From experience, that's not a genuine laugh. That's a warning laugh. The "haha, I'm laughing so nobody takes you seriously when you're talking about how I treat you when the cameras are off but you'd better shut up and not say anything worse or having your bed taken away will be the least of your worries." laugh.

also you can hear Chad's siblings laughing especially Shari talking the background she was Mummy and Daddys favourite child. But she had to look after all the kids when her parents were abroad when Covid struck and her parents were abroad do people not remember that!! Hope that comes up and the kids are able to tell the truth about how they were all treated and nobody protected them.

There's only so much that can be done when there's no concrete evidence, the kids won't talk, and the parents pull them out of school and isolate them from everyone.

according to Ruby's family they had complained to the authorities many times as did lots of her neighbours and Jodi's neighbours. She should have been confronted are these people afraid of Ruby, Jodi and of course Kevin who was there and involved sending poor Chad into the wilderness for a prank on his little brother.

    • @celestric
      @celestric ปีที่แล้ว +4

The extended family tried to help. The sisters called authorities multiple times. No one should blame them; they actually tried to help. They can’t just kidnap the kids. The therapist was Jodi. So imo the people who failed them are their parents, Jodi, and law enforcement (including CPS). The school likely had no idea what was going on. They don’t seem like the type to talk to the school about the abuse since they likely don’t know they’re being abused. Honestly so many people tried to help. It’s just that our law enforcement fucking failed them. So i believe the core of the problem are the abusers and law enforcement. Also they pulled them out of school after Shari left. I feel like they likely enjoyed school considering how they were being treated back home. And LDS is definitely a problem, but I think everyone already knows that.

There apparently were tens of thousands of people complaining to the authorities about Abuse for years. If that is what she was showing during filming , we can all imagine what happened off camera.
I think they have been protected by powerful people in the LDS for a long time. What’s bizarre the boy lost his room for playing the same prank Ruby did years ago when Russell was a baby. I guess she had filmed that prank since so many knew about it. I never heard of her until this. So I never saw it. But it’s ok for Ruby to do it but not her son?
I am willing to bet the school was on to Ruby as she was the ultimate Karen complaining about everything. Ruby pulled the two youngest ones out to homeschool them, which we all know how that ended.

As the scapegoat daughter of a malignant narcissist mother, one of the reasons why a child may withdraw from their friends is embarrassment. I had to come in half an hour before every other child that I knew - it doesn't sound like a lot but it was enough to "other" me. It went on into my teens - youth club finished at 10:00 pm but I had to leave at 9:30 even though my father was picking me up - eventually it was easier not to go at all rather than always be the odd one out.

I'm so happy the teachers are more aware of the children's needs now. I remember being yelled at so much when I was 12-13 and was falling asleep in class. The problem was that the baby in the appartement above us was crying all night and I had a light sleep, so I was woken up multiple times a night for months. Apparently, not sleeping enough wasn't a good excuse. I remember a teacher even got angry at me for yawning and told me "Excuse me, am I boring to you? No? Than what is your problem yawning?"... When LDS children start going to school with non-church members some start questioning what they are taught. These children are then labeled defiant or troubled teens. If the parents or church cannot get them back under control they are put into troubled children’s schools/camps etc. Now I have lived all over the USA and I have never seen anything like this. You do not have to have any formal training to work at any of these type places. No background checks, no finger printing, no schooling etc. These children are tortured and abused even more than what they experience at home. Many commit suicide. When outside media gets involved the state will shut them down but they pop right back up under another name and owner. It is incredible how they get away with this. Police when called will tell you the parents have the right to punish their child however they see fit. School teachers and school administrators when confided in are supposed to alert DCFS/CPS but don’t as they are usually friends with these parents through their Ward. They instead tell the parent EXACTLY what they have been told and make it severely worse for the child (ren). Shari the oldest daughter said she had tried for years to get DCFS to do something but they never would. Siting that they Insufficient evidence. When a small child cannot communicate they will do nothing. Even though there is physical evidence to support the claim.
Utah especially Southern Utah is very messed up. It is not about what the parents do but more about WHO THEY KNOW

