    I came across July about 8 years ago and was floored as to the quality of the songs, sound and production of the album. Amazed that album didnt fly high on the ability of its own merits.

      I know right? The production is amazing! I often wonder why many of these bands didn’t make a bigger splash back when these records were released! I may have to some research as to why some of these bands just fell into obscurity! Thanks Michael! Peace ✌️👽

      Hey B!! Yeah we kinda screwed ourselves by using that Gun music clip as YT decided to shut us down so we had to remove it. That’ll screw us up in the algorithm Ugh! Oh well hopefully the video will be carried by the great album content!
      Glad you got in to see the vid before it was taken down! The Perch warned me about all these clips could cause us issues with YT but as always I ignored his sage words.
      Some great stuff to dig into here B! You can’t go wrong with any of these records!
      That Jimi LP is one I’ve had in the collection since I was in high school. Such a great album!

    Hey Brian, what a great list! Even the ones you showed before you got to the top 20 are fantastic. July is just mind blowing, and the End is awesome. Blossom Toes gives off a Piper at the Gates kinda vibe. I have the US version of the Idle Race LP, great stuff, and you are correct in the fact that some songs sound like early ELO. I have a weird Soft Machine comp of their first 2 albums, and would like to get them separately. I remember seeing Crazy World of Arthur Brown on Ed Sullivan, with flaming helmet, Ed looked a bit nervous! Love that Art album, every song a gem! Deviants Rule! You're right, Disposable isn't shown as much as their other two, but it's just as good. Emerlist Davjack is my favorite Nice album, that opening track, Flower King of Flies is a great psych song. I have yet to listen to Horse, first one you showed that I don't have! Odessy and Oracle is classic! Open Mind's Magic Potion is such a great track. I need to pull out Pussy and play it! Thanks for the mention with the Five Day Week LP, another band John Ducann was in was the Attack, a great psych band that released only singles, but there is a comp available. Gun is a great album, as is their second album, Gunsight. I have the same RSD press of that Tomorrow album, love it. Just picked up a copy of SF Sorrow with the UK cover, incredible album. The Pink Fairies song, Heavenly Man sounds a bit like Bowie's Space Oddity. I'm having a hard time finding that Archazel LP, there's no US sellers for that on Discogs or Ebay, my only hope is that it turns up at one of the stores I frequent. Ogden's is the Small Faces' psychedelic masterpiece! Thanks for blowing my mind with this far out and groovy selection of British psych!🥴😵😵‍💫

    • @cosmicvinyl2937
      @cosmicvinyl2937  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Wow! Now that’s a comment! Lots to digest! Ok here goes!
      Yeah these albums are among my faves! The Brit’s were great at embracing the Psychedelic Culture and man they had some killer bands!
      I was mostly surprised at how much I could hear the early inklings of ELO on that Idle Race LP! For some reason that blows my mind!
      I’m still kinda getting acquainted with that Blossom Toes LP I’ve only spun like 3 times but I love it! And you’re right, there is a Piper at the Gates vibe!
      Dude Ed Sullivan ruled his show with the hammer of censorship making bands tone down their lyrics like the Stones & the Doors and others So you can imagine the fear Ed had as Arthur Brown took the stage in his make up and Flaming helmet! He was probably pissing himself thinking he may go homicidal and sacrifice a virgin onstage! LoL I love that Ed was uncomfortable!
      One of the albums I was really surprised at how good it was after listening to it before the video was The Nice! I had forgotten how good it was!
      Dude the Open Minds Magic Potion is such a blazer! Kind of a heavy groove and the lyrical content is so epic!
      Man I’m still trying to hunt down the rest of the albums I know that John DuCann played on Hard Stuff’s 1st album, The Attack, and especially Andromeda! I’m also still looking for Atomic Rooster’s album with the giant cock (rooster) on the front! LoL!
      Alright my thumbs hurt from typing Haha! Thanks for tuning in and thanks for the awesome comment! I think I’m nearly caught up on your vids I fell way behind on my VC vids! Peace Brother! ✌️👽

    Great picks as always Cos. For a small island area, the U.K. is overloaded with musical talent, the finest bands produced in the 60's and 70's. Hell you did not even have to mention Pink Floyd, Cream or Deep Purple! So many in bullets in the belt, its hard to choose. I would ad Caravan's (best known for their 3rd album 1970's In The Land Of Grey And Pink) first album (S.T. 1968)as a psych classic. Throw in The Edgar Broughton Band's first album "Wasa Wasa" and Status Quo's first 'Pictures Of Matchstick Men followed by some Traffic with "Mr. Fantasy" and Nektar's "Journey To The Centre Of The Eye". Obscure U.K. psych is where its at for me, groups you mentioned like July and Horse as well as Sam Gopal on an earlier show. Having shared the sacred herb backstage with Hawkwind on a number of occasions, they have a special place in my collection. Anything Hawkwind is classic psych to me.

