Well, your wish is possibly being granted after a year my friend. Bring Our Birds Home is raising funds to bring all of ANZ's classic aircraft back to NZ to be kept in a museum looking nice and shiny with their classic colours. These aircraft include a Lockheed Electra, a DC-8, a DC-10, a 737-200 and a 747-400.
People arrive and departure, they may have a bad or good nature, but our queen of the sky is always trustable. It is not dead, it is not gone. It’s still with us, she is in all of you that loves the 747, it is also still in the pilot's heart. The queen may be physically gone, but mentally still with us. She might be old, but her inside is prettier than any new Thank you, queen, you served us well, and we will miss you
747's are getting retired, but their name is still being remembered. I am certain nothing in this world is able to replace this beauty, how her large flight deck instrument is out, how her large wings produce lift as she soar through the skies, she is not able to be replaced. If airliners thought about passenger's feeling rather than profit, they will keep this lovely. from the young girl when she first entered, to today's beauty queen, she ruled the skies for 33 years, viewed 77 billion miles below her. She was beautiful, and she will stay beautiful for ever.
Whenever I fly, I always try to find a flight that uses a 747, won't be able to do that from Auckland now. She's a beautiful, elegant aircraft. The departure of the Queen from the Air NZ ranks was a very sad day for many people, and not just enthusiasts like me who absolutely love this aircraft, but for a lot of people who have ever flown on one. I think it's a real shame Air NZ decided to switch their long haul to a 777 only fleet. I think one or two 747-8 Intercontinentals would have been great to see and they would certainly have looked awesome carrying the Koru wherever they went...
I have many great memories flying on the Air NZ 747's!!! Service par excellence !!!I cant thank you enough Air New Zealand for taking me to the United Kingdom to see the great country my Mum and Dad come from !!!
having lived in the UK for most of the 90's spent a bit of time on NZ001 & NZ002 via LAX, she was a true beauty. Loved the old teal livery too always made us smile when we got to gatwick or heathrow. Yes, we are old enough to remember Air NZ being based at Gatwick too before the move to LHR
I cannot explain it but the 747 has always just made me stop dead in my tracks and stare in awe at it.... It is beyond a doubt the most beautiful plane to ever fly and just the sight of one gives me goose bumps and makes me tingle with joy. I see an A380 and it doesn't do anything for me... It just looks likes a deacying bloated whale carcass on a beach but the 747.... well it's just drop dead sexy. A few years ago I had the honour of sitting at the controls while in flight of a 747 that was enroute for decommissioning and I was floored with just how powerful she was and just how easy she was to fly and how she handled like a Jaguar.... not a sports car, but her power, responsiveness and agility was ultra refined and a definite cut above everything commercial. I'm always very sad to see another one of the true original pioneers get put out to pasture. What's even sadder is Boeing has even stated the 747 is quickly reaching it's end even within her own stable. Even though it was for only about 45 minutes, I feel special to have had to opportunity to be a part of the club, so to say, of pilots who have sat at the controls and manually flown this majestic plane.
There was no pressing need to retire them. The Boeing 747-400 is a great long haul aircraft - I think that Air NZ will regret their decision further down the road.
Air New Zealand 747- 400's "Queenstown", "Christchurch" ,"Wellington", "Dunedin", and "Auckland" are the very planes that took me from Auckland ,New Zealand to the country that gave me my parents the United Kingdomon many occasions.Thanking you for the past now that we move to the future, Thank you so much Air New Zealand !!
This video made me cry caio, CRYYYYYYYY. Becuase you know I am a aeroplane enthusiast as well as nathenial who watched the video like I did and a tear came through both our eyes.
Aotea Tainui Tearawa Tokomaru ...They are nostalgic. When starting the engines at the same time as QF's 747 and CX's L-1011, those RB211s would roar over 10 times.
Ever since 1981, these beautiful manufacturing icons have been climbing under the Air New Zealand livery, they helped the airline gain for what it is today, the Queen of the skies sets off to a journey of which it will never return, 𝐺𝑜𝑜𝑑𝑏𝑦𝑒, 𝑄𝑢𝑒𝑒𝑛.
It is sad to see them leaving the fleet but understanding the newer and efficient aircraft now available and the fleet revitalization that Air New Zealand has under taken is impressive.
Great Videos and rendition... but I don't see a video of the flight departure from SFO... service during the flight... landing inside of the plane... and I don't see "water cannons" for farewell either... it's a sad moment... The Queen of The Skies" has been with some generations as the "Jumbo Jet"..until the ugly 380 is trying to replace it.. but thanks God there is 747-8i..Gorgeous plane...and 777 and 787-9...
Very sad flew on them many times and loved every minute especially upstairs. Was flying on the DC8 freighter MELB AKL one day and was called to the flight deck to see inbound 747 crossing 1 km away. Where is your camera when you need It? An iconic plane and always great staff
My fav plane, I still fly with the 747 800 that Lufthansa has from Frankfurt to Buenos Aires, love that plane to pieces =) I refuse to fly the 380, too much people, some airports aren't even ready to handle that amount of passengers; The Dreamliner its a good option, the 350 as well. But this is my humble opinions not being an expert, just from the view of a passenger.
i know the 747 was old,but it was such a exchange giant plane for a 787 that is smaller in size,747 flew to londonso the 787 wont have enough power to fly there.
The ANZ London 'direct' flights stopped in LA. So as far as range goes, the 747 wasn't doing anything the 787s or 777s can't do. But I miss the Queen none the less.
So yeah, I cried. This will forever be the most beautiful aircraft of all times.
same i cried too
Please bring one back please......... like if agree
They should bring it back
Bradley White yes atlesst do a super final flight

