- Rick Steves' Europe © 2023 | The Romans gave Europe its first taste of a common culture-and awe-inspiring art. From its groundbreaking architecture to its statues, mosaics, and frescos, Rome engineered bigger and better than anyone before. At its peak, the Roman Empire was a society of unprecedented luxury, with colossal arenas for entertaining the masses and giant monuments to egotistical emperors. And then it fell. Best series on television, Rick Steves is a treasure
Ricks pierce of art about Rome.
A delight to watch, enjoy and learn. ✅
Ancient Rome...great art and architecture and Rick Steves...doesn't get better than that
I learned more from Rick Steves in an hour, then I ever did in school.
How often do you think Rick Steves thinks about the Roman Empire?
He thinks about how he can best present the Roman Empire’s greatness everyday probably. And whenever he does present the Roman Empire, he knocks it out the park!
Probably as often as he thinks of you, after he finishes a very interesting a beautiful program about Roman art and moves on to other wonderful presentations.
While he's there and before their shoot.

Missing the iconic intro music but loving the content! I got comfortable in my recliner with a cup of coffee to get enriched by some Roman history and fine art!❤

Fantastic. I have managed to visit these wonderful places. Loved the colonnades taken from the baths of Caracalla. In the Church Santa Maria Trastevere. Rome is a wonderful place.
Amazing art of the Roman Empire. Greetings from Switzerland.
luv the Etruscans
The background music of the earlier videos was better than the current one. The previous one was fascinating yet calming.
EUROPES HISTORY, IS HISTORICAL! TO SAY THE LEAST, ALSO DEEP IN HISTORICITY !
It is very interesting in snow. It is beautiful. I went to Hikone Higashi high school and castle and Genkyuen very well. All scenery is very different in snow.
New Rick Steves?? My morning breakfast rituals just got so much better!
Excellent video.
Great Rome and Faras ( Iran up to Uzbekistan etc were conquered at the time when islam spread .
Mr Steve makes great informative videos ....
wow
The Colosseum has Greek ornaments (the columns) but the structure is entirely Roman or, to put it better, Etruscan: the arch (or rather, the arches).
Problem one of the best channels on YT. Been subscribed for years. Delighted there's new videos out.
My biggest quibble is that he mixes up the fall of the western empire with the fall of the Roman Empire. The Roman Empire continued until 1453 in the east.
👍🏻
Marcus Aurelius egotistical? If you had picked Nero, Caligula, or Commodus, I would agree…
Honestly I’ve found this completely disappointing, I expected an understanding of classicism and it hasn’t presented itself yet a third through ….
Constantine eventually realized that that the worship of a myriad of gods and religions led to a fragmentation of social cohesion
"a society of unprecedented Luxury"
Does everyone clear out when Steves shows up? 🤔
The statue of the sitting boxer is Greek though, not Roman.
The world nowadays aren't match today..
Our ancestors had technology we dont have today. We cannot recreate the beauty they made
Yes we do have lol
@@miklu26 Yeah, and we can.
