Dragon Cry is the only song produced by Tony Visconti. It's a song that Misa mother, who raised her to rock lovers, said that BAND MAID finally became a real rock band. It's not the lyrics they wrote, but it's a song that looks at the future of the earth and the present society.

The familiarity of this song might be based on *The Dragon Cries* was a collaboration with the *Tony Visconti* who also worked with artist like *David Bowie* this would be their second track that had all English lyrics.

I really hope B-M upload the live version of this to their channel. Live at Shibuya it's awesome. The over compression of the Studio version creates a blur of sound :)

@@Mikupigeon It's personal preference but I think the instruments individually come thru clearer in the live version :)

Just another reason why The Maids are considered 1 of the best bands in the world. The guitar theme is heavily Hendrix. It is a heavy musically and lyrically driven song. This Visconti production magic mix peaks with that final extended Dragon Flies Saiki note. Production plays a huge part in this band's success. It's done to perfection and with the diversity in the compositions well it means everything. The Dragon cries but this Maidiac just damn well admires.

The thing is, I don't know where to start.
Real Existence, Moratorium, Matchless Gum, Awkward are some of the greats from earlier days. And of course checking out Onset is a must if you haven't done it yet.
I like how you always listen to music intently while reacting.
Unseen World album shows their more progressive side, although I think ''Wonderland'' sounds a bit progressive, too.

When they played in NYC they posted a picture of them with some old guy in a Band-Maid T-shirt and everybody said who the hell is that? Later on we all found out it was Tony Visconti.

Powerful song and video. Kanami is playing that groovy keyboard. She's a world class pianist on top of being a guitar Goddess and incredible composer. Thanks man. 😊😎🤘🤘

Familiar? Probably because it feels like it's inspired by the Willie Dixon school of blues that nearly everybody from Led Zeppelin to Violent Femmes have cribbed or outright stole from. Especially the structure of the lyrics (which were written for the maids). Wonderful song.

Glad you reacted to this song. I love the song, esp as it shows the band's versatility and ability to find musical inspiration in whatever they appear to find interesting at the time. The song received a lot of heat by fans when it first came out, mainly due to complaints of overcompression (sadly agree) and, to a lesser degree, of the music video being too bleak and hopeless (the song's attempt to end on a hopeful note is not emphasized). It's a unique song for various reasons (for example, the English lyrics were not written by the band, the song is sung in English, and the song itself was a one-off produced by legendary producer Tony Visconti) - but for me it displays yet again the mind-blowing musicality of the band. (The instrumental breakdown in the song is special.) According to Kanami, Mr. Visconti liked the original composition immediately and nothing was really changed musically. When you consider that a song as stylistically different as Page (and Bubble and Rinne) was written for the same album, you realize how talented musically all the members need to be to pull it off. (Which may be a hint to go listen to Page. :) Page, btw, is a song that Kanami wrote to be played at weddings, iirc.)

Dragons, a poignant commentary of the crappy, current state of the world, is a great plunge into the bluesy rock style given to us by Hendrix and others. Heard live (and without the overly compressed mix), the song jumps from the souls of the members and into our minds as a warning. Let's all heed that warning! Thx, Todd!

I like this song, but not the video much. Not the usual upbeat, happy song from Band Maid. I get the meaning, and the live version is much better without the backing video message. I know the artists have the levity to express their concerns over the demise of the planet, and I don't want to take that away from them. Very American sounding, I would guess due to the American producer. Not the usual type of song from these ladies, but again, they show another side to their music.

I love the song but hate the mix/production. It stands out like a sore thumb next to everything else on the album. So heavy handed with reverb and compression it just loses all the ‘oomph’. They did it live with their normal sound and it was WAY better.