True they should buy some 747-8
One 747-8 in the all black livery. And the 2nd in the black and white would look amazing
+Matt Gibby oh amazing
What? Air NZ never had A380's. Have you been drinking lately?
Owen Mitchell I never got the chance to fly on one :(
My Dad worked for Air New Zealand. The 747s were legendary
This clip is a great way to send the incomparable Boeing 747 off in style. THANK YOU FOR YOUR FINE JOB B747.
1:10 beautiful landing!
good bye queen of the skies, good bye legend of the skies :')
Beautiful and sad Video. In November I'm on the last MD-11 Pax Flight (KLM) in history. Also very sad :-(
Farewell 747 you are indeed the Queen of the Skies. Glad I got to fly on one a few times :-)
I TRAVELED NUMEROUS TIMES ON ANZ 747 IN THE 80S AND 90S. GREAT AIRLINE. I TRULY LOVE THE BEAUTIFUL BIRD THAT IS KNOWN AS QUEEN OF THE SKIES.
Thank you for flying my grandmother to her destinations safely ❤ Queen of the skies

Watching that air plane land is so unbelievably graceful and soothing.
747 will hold a place in my heart ❤️
Bye 747. (He says crying). ):
Who is watching this in 2024 seeing the queen of skies retire world wide from public transport😭 farewell!
Almost shed a tear! Farewell fair maiden!
It's gone, but not forgotten. Farewell queen of the skies.
Who’s the king then
The king was the Concorde and nothing will ever change that.

They should purchase the 747-8i, that is more fuel efficient and has farther range etc.

I have found memories of flying Air NZ B747s in the 1980s
Please get a 747-8I, at least one.
Can't agree more. There's mo much difference between -400 and -8 so it won't take so long to retrain pilots.
Air NZ chose the 777 because it is much cheaper to run and better for the environment (something Air NZ is very passionate about).
This video made me cry caio, CRYYYYYYYY. Becuase you know I am a aeroplane enthusiast as well as nathenial who watched the video like I did and a tear came through both our eyes.
lol, you can't just buy one aircraft of that scale. Not worth the price and it won't work for routing
The_ALEX_ELLIS_Channel and the 747 is really a freight type aircraft so the A380 is more naturally aspirated for a double decker.
R.I.P 747 I will still think of you
Always a welcome visitor to LAX when operating Auckland-LAX-London and the return.
nice- the video, the plane and the music
Farewell Qween of the skies we will miss you
Please get a 747 now❤❤❤❤❤
I wish it was in a museum

Well now all 747-8's are expiring, referred as the "Queen of the skies"(which's sad) are being replaced with A380ies referred as "King of the skies".
I loved the 747... Snif...

Goodbye, and thank you!
I Cried Watching This Because of the music. Also because of the 747 exiting the fleet. May you fly in peace :'(
Please get new 747's!
There's no demand for it as the 777 and 787 are doing are much better job. But air NZ might be getting some A350's