    • @cosmicvinyl2937
      @cosmicvinyl2937  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wow! You smoked up with Hawkwind? Dude you are truly a legend! And I totally agree the Brits did psych and hard rock up right! I would almost say that the US bands were outmatched by their contemporaries across the pond! There were so many other bands I could have added to this roster but it’s so hard to narrow down to even 20-25! And some of those bands you mentioned I’m still looking for like Edgar Broughton, Caravan, Hell I don’t even have the Traffic LP! What’s wrong with me?! I do have the Nektar and Status Quo tho! Appreciate the bands you added and I am on the hunt! Thanks Dan! Peace ✌️👽

      @@cosmicvinyl2937 Way back in 1989-1995 Hawkwind played Toronto four times , I got backstage three times and by 1995 Dave Brock would only let my homemade Hawkwind silk screened wall hanging backstage to be signed by a new member. In 1989 Alan Davey the bass player got really high on some great weed I had. That time he forgot his bass when he went on stage (he was opening playing some keyboard when he realized he forgot his bass, he had left it in the change room) Dave Brock warned him that weed in Canada was a lot stronger than they were used to at home. Dave did not have any, he just sipped on a cup of tea like a true Englishman. Harvey Bainbridge (keyboards) had a puff or two. We smoked black hash the next two shows in 1990 and 1991 . 1995 was their last visit and only my poster got backstage that year, Dave had had enough of the guys getting high before the show. I also smoked hash with Motorhead ( after the show with guitarist Wurzel and drummer Pete Gill (Saxons drummer, but with Motorhead for a spell) back in 1986 and shared one of those large wax coated coke cups full of Jack Daniels and coke with Lemmy while watching Alice Cooper sidestage in Maple Leaf Gardens in 1988. I first met Lemmy in 1981 with our handmade silksceen wall hangings as the in. I was backstage at eight Toronto Motorhead shows 1981-1995. Check out the live shows on you tube of Canadian punkers The Forgotten Rebels and you will see the large silkscreen Confederate battle flag backdrop we ( my girlfriend at the time was the artist) made for them.

    Oh Cosmic One we meet again on the super information highway! I have a copy of that July record. It's amazing. Apparently it's the favourite album of the dude from the UK band The Horrors. Their albums Primary Colours & Skying are mind blowing. Listen to the track Sea Within A Sea to get the vibe. Always keep it fresh man. As a viewer it's always good to see stuff on the outer rim of the Cosmic Realm.
    Jeff Lynne sans beard & shade...woah! I need to get some Soft Machine on vinyl to get aurally stoned to the be-jeebuzz. Imagine seeing Arthur Brown back in the day, coming from the roof with his head on fire while singing Fire. Who needs drugs with shit like that!! Supernatural Fairytales looked like a picture disc at first. Every time you show the Deviants it hurts a little, because the only time I see their stuff it's stoopid expensive. Did the Nice name themselves after The Small Faces song Here Come The Nice? I just ordered a Horse record from Noble Records! Gotta have the Zombies. I like the stuff previous to Odyssey too. Head Machine looks cool. So their records all about roosters? 😂Open Mind are brilliant. Pussy as well. Hmmm what are ya trying to tell us Cosmic One? Velvet Fogg painting their faces, I think were just trying to think of a way to get girls to get the ya ya's out. Gun has a groovy cover dude. Tomorrow is amazing. First heard them on the Nuggets II CD box set. I love those two Pretty Things albums, but the earlier garage rock stuff absolutely rips. First heard Pink Fairies from the Rollins Band cover. Jimi!!! Wind Cries Mary gets me every time. I saw you show Arzechel ages ago & I'm still searchin' for it! Small Faces are one of the best UK bands ever! Lazy Sunday Afternoon is my favourite SF song & There Are But Four Small Faces is my favourite album. That was a solid list man. Cheers....Ben from a future time zone! 😎😎🥁🥁🎂🎂🤘🤘🎸🎸🦍🦍✨✨👹👹🍾🍾🤪🤪

      Hey Ben! Hell to the yeah! Man the Brits really embraced the Psychedelic culture and some of the greatest trippers came out of England They def knew how to make killer RnR!
      Yeah it’s strange to see Jeff Lynne with his so fair and not a single hint of the look he would embrace later! Well except for his curly fro! The surprise listening to Idle Race was you can actually hear the sound that would become ELO’s signature years later!
      I have to talk about Arthur Brown So I was chatting with Michael from Near Wild Heaven and we’re discussing AB’s appearance on the Ed Sullivan show. You know how Ed was always so paranoid that these alternative type groups were going to come onstage and say or do something screwy that would violate the rules He had bands censoring their music and watering down their lyrics So I imagine when he seen AB take the stage in this make up and flaming helmet singing Fire he was pissing his pants with fear! He probably thought AB would go into a satanic ritual and sacrifice a virgin onstage! I’m glad Ed was scared! F*ck him! LoL!
      Dude I think I seen some fairly recent footage of Arthur Brown onstage still rocking his torch head!
      Are you telling me I should check out The Horrors? Becuz they sound epic! Def gonna get with the program and heed your recommendation!
      Alright my thumbs are tired so I must end this madness! Thanks Big Ben! Peace ✌️👽

    Hey man. I'm in mourning after attending the Ohio State vs Michigan game yesterday, What a shit show. Major depression setting in. This video will help ease my pain. UK psych is my favorite subject. July is probably the greatest psych lp of all time. Idle Race I'm still missing in my collection. Art album is outstanding. All The Deviants lps are worth owning. Horse is a great band.I just spun that Head Machine album, the vocals are an acquired taste. I would rank The Pretty Things ahead of The Stones. Pink Fairies are killer. Arzachel is one of my favorite albums. I'm holding out for an OG of that Small Faces. All the other ones you showed were equally great. Thanks for cheering me up. Back to self loathing. Peace ✌ ☮ 🕊

I’ve never taken part in a street level protest so that will be a first but I will be there with sign in hand! Pray for us to survive this diabolical scheme to kill our democracy! Peace ✌️👽

    All great selections. Horse is a darn good lp. Head Machine as well - have you got Toe Fat? Another blistering UK lp with U. Heep member(s). My "Pussy Plays" came with pink vinyl... The other English Pussy is quite good as well... guys from Jerusalem.

      Hey Malcolm! Hell yeah! I completely forgot about Toe Fat! I do have a copy of TF2 with the strangely grotesque cover art! LoL! I’ll have to bust that one out for a future video! It’s a bit of a well loved copy that the Perch found at a flea market for $3! Haha Peace ✌️👽