I am a teacher from the same state (Utah) and of the same religion as Ruby Franke. My reaction when I heard about this case was outrage toward all of the adults and embarrassment toward Child Protective Services in my state for not protecting those kids. It sounds like multiple neighbors (and i hope teachers) had made calls to report suspected CA, and nothing resulted of their concerns. If i was a Kindergarten teacher and one of my student's parents didn't at least put money in their child's account when they didnt have a lunch, I would be calling CPS and I would be buying a lunch for that poor baby.
Additionally: in the state of Utah, teachers are included in the category of "mandated," reporters. If you become aware of potential CA you have to make a report to either CPS or police. I hope the teachers reported this awful mother and her equally guilty husband for neglect at the very least. I find this entire situation disgusting.

The youngest two kids (found at Jodi's) were definitely not going to school (their school started classes mid-August) -- and it's like five hours from Jodi's house. The middle two girls were found in American Fork, which is where their conservative Mormon school is located. They were reportedly safe, but not with family. Chad was kicked out of that same school, but I believe Shari graduated from the same school and is now she's at BYU. How she's managing school and this stuff is beyond me. Hope she's taking time off or fewer classes. No one seems to know where Chad is. I'm pretty sure he never even graduated high school.

These children never stood a chance. They attended schools with other Mormons and even the university being cited where the eldest daughter is meant to be attended is Mormon. And in their state, you're going to find Mormons in the police department, in child services, pretty much everywhere. And though they might not all be in the same league as Ruby or Jody, they are all going to sing from the same hymn book. There's no escape from this high-demand 'religion'. Jody reported counselling sessions of individuals to the Mormon bishop and the university, ruining peoples' lives for years. What's coming out of this case is horrific to thousands, if not millions, of people.

They stopped going to the private school in 2020. 2020-21 Chad went to public high school, Shari went back to the private school, the rest were homeschooled. 2021-22 they all went back to public school/charter school. The end of that school year is when Ruby and Kevin went off the deep end. 2022-23 they disappeared from the internet, but we can assume the younger kids were kept out of school. I am 2 years older, but we were playmates all through elementary school, and acquaintances all the way through high school. I wanted to comment on Ruby accusing her child of SA and stating they first came in contact with porn at the age of 3. One thing to keep in mind is that Ruby is very orthodox, and I believe has a very skewed idea of what porn even is, and also, while I absolutely agree that Ruby is guilty of what happened to her children, I also believe that she was very much a victim of her sham of a therapist/business partner, Jodi Hildebrandt. If you haven't seen it, there were two recent interviews done on Mormon Stories Podcast, one with Jodi's niece, and the other with a boy scout SA whistleblower, both of room received "therapy" from Jodi that was unethical, abusive, inappropriate, etc. I do not believe Ruby's child is guilty of SA, nor do i believe they are sex addicts or that it started with viewing porn at age 3. Ruby & Kevin removed the kids from school & were homeschooling them. Viewers suspected it was because teachers were in fact reporting things. There was a history of Ruby being problematic, such as refusing to bring in a lunch for her 5 year old, telling the teacher who called that the child was in fact responsible for packing her own lunch & she "told me she had" & told the teacher "the natural outcome is that she's going to have to go hungry & I hope no one steps in & gives her good" she also had a fit about a school approved Tik Tok dance for PE class & she ctied & spun out of control on TH-cam over it. There are videos documenting both situations & just imagine the things we don't know about. I am wondering about the ethics of the press (it was the Daily Mail so the ethics may not be great) reporting court details of claims of children SAing other children, whether they turn out to be true or not, and even if they did not name the children. Remember that their definition of pornography is “whatever turns you on” and Jodie’s main business was in sexual addiction recovery, where if you masturbated once a month you were a sexual addict. No one seems to comment on the fact that Chad plays this fairly cruel prank on his little brother, and where he may have learned that being cruel gives him power? His parents taught him that. The children have no power at all in that house. No privacy , no friends, no way to communicate with friends even if they had them. And while i do feel that pulling a cruel prank on his brother should deserve some sort of consequence, taking his private space, his autonomy, and his ability to just be himself, is never ok, and not remotely related to the offense.
The other fact that Ruby brings up about the BB gun, is also concerning on several levels, but its the same exact response to having no control or power, IMO. Chad is maybe 17 at this point. He has no friends, no control, and maybe in his mind, having control over his little brother is not that surprising.

