Any thoughts on trying to use trash pumps and a ton of hose to pump the silo out? I suppose it only makes sense if you have a way to crane all the metal out and scrap it. But getting it completely dry and cleaned out letting you really see what all is down there would be fascinating.
Going to have to open the top back up. But pumping and using a crane is the only logical solution.
He gets to produce more content this way, if he pumped it, it would speed up the process which means less videos
It's below the water table, so he can't just pump it out with a standard pump. They had giant sump pumps down there before it was decommissioned. The water table starts about where the surface of the water is. The bottom is over 150ft below that. He isn't going to ever be able to pump that water out.
@@TheCoolwhipped i can’t imagine he would never be able too, they had to have some way to store a missile in there. Now he may have to keep a sump pump down there on a float switch
@@tylerwooldridge7933 the problem is that it's so deep that it will fill faster than he can pump without several industrial pumps that would have to run 24/7. That's a GIANT expense

Take a look into capstan hoists/winches (cat heads). Its basically a rotating drum you wrap your rope around a few times and then pull on the tag end with light pressure and it does all the heavy lifting for you. The ones I always used are the $3-5k ones you see if you google capstan hoist and we had mounts to put them in the receiver of a truck for lifting things to the top of cell towers. There are tons of ways you'd be able to rig up a mount, or even just attach it to a skid you could chain to anything solid and then you would just need an edge protector for the rope going over that platform. I also saw Tractor Supply now carries a baby capstan hoist that runs on power tool batteries and claims 1 ton lifting force, but not sure on speed. The ones I've used were in the 40-50 feet per minute range. I'm fairly close to the silo and have access to a capstan if you ever want to try one out...

I would be very curious to see it pumped down - especially if done with a timelapse - would be interesting to put in a bore pump (most of which can push 300ft plus of water height and a fairly reasonable price - just drop it in and leave it on for a week and see if the water level drops even an inch or two - if the water seepage is pretty low you could even just set it up on its own solar system
The silo vids are the best series on TH-cam. More magnet fishing for sure
That piece you brought up looks like a plumbing rack for multiple pipelines for electrical, liquid, or gaseous logistics, either for the base, or the missile. Very cool. You guys definitely need to clear, and drain all that water and debris out of there, and seal it. With floors ever 10 feet, or so, that's like a little skyscraper down there. Imagine all the rooms you could install down in just that one silo. I'm betting you'll also find the wedge shaped, retractable access deck greats that went around the missile, at several levels just tossed about down there, too. Thanks for sharing. :)

@Flair, hey bud very glad to hear you dont have a whole lot of abestos and its mostly fiberglass. Im completely interested in seeing what you guys do here at the silo. Any chance you can make a pulley system like a clothes line wheel on the top of the board, and get a electric winch, run the wire up from the winch between the board and the clothes line wheel ( kinda like an old school pully system). Kinda like the whole bringing up water out of a really old wishing well idea. Also like you said if you get those doors open, man skies the limits. You could get a crane or farm equipment to pull pieces out depending on size and how heavy. Im guessing by how heavy that piece was you may have a whole crap ton of IRON down there. Which makes sense its a missle silo lol.

Love your videos. My dad used to use a magnet to pick up nails in the yard. He put the magnet in a plastic bucket with a rope attached to the handle of the bucket. Then he would swing the bucket over the yard. When he had picked up some stuff, he held the bucket over a box and lifted the magnet up. Everything then fell in the box. Maybe you could something similar, only drill some holes in the side of the bucket to let water out. Good luck with clearing the stuff out of the silo.

Drop a couple tapcons on the winch to secure the winch to the wall of the concrete so you’re not relying on 1 1/2 inch piece of wood with 2 screws to pull heavier stuff up.

Idea... get the missile doors up top open. Get you one of those giant junk yard magnets and a crane. Lower the magnet into the water with the crane and pull a punch of stuff out at once!

We used to hook a drill onto the nut where the crank goes. Worked great
i recommend for the objects in there you get a winch that bolts to trailers and bring it in that way it will be easier not too fast but you’ll be able to do more because you won’t get tired so easy
What need do is when get the claw for the drone you can use the claw to hold the magnet with rope attached and take the magnet down with drone n use drone to stick the magnet to whatever you want to bring up or attempt to bring up
