to the right more lockup is rock solid

@@knifeinfluenza that was such an old photo hahah 8 year old photo, but yeah I mean it could easily be titanium, but it could also be aluminum at this price since it’s a budget knife. Aluminum is cheaper than titanium. Only Miguran can tell us what it is though.