The clip of him saying he got kicked out of school and was doing poorly is very telling. He almost seems manic. As if he doesn't care, OR that he feels rebellious and somewhat powerful at how pissed off he has made his parents. To kids, all attention is good attention. @j.w8680 ปีที่แล้ว

You're not waffly, it was all very relevant and astute observations. I saw the same snippets of videos, not having ever watched their family channel, since this all blew up on the news, & even I could see that several of the kids looked VERY sleep-deprived. All of them looked slim/ too skinny, but the two youngest, especially, looked malnourished to me...
You're right, that the punishments all seemed very vague /random and seem more to do with Ruby's need to have complete authority/control over their entire lives, than having any real 'value' /lesson they were teaching their kids.
I know now a lot of other channels have criticised those closest to them, but I think that it is easy to judge someone else's involvement/not in any given case. What IS clear to me, as a mother myself, is that the abuse was obvious even just from the videos, & given the issue was apparently & allegedly brought to the attention, repeatedly, to social services & local police from neighbours, viewers & at least one sister, the neice of Jody (re. her OWN related abuse...) and the fact that Shery(?) now claims to ALSO have alerted authorities to issues within the family unit shows the EXTENT of the attempts to draw this all to the attention of outside forces, apparently to no avail...
It breaks my heart what all these children went through, & you're right, their increasing abuse, the increasing severity of punishments meted out to the children and them being fairly isolated, to then be taken out of school...ALL of this, & those incidences with the school lunches, painted a much broader picture that was rather worrying at best, alarming at worst. We all now know the truth, for them, was in fact far worse than any reasonable person could have imagined...
I have tried hard not to blame the father for being away for more than a year, but given he is their father, given BEFORE THAT he was too often on camera CONDONING much of the more dubious/harsh punishments, like the camp they sent the poor eldest son to... I know he (Kevin) has put out statements - much like the sisters', claiming utter ignorance, yet even much of the public knew that you could see the damage being done from some of the harsher rules that were implemented. It is clear to me that some of these individuals know more than is being admitted to, and that Kevin, as their father, REGARDLESS of what his controlling wife was TELLING HIM what he needed to do to 'save their marraige', as their father should not have ACCEPTED such terms, but been suspicious & should at some point have checked up on his children's welfare. My children are both adults now, but EVEN if they were a little estranged I would, out of love, TRY to keep up attempts at SOME contact with them, because no one can replace a parent & it is his (Kevin's) absence that allowed a lot of what happened to take place WITHOUT proper scrutiny or questions being put /asked by others concerned about her methods.
I think the school's position is a difficult one. As is the neighbours' if they had indeed tried to reach out to police/social services - there is little you can do without outright proof of wrong-doing,
It struck me just from watching the limited videos I have, that
the problem was more widespread then just an isolated problem in Ruby's immediate family.

“Hello and welcome to another video where I become angry @Ruby Franke”😂😂 sorry I laughed way too hard😮
Having been watching “true crime” videos for a long time now, specifically having to do with children /parents/adults hurting children, I have seen teachers and other adults repeatedly report abuse…and no one listens until the children are either severely hurt or just gone😢 so reporting is great, getting someone to do something about it is a whole other “story😢😢😢😢😢

I know they ended up being homeschooled, but as I said, I'm unaware of the exact time this clip was made but my understanding was at this point they were still at school

I talk 6.5 hours a day for a living. Force of habit I guess? But I also have a lot to say on the subject, so I hope you didn't suffer too much!
