You have an incredible channel. You're literally creating an encyclopedia of languages, many of which will unfortunately die out in the next few decades. Thank you so much for all your hard work!
Imagine an alternate universe where Russia never conquered the Caucucasus and the nations of Chechnya, Circassia, Ingushetia, and Dagestan are all independent countries. That would be cool and make the map a lot better looking.
This is definetly one of the hardest languages. It seems even harder than Arabic and the tonal languages in SE Asia. I guess it would way easier to learn a Native American or an Eskimo language.
how Spanish-speakers of America the languages spoken by the natives are not so difficult mainly those of the Andes such as Quechua or the Uto-Aztecs the real complicated ones are those of the Amazon
@@serysyo8418 I'm born in Adyghea, but my parents usually speaks in Russian and they are Russian, so i can only speak Russian (and also, English, but it's so necessary, i think) Earlier, I learned Adyghean and literature of Adyghea, but it's hard to learning this language for me!
Ubykh doesn't have a word for the verb "to love." The phrase "I love you" is translated in Ubykh as «ҽӏаны уызбјан» which literally means "I see you well."
I am an adghe myself and my mother met the niece of the late Tevfik Esenç at a wedding. I highly doubt that Zeki Esenç is able to speak the ubykh language as his niece couldn't speak it. So I think reviving the language would be difficult, unfortunately.
What a fascinating language! Anyone who speaks any Circassian language as a native who likes to talk about languages? I'm looking for guests for my podcast. Natives of other languages are welcome too.
what a great video 👍🏼 thanks. but i want to say 'Ubykh flag' in 1:25 is not true. It is Berzeg family's symbol. Berzegs are one of the biggest family of Ubykh nation.
Thanks for the work. I would like this to be known: Ubykh language is not a separate language, but a part, a dialect, of the Circassian language. Circassians are a single nation. The 12 regions in the video are members of a single nation speaking the same language and sharing the same culture, geography and history. Members of this nation, which was subjected to exile and genocide, are still trying to keep alive their language, culture, traditions and customs, which are in danger of extinction all over the world. Until one day they live under one flag, free and sovereign in their homeland...
It is Wikipedia, but the page on the NWC protolanguage indicates that there were over 200 distinct phonemes. What process could derive that? It's far-fetched, but many of these large consonant inventories could be lasting remnants of a pre-Ice Age global civilization.
Well, imho this is one of the most complex languages ever heard. So many similar yet different sounds, that at first glance look exactly the same.
My grandad spoke wubykh, one of the few left in Turkey at the time. God rest his soul.
Do you still speak ubykh, or your parents? Or do you knoe anyone, who still speaks it?

Circassian! One of the most interesting languages in terms of pronunciation imo
Thank you so much for this video, it is fascinating for me as a Circassian and who craves to know more about our language. It is so mysterious, ngl
Your channel is improving exponentially. Keep going! 💯
Thank you for these very valuable information..I’m kabardey and i love your channel ♥️♥️

Thank you for fulfilling my wish of a video about a language in the Caucasus
Thank you very much as an abaza. İ love all of your productions ❤️
The Circassian and Khoisan languages by far the most difficult languages I’ve ever seen. Good luck to anyone trying to learn them 😂
Thank you for this beautiful sample of Ubykh!
Mindblowing. Thank you as always Andy

@@yan4el Oh ok, how is the life in Adyghea ? Are the relations good between the Russians and the Adyghe ?
"Ndgha" means Day in Lazuri, which is a Kartvelian language. And in Ubykh it is Sun,
The way it written looks like some kind of Native American language from Caucasus.
Beautiful Language
it reminds my of west coast amerindian languages
Not about Amerindian, but Dené-Caucasian proposed language family is a thing tho. Includes Na-Dené, Yeniseian, Sino-Tibetian and North Caucasian
Ubykh doesn't have a word for the verb "to love." The phrase "I love you" is translated in Ubykh as «ҽӏаны уызбјан» which literally means "I see you well."
Dutch has a similar construction « Ik zie je graag » with the same meaning (I like seeing you) and translation in English
It's similar to kazakh "мен сені жақсы көремін" ("men senı jaksy köremın") which literally translates like "i see you well" too...
But the kazakh have a word "сүю" ("süyu") which can be translated in english by 2 ways: "to kiss" and "to love"
Yes its unique for north caucasian language. None of the north caucasian languages have a word for "to love" and using "to see well" xd
We are not getting rid of this Ashan. Now we have Asšán (sorry for bad English).
My English is horrible

Circassians should make a single language. These tribes share a common ancestry but with dialects separating though.

It sounds like English spoken backwards.
