Having a butler is absolutely worth it. I just got back from Barbados and had three butlers on the team. I did not tip daily but I gave a significant tip to all three on the second day. That way they knew they were getting a tip. I’m not sure if that got us any better service but they worked hard the entire trip. They were well worth any extra cost and they earned our respect and were tipped accordingly. So anywhere from $25 to $50 a day is a good range for that type of service.

We ask what our butler's schedule's are and tip per shift, because usually one butler is your primary and will by far provide the most service during your stay.

In regards to the way to tip your butlers. I always ask them at the very beginning of our stay which way that they want to be tipped. Most want cash of course but the same three butlers we always use at the Grand St. Lucian resort rather have us charge the tips to our credit card. So I suggest just ask your butlers in the beginning of your stay.

We just booked a butler suite at Regency La Toc in St Lucia for our honeymoon this year and your video was vey helpful. Thank you.
I've always brought a lot of singles and fives w/ me on vacations because I knew we'd get a little pep in the step or a more focused eye from employees. What time of day would you recommend giving the butler(s) the tip? First greeting in the AM, after a day task completed or before bed PM?

I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I generally tip at the end of the day.
I hope you have a great honeymoon! Be sure to get your free honeymoon package and free candlelight dinner!

Spa personnel should also be tipped.

The room that comes with a Butler costs so much more money than even a very nice room without. In my case, we booked a beachfront club level room. It was fairly expensive. The room with the butler was more than double the cost. Over $1,000 more per day. While tipping a butler for $25 a day seems so low and quite reasonable, to pay an extra $1000/day just to have access to a butler seems excessive. Would you say that the butler service is worth $1,000/day? Will we have a good time without a butler?

A butler level room should not be double the cost of a beachfront club level room. Not even close. You should be looking at anywhere from a few hundred dollars more to maybe $1,000 more total (not per day)
You should have a lovely time even without the butler.

@@travelprochristine Thanks, but it could be the availability I guess. Once I read all the rave reviews of having a Butler, we wanted one. Our room for 6 nights is $7,700.00 total. To upgrade to a room with a Butler would cost $7,800 more! So a bit more than double. This is at the Grande in St. Lucia. Glad to know the time will be ok without a butler. But for $1,000 more for the week and a $25.00 tip per day, I'd for sure want a Butler.

    $60/day seems like a lot! 3 butlers a day x $20 x 7 (days) = $420!

You generally have two butlers per day and $20 is the norm. Many people tip more. For what the butlers do, it’s more than well-deserved and just needs to be figured into the vacation budget.

I agree. I will leave $40. Per day. Regardless of how many butlers. Also, the FB Sandals page I follow recommended to tip at the end of the trip.

Ok, if you are as fortunate as you and I are to have a butler, I think the gentleman should get an amazing tip. To say tipping $420 for the entire stay seems like a lot, well…you probably shouldn’t get a room with a butler that does pretty much everything but wipe your butt. There are some motels near the airport which might be a better fit for you?

Excuse ma’am are you serious when you said $25 usd per day? And you expect to have top notch service?

    • @travelprochristine
      @travelprochristine  หลายเดือนก่อน

Yup. $25 per day is the recommended amount and, yes, I get top notch service every time.
If the service is amazing, I add more.
